    Wow that’s amazing! Similar to my experience with my 2020 Tacoma SR/SX AccessCab that didn’t come with cargo lights or tailgate locker. I purchased the OEM harness for the tailgate, and run the wiring myself with some assistance from UA-cam videos. Also purchased the lights kit and cabin switch with assistance from some smart people on Tacoma World. As you said, Toyota saves money using similar harnesses on most models. This also gives the dealership opportunities to make more money on upgrades! Great video. Keep up the good work.

    • @michaelpack4210
      @michaelpack4210 2 роки тому

      @@niccapitan9574 yes, search for rostra cruise install instructions. I’ve been doing some research on my 2013 base auto. 2.7. If you have a manual transmission you will need to add a clutch switch. My 2013 auto wasn’t prewired, so I have to run a wire from 8 pin connector pin 1 (behind steering harness, bottom) to ECU 22 pin 14. And a ground from 8 pin connector (pin 2) to good ground.
      Also, these vary based on model. V6 connects to different areas. Many are the same, but some do vary, so research is key. Good luck !

    When Nixon lowered the national speed limit to 55 mph I added cruise control to my 1974 Dodge Sportsman van using a factory kit which included a replacement turn signal lever, a vacuum device and cables to tap into the speedometer cable, link to the throttle, and add a second switch at the brake. Feeding the wiring through the steering column was the most fun but it looked totally standard when done. Things are sure easier now!!

    Faye, your video on installing a cruise control on a Tacoma is helpful. Have a base model 2013 Tacoma w an auto tranny, 2.7 liter engine but no cruise control. Does this install require running wires through the steering column or adding new microchip? Does the 2013 Tacoma base model come in variants where the install is different? Having some difficulty finding a shop that is willing to do this work. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks 😊

    • @michaelpack4210
      @michaelpack4210 2 роки тому +1

      I have a 2013 base model, auto, 4x4 2.7l I added the parts above (they were slightly different) mine wasn’t pre wired, so after researching, I found instructions online. I need to run 2 wires from 8 pin connector (bottom right, steering shroud) 1 wire from pin 1 to ECU behind glove compartment, and another wire from pin 2 to good ground. I plan on doing this in the next week or so, waiting on intermittent wiper switch to come in, and will do it all at the same time.
      Each model varies as to where they connect on ECU. V6 is different than 4 cyl. Rostra puts out some decent written instructions, and also a couple videos. I’ve also learned from several who have commented on this page and others.
      Thanks, and good luck !

    Hey thanks for your video. I have a 2013 Tacoma base model and unfortunately this did not work. I ordered the parts you ordered and it still didn't work. I ordered a clock spring and still didn't work. But I ordered the intermittent wiper switch and it did work. Do you think I should have ordered the cruise control switch for my year Tacoma

      I have the 2013 4x4 base auto 2.7. Mine did not work as well. I found there is an 8 pin connector under steering shroud, and there are 2 wires that run from that 8 pin connector, 1 to ecu behind glove compartment, and another to a ground. If it’s a manual transmission, you will need to install a clutch switch as well.

    Interesting that the rest of the cruise control is present and all it needs is the controls.

    Faye, your videos are so helpful! I have a super basic 2008 Tacoma. It’s new to me but don’t have too much info on it. I just added the cruise control and follows your video. The cruise did not work. No lights, nothing. Is it possible that my truck is so basic the computer isn’t reading that it’s there?

    Great video! I have a 2010 Tacoma regular cab base model (it has zero options). Unfortunately, I took the airbag off and the wiring and plug-in isn't there. So...some models aren't prewired for this mod. I'll be purchasing the entire wiring kit for installation.

    I have installed many rostra cruises control kits on Toyota vehicles throughout the years.
