    I have a RT3 Backdraft Cobra but almost pulled the trigger on a SPF that was actually cheaper but optioned much lower. They are both IMO top of line "attainable" turn-key replicas. I hate when people call them a kit because they aren't in that realm at all. The fit & finish is wonderful and you won't be disappointed with either choice. Backdrafts to me are more aggressive looking and have a little more modern flair while still being classic. They're both built in South Africa to similar standards so the argument that one is better than the other is null & void realistically.

      Yes, they are both very well built, I have never met someone with either one who doesn’t love it. I came close to pulling the trigger on a SPF. for me Hurricane was the fit for me. High on my list were looking original down to details and price. My kit will arrive next Friday cant wait to start building it. Enjoy your Backdraft! Thanks for watching, Pete.

    Please do Superformance or Backdraft vs. *professionally built* Factory Five, focusing on the engineering & performance.

    I purchased a Superformance MKIII (1358) from the Olthoff's back in 2002 with a 460 crate motor which eventually saw dual quads, my Cobra is gone now but the memories remain. Back then the differences between Superformance and Backdraft to me were substantial to make an easy decision. The looks, stance and interior with correct gauges and gauge placement helped me choose. My comparison is from almost 20 years ago, not sure what changes have been made to Backdraft Cobra's since, but buying a turnkey from either would still bring a positive experience.

      That must have been a screamer. Superformance makes a great car that is pretty accurate. And yes, Backdraft offers many options to “personalise” your Cobra some really like that. I like you want a very close to original, replica. I have never met someone who says, “I don’t like my Cobra.” They are all cool.
      Thanks for watching, Pete.

      I have lived in Orange County until 2019, I have been to Hillbank a number of times. Superformance builds a really nice car, I seriously considered one. Honestly, mostly just out of my budget and, the roll bar is moved forward to accommodate a top.

      I am glad you enjoy your Superformance Cobra, they are beautiful cars. I have been to Hillbank in Irvine many times, I really considered one. The attention to detail, fit and finish is really top shelf stuff. I just did not want to spend that much money and I really wanted to build my car.

    Nice video sir! I went with Factory Five and completely enjoyed the build experience, community, and the roadster itself. I moved on from that but someday will go with a Backdraft. I just love the look of those.

    Backdraft's rear suspension is now the Ford Mustangs rear system, also they have made some changes to the front suspension as well. Backdraft takes the liberty to make a bit longer and wider car for more comfort. The engine bay and trans tunnel are big enough to accept all kinds of engine setups, pushrod or modular engines. They race there cars very much especially in South Africa so testing is always going on with their product. There are plenty of choices out there for one to get what they want weather to build or spec our your car and have it built for you! As Pete states do you homework/research before you make your decision so that you are happy with your car.

    • @PetesSnakeBiteKit
      @PetesSnakeBiteKit  3 роки тому

      Thanks for those comments. That is cool that Backdraft is now using the Mustang rear IRS. I did not know they were actively racing them that says a lot, there is no better testing than racing!
      Thanks for reading, Pete.

    Superperformance is the only company with Cobra replicas that are licensed from Shelby America (as u explain)
    The car is designed to get u the best possible experience , everything is designed (Steering , breaks) and not from a shelf like Backdraft !
    So a Superperformance is not a real Kit CAR it feels much rounder as Factory 5 or Backdraft ! i recommend to drive them yourself before the buy :)
    I think in the End it depends on the Money you like to spend , for me it is definitely the Superperformance Happy to get mine End of this year :)

      Congrats on your retirement! I don't know any political leanings of any of the manufactures, but if FFR is off your list, Hurricane builds a nice car and is in the FFR price range. Going up from there in price is ERA, they make a very accurate car. Unique is close to ERA in price and accuracy except for the roll bar. From there you get into the turn key minus cars. Back Draft, Superformance, Kirkham then Shelby American being the most expensive. Kirkham is my personal favorite but out of my budget. Happy shopping.

      You want an electric Prius and you can find one at your nearest Toyota dealership. There's one on Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley and of course SF Toyota on Van Ness. They're turnkey cars which leaves plenty of time for SJW activities and the rear end of the Prius can display far more bumper stickers than a Cobra. More importantly, you do realize that the Cobra was manufactured by Shelby, ahem, American....
