There's a story told of Dolly about the filming of the movie Steel Magnolias. The movie featured an all star cast of actresses like Julia Roberts Sally Fields and Shirley McClain. They were filming on location in the south during the summer. Dolly and 3 of the female co stars were sitting on a porch in very realistic southern attire that women wore back in the day. In other words these costumes very hot. Even better filming was being delayed due to some technical problem and the women were becoming very annoyed sitting in the hot southern sun wearing these heavy costumes. So they started complaining and griping about their discomfort. Except Dolly One of the co stars said to Dolly why aren't you saying anything Dolly don't you think it's inconsiderate of them to have us just sitting here in the hot sun. Dolly said I grew up poor and really never dreamed of the success God has blessed me with and I'm not about to sit here and complain about it.

Hey Rosie I have been a fan of Hanks for about as long as you and became an even bigger fan when he joined up with the rest of the so called outlaws and sort of help reshape country music 🎶 while inreality the outlaws were helping country music get back to its roots and the outlaws were writing hit songs for themselves and most of the other big stars ⭐ and yet most people outside of Nashville didn't even realize how much much country music 🎶 the outlaws were responsible for in the 60s 70s and most of the 80s and still are responsible for a lot of hits one way or another these days and have helped open things up for Jamey Johnson, Chris Stapleton and other young songwriter performers who are currently making names for themselves as writing and singing 🎶 more traditional country type songs so like with other genres of music 🎶 what's old is new again and best as I can tell country music 🎶 is back to where it was in the 60s 70s and 80s again and I for one 1⃣ hope the generations of young kids listening and loving country music 🎶 these days will pass their love 😍 of country music 🎶 down to the generations that come after them and on and on and on the way country music 🎶 has always seemed to survive through the years
The best singer/songwriters today don’t live in Nashville, don’t hang on music row, aren’t invited to the fancy awards shows, don’t check with anybody to see if it’s ok to use this lyric, or wear this ol tshirt…don’t wear jeans with all that sparkly crap on the ass pockets like my ol lady wears, they can skin a buck, and run a trot line (thanks Hank), been wearing boots n hats since preschool, not since their manager told them they needed to change genres if they want to ever make it, and most of em have red dirt on their old boots that they actually wear when nobody’s lookin. Jus sayin.

Very Cool piece here , you should have mentioned the fact that Waylon was not on the famous plane crash aka the day the music died ( I only said that because I'm not sure if everyone knows that Sad fact of music history)
I Grew up watching Eagels football and eating pot roast of beef dinners on Sundays with Willie Nelson as , Uncle Willie as we called him would be in town to play at Whiskey Juction in Bordentown New jersey That was the early 80"s
Yes Dolly had to leave Porter cause she was meant to shine alone and Porter did not want to let her go cause she was making too much money for him...too bad porter, it was.meant to be for Dolly to stand alone and let go of you! She WAS MEANT TO SHINE!
I like old Hank Jr. Even though he made a comment that got the football ads pulled years ago. Hey Hank, the Disney dude made sure I had face time in that. Inside the Parthenon when Gloria Estefan was on stage. Didn't get on TV but I enjoyed the whole thing.
I agree that Porter Wagner was the biggest break for Dolly but from what I have heard one of her first breaks was singing backup for an earlier country star named Bill Phillips. From my understanding, Dolly sang backup for Bill’s hit song “Put it Off Until Tomorrow”. She sounded so good on that song an executive in the industry heard it and inquired who she was and it was a small start for her. I played with Bill a couple of times in his later years in the early 1980s. Some of the older stars that were still touring during that time would hire out with their band or by their selves. The person hiring them then would hire a lesser known band to fill in for a smaller price. A club owner in Farmerville Louisiana hired him and the band I was playing with at the time out of Arkansas named The River City Band. We backed Bill up as his band two different times at that club. He was an extremely nice down to earth guy. Thanks for listening. Those were some good times.
My first time watching this channel, so I haven't caught vol.1 yet. But speaking of David Allen Coe, he's probably the wildest of the wild, any DAC stories?
I got a good one on DAC . I met him in person ! Was staying with a buddy's dad down in KY . We went over the state line into Tennessee to do some illegal stuff . We were at a place on top of a big old hill with a bunch of trailers . You rent out a trailer(a few hundred dollars) and they supplied the girls and the drugs ! My buddy's dad went in to pay and he was all giddy when he came out . He got to the truck and just said , "look look" ! This HUGE guy comes outta the office with 2 women . Buddy's dad pokes his head in and said , "hurry up and get up here . That's David Allen Coe" ! Me and my buddy just laughed !! (Like sure it is😂) Well , we walked up and sure enough ... it was him . We started telling him how much we love his music and he was VERY cool to us . He let us run on for a minute and he finally says , "nice to meet you guys but , i'm sure you're here to do the same thing i am . I gotta go boys ." ! 😂😂 This was around 28-32 years ago ?
@@bartgarrett7710 Hahaha! For some reason,. I don’t doubt that story for a minute! Haha! Of Course,. I Am a big DAC Fan!!! Great Story! I’m wondering how he’s doing now,. Heard anything? Last I looked on here he was sick in the hospital! I hope he’s doing okay! Love his music!
Dolly Parton did I will always love you first and better than Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston didn't make it popular. That song will always remind people of Dolly.
As a kid I hated history and country music. As an adult I tire of the same ole music and so I become more attracted to real country music. I also find that I appreciate good stories from history and country music is full of interesting story from the 50s through the 90s! if you don’t like the music you can’t deny the compelling lives of country stars! Crazy how hippies hip hop got so much attention while country was as bad or worse, behind the scenes!
I remember Dolly being at a grocery store (cas walkers). My dad told me she worked there. I don't think she was a cashier. I think it had something to do with her singing. Maybe a commercial and she just happened to be there. It was in Knoxville not Sevierville so Idk. I just remember thinking she was so beautiful.
Just like Kieth Whitley, another one of the all time country greats that had a tragic life story and has had his name lost in time was the great Blaze Foley.
Paycheck played at my dads bar several times , i had a key to the office and thats where i ran into Johnny . I walked in the unlocked and cracked open door and there was Johnny with a straw hangin out of his nose doing a line . I went in and closed the door .

Jus sayin.
@@invictusbp1prop143 hey invictus this is Jeff Yoder the ol'broke down scooter tramp, exbiker, and I'm not sure what got you going brother but maybe if you'd lighten up some you hear what's coming out of Nashville these days and realize the pendulum is swinging back towards some old school roots of country music 🎶 again by some up and coming young country talents hoping that they can ride that pendulum to a big hit with their old school style country songs Nashville ain't any where near dieing it's just takin a well deserved breather
I love Hank Jr. and Dolly
And I love the rest. I just love Country Music
Back when country was country cause country isn't country now
Cody Jinks, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson many more but the garbage country on the radio ya for sure.
Very Cool piece here , you should have mentioned the fact that Waylon was not on the famous plane crash aka the day the music died ( I only said that because I'm not sure if everyone knows that Sad fact of music history)
Also Ms Audrey died during Hank Jr's early recuperation and surgeries making that transition to the sound that Bocephus is now known for
sad
I Grew up watching Eagels football and eating pot roast of beef dinners on Sundays with Willie Nelson as , Uncle Willie as we called him would be in town to play at Whiskey Juction in Bordentown New jersey That was the early 80"s
I remember watching Dolly on the Porter Wagner show when I was a little girl. I've been a fan of hers my entire life ❤
Dolly said in a interview that Porter was controlling and tried to hold her back so she wouldn't leave his show. He did some real shady shit.
Yes Dolly had to leave Porter cause she was meant to shine alone and Porter did not want to let her go cause she was making too much money for him...too bad porter, it was.meant to be for Dolly to stand alone and let go of you! She WAS MEANT TO SHINE!
@@marshabanks2297 and shine she did. She's one of the few artist that has people who don't like country but love her.
I've enjoyed watching!
The Paycheck incident happened up the street from my hometown. Everyone has looked for that gun!
I like old Hank Jr. Even though he made a comment that got the football ads pulled years ago. Hey Hank, the Disney dude made sure I had face time in that. Inside the Parthenon when Gloria Estefan was on stage. Didn't get on TV but I enjoyed the whole thing.
Hank was yelling the whole way down so far so good so far so good
WE LOVE THEM NO MATTER WHAT !!!
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT‼️🫶🏻
Miss Waylon Jennings!!!!!
Thank you for the support! There is a plan to release more volumes for this series. 🙏
@@CountryCast Speaking of DAC,. I’m wondering how he’s doing? Last I heard he was in the hospital! I hope he’s on the mend!
Last video I watched he was sick,. I hope he’s doing better!
(Like sure it is😂)
Well , we walked up and sure enough ... it was him . We started telling him how much we love his music and he was VERY cool to us . He let us run on for a minute and he finally says , "nice to meet you guys but , i'm sure you're here to do the same thing i am . I gotta go boys ." ! 😂😂
This was around 28-32 years ago ?
@@bartgarrett7710 Hahaha! For some reason,. I don’t doubt that story for a minute! Haha! Of Course,. I Am a big DAC Fan!!! Great Story! I’m wondering how he’s doing now,. Heard anything? Last I looked on here he was sick in the hospital! I hope he’s doing okay! Love his music!
Great video. Nice job sir
Waylon, Merle, and George are my trifecta.
Dolly Parton did I will always love you first and better than Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston didn't make it popular. That song will always remind people of Dolly.
So well said Christopher! Very well said,
Dolly have a voice of an angel. Whitney’s version is not close to Dollys!
@@rickyferguson2362 Agreed!
Dolly wrote the song for the movie, 9 to 5.
I like Dolly, but Whitney absolutely rocked that song.
@@grammyd8361 She wrote and performed before 9-5.
Dang! What a great program .
Dolly was a local child celebrity at ten, so by the time she went to Nashville she had be working her craft for eight years.
A night of relaxation?? 🤣 He stole a brick from the outlaws that night and was coked tf up. So relaxing 🤣
Very good point on Keith Whitley. Good on ya man! Take care
Much appreciated! 🙏
Lori Morgan told one time she tied hers and Keith’s ankles together to keep him from getting out of bed and drinking and that he even drank cologne
Just like Kieth Whitley, another one of the all time country greats that had a tragic life story and has had his name lost in time was the great Blaze Foley.
SOMEONE THINKING THAT THEY MADE YOU AND CAN BREAK YOU IS TRULY DISGRACEFUL !!!
Thats why hank jr always has a beard because it hides the scars from the fall he had
That!!!…. Was a great video.
Thank you! Appreciate the support! 🙏
I love Waylon Jennings
I'm surprised you didn't mention John Denver's airplane crash. My late husband was a fan.
Hello how are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song.
That's real country. I grew up on it watching Hee haw.
Nice footage of Hank and Waylon at the 1983 US Festival. How much did it cost to lease that? That's what I thought.
Waylon will always be the greatest i love waylon keith whitley is another great singer & gone way to soon.
Hello how are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song.
How about something on Johnny Rodriguez
Wow, Keith Whitley '84-'89; 19 #1 hit singles. Remarkable.
Paycheck played at my dads bar several times , i had a key to the office and thats where i ran into Johnny . I walked in the unlocked and cracked open door and there was Johnny with a straw hangin out of his nose doing a line . I went in and closed the door .
Really love ur music hank
More pop singers, once you hit the billboard 100, they are pop
OUTLAW COUNTRY !!!
I fell in love with Keith Whitley's voice without knowing he had already died.
Dolly sings as in a movie Earthly Angel as love that movie and does a trio with Emilous Harrison as cant remember 3rd one
My grans love Dolly..We do too..
I think not to like Dolly is like not believing in God !!!!!!!
