- Next, I might make a motorcycle controller and play a motorcycle game.
I made a racing wheel controller by myself using only the stock controller and what I have at home. And of course the accelerator and brake pedal.
All you need is a piece of cardboard, wood glue, rubber bands, and a pair of scissors to make it.
How about making this with your kids during the summer holidays or when you have a lot of time at home in Corona?
I made this one by myself and my 5 year old enjoyed the racing game with the Racing Wheel Controller. (It wasn't so much a race as it was a fun way to move the car.)
It would have been better if I had a glue gun or something like that instead of a bond, but the bond worked well enough.
I recommend using a quick-drying bond.

You can change the rudder angle by changing the longitude of the shaft connected to the L-stick by a thread. The rudder angle is too small as it is now, so it will be easier to operate if the shaft is narrower.
In the racing wheel controller industry, G29 and Fanatec are very popular, but the price is too high for me to afford them.

Problem is it's actually not very good for sim racing as there is no pressure sensitivity for the accelerator or break, thus with out the feed back from that when you come into certain situations wher you only need to apply a certain amount of pressure to either, such as throttle to get through a power slide or a corner you could easily end up overdoing because you don't have the resistance against your foot.
@@jeffrielly have you ever seen a ps4 controller cuz that's not true
@@3DWorldMan clearly you haven't actually done any sim racing with an actual wheel, or at the very least driven a go kart, you need specific feedbacks from the breaks and throttle so that you don't spin the tires or lock the wheels up, and you can usually tell from the resistance pressing against your foot, how ever under actual racing conditions it's harder to tell because of all 9f the adrenaline that you have flowing g through you, and you are right on the edge of over doing it, driving a racing vehicle is all about finesse, and you can't get a good sensation of that unless thst resistance is there, also various cars also handle and break differently (this is why on Fanatec's pedals you can actually adjust the stiffness of the pedals!) A formula 1 car's break pedal for example is extremely stiff, whereas a GT3 car it is significantly less stiff, I'm going to see if I can't find a lost for different types of race cars, and how much force it take to fully press the pedals of each to show you what I'm talking about!
...ok I can't upload pictures on here but you can Google this stuff and see for your self, qn f1 car takes 100kg of force to fully stop it, and about 35kg of force to slow it down whereas a GT3 (I could be wrong here as I can't actually find anything specific on it) I believe takes around 70 KG of force to fully stop it, and a GO-Kart takes wwwwaaay less then that to fully stop it, now I can give you a cyclist here for comparison on what these pressures are like, when professional cyclist is in a race at a brisk pace is providing around 65kg of force when peddling, now if you are going full speed in an f1 car (lets say you just came out of a corner and fling down a straight, and you are going about 135-170 MPH) you suddenly apply 85-90 kg of force to the breaks, you are going to lock the wheels up because it's too much force against the wheel via the speed at which they are traveling! (I just went over your head with all of the physics stuff didn't I?)
@@jeffrielly You can substitute tapping brakes and throttle in short bursts for a pressure sensitive pedal. it's not that hard and it works just as well as a racing wheel setup and is an easier technique to perfect.
