- Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit from Criterion Games and Electronic Arts for the Xbox 360. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is also available for the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, PC and iOS. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit was developed by the British studio Criterion Games, a studio perhaps known best for its racing titles - specifically, the Burnout series. Sometimes, it takes a new team to take a franchise in a new direction, or in this case, an old one. Hot Pursuit goes back to the roots of the Need For Speed series, returning the gameplay to those thrilling cops-and-racers chases that made the old Hot Pursuit titles so much fun. This video review features video gameplay footage of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Finally, another need for speed game where you can BE the cop. Being chased is fun, but too few games allow you to be on the correct side of the law. Now if only there was one that allowed me to use a 1976 Ford Gran Torino as a police car...
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 3 was my favorite racing game back in the day.
I typically enjoy racing games that are more on the aim end of the spectrum, but this game is pretty fun and is really good looking. I wish we had an option to play with sim physics.

Are you sure? From what I understand, the Xbox 360 and original Xbox controllers were most clearly inspired from the design of the Dreamcast controller from the triggers all the way to the face buttons.

As many death threats as I'll probably get for this, this game and the 2012 Most Wanted are actually my two favorite NFS games. The reason: NFS and Burnout are both great games, and to see them basically mixed together with these two games is a joy to my eyes. So yes, I like them better than Hot Pursuit 2 and Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit.

Both, Hot Pursuit and The Run, were 20 € (used & perfect condition at gamestop). That's not too bad...
I wish criterian wasn't involved in this they wrecked the game.It's not NFS it's burnot basically.I liked the gameplay of underground2 and most wanted.In other words this game should've beem a street racing game with just cops in it trying to get you like most wanted.

@Gamermanner Because honestly, the PS3 controller sucks for racing games. I assume Derek feels the same way I do and wanted to play Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit with the Xbox 360 controller which is perfect for racing games.

yes yes yes just hold a minute its made in Britain Pagani which is one of my favorite supercars have made a prototype just for one of this game and it has the best handling of all game not very realistic but great its the best driving game ever

Its a nice game. But i didnt even play it through. Somehow i dont know it gets boring pretty fast^^ And the KI is the most annoying thing. If i race perfectly and have a faster car then i should be getting far ahead. Not in this one. THEY CHEAT!
Did i mention that they forgot the best feature of the original HP? Split screen!!!

@StrawberryGuy86 It's dead in a sense that it's no longer need for speed, it's a whole other game. And just because a lot of people like something doesn't mean it's any good, look at world of warcraft. P.S. I found nfs shift boring, so personally I don't like it, but then again i don't like simulators and nfs was NOT a simulator before.

The new company is what completely ruined the NFS series. They haven't even released an actual new game. They took the old ones which were amazing and dumbed them down and took out customization. They basically ruined the games that were amazing. Nfs: carbon is the best one for ps3. The ones after are terrible like this one.

Need for Drift
This game SUCKS, the racing is so PLAIN and tacky and they copied the burnout game, i don't understand how anybody can have fun playing this game, the only thing i like is the graphics and how the environments look like but other than that i dont feel any real action going on in this game, nothing but flat plains too, hhhh i miss the old nfs games :/
