Neither is wrong. Starter deck has a bunch of low attack and defense cards, and the combos is pretty basic, which is the point of a starter deck. Its like the starter deck in the video games back then too.

Still cool that they did that, hoping they do it more but with decks that can do more besides the scripted duel and can function on their own. Just my thoughts about it
My biggest complaint is that people are going to buy it, try the game, then go 0-X at a locals, before dropping the game. I know it needed to be simple decks to teach people, but I think it also needed to have at least a liiiitle bite to it. People hate losing, and these decks are useless.

They could also just put all the search targets in the practice duel instead of the search cards. Which would, in theory at least, give people an idea about what they want to search when they start doing duels without the script. "Oh, I know this card started that combo, so I pick it, right?" Its not perfect, but its better than refusing to prepare people for what yugioh is actually like.

The two player starter set is interesting but I feel it's good for people getting back into yugioh it's not too complex for them, it's missing link monsters

I think the 2-player starter set is great, but it sounds like you guys don't exactly know how it works. You can play a regular duel with them like here, but normally you're meant to play a scripted duel with them while reading a booklet to help teach the various mechanics, one for Synchros, one for Xyzs.
I'd call it rivalry format. It's a lot of back and forth, and based on the set of Synchro vs Xyz, which is reflected in the classic rivalry of Blue-Eyes vs DM, who use Synchro and Xyz respectively.

Yo penguin solider was the goat for me and i would combine it with man eater bug and was it cyber jar. But ever since i saw penguin solider as some upgrades i build a deck and it was coming back in memories lanes. As i did win some duels and lost some cause i can't fully bring back my deck since some cards are banned.

The set is very okay for new stuff. The decks themselves are total ass as actual decks, but are decent with the scripted element to gradually ramp up the duel from old school into somewhat modern yugioh. I just think the fact that 3/4 of the cards in each deck are useless in any modern deck is kinda a waste, because a new player buys this thing to learn the game with a friend, and most of the stuff they just bought is usless and the decks themselves cannot function if you say took it to locals to play with other people. Yugioh needs better starter/structure decks that dont require you to buy 3 of them to even have a somewhat functional deck. You should just need to buy 1 starter deck and have it be decent enough to play in a modern sense, and its unfortunate this set does nothing to change the barrier to entry of making deck.
