Oh my Gosh Holden nice accent there buddy. As to where that is from my guess would be Monty Python and the holy Grail? Or one of the Harry Potter movies.
I think you should plant some plants in your trout lake / pond are do trout like Rocky bottom. I have to research that maybe they like sand. I would definitely research on how they spawn weather they need Sandy bottoms to spawn or what but I'm sure you know that. Trout master. Hahaha
LOL awesome to see someone panning, the two things i love... panning and survival shows both wrapped in one show! I already liked it but if I could do it twice I would. Dan Hurd would be amazed :D
Bro the best thing about your channel is that you don’t stop supplying us with different content. Your videos aren’t like repeat videos that you do over n over again just with a different date. I hope you get what I mean. Nothing but the upmost respect bro
Minnows and shiners! A friend of mine has a 2.5 acre brown trout pond in the U.P, he put in 25 lbs of shiners one year and didnt catch a fish for over a year. They were feeding so well on the live shiners they wouldn't touch anything suspicious. His 3rd year he was catching 10lb fish .You can also set up a light a foot above the water it attracts bugs and feeds the fish. They sell a big light that has a fan below it that knocks the bugs into the water. I really enjoyed this video thanks for sharing.
just found your channel, loving it. Ive been going through these pond videos, kinda out of order. But you could introduce lots of freshwater shrimp, they will keep the water clean of debris and algae and stuff, plus if you have any casualties theyll break it down quick. The shrimp would also be good food for the fish. You could also research native clams and introduce them to help be filter feeders and keep the pond clean. Then lots of freshwter plants too because those will maintain the nutrient cycles and cool the water a bit if you get a nice mass of floating plants....those characteristics also help prevent algae and provide habitat for shrimp to live and reproduce and for fish fry to grow, and even for the amphibians that will show up.
Rainbow are are very opportunistic feeders so if the have no fish food available they will almost immediately transition over to natural foods like frogs tadpoles invertebrates ect. Keep up the good work
I'll be hiring Trevor for my excavation need , we build a couple addition a year and the odd new build , good going Trevor got the number and you helped an amazing family man . Great project
Richard Culbertson very true. I hope that if Chris is putting in all the work like supplying and finances, that the land owner doesn’t shaft him in the future
The worse thing happening some times is that the land owner is cool with it by helping some other people out like here, but later dies and the ones who inheritate the property just turn around and kick them out like nothing. So for sure, I hope they have it on paper!
Funny you say that. As a farmer I used to trap nuisance animals, hand the carcas in sealed buckets with holes in the bottom. Flys lay eggs, larvae drop to ground, chickens eat larvae, I eat chicken eggs. Nothing wasted
Looks like a lot of work and effort are all coming together. Thanks for sharing!!! I look forward to the rest of the series. Don’t forget woodduck boxes. A pond like that could support one or two for sure. It’s a fun way to spend the spring and getting kids involved with habitat.
Yep, Monty python's Holy Grail. My favorite was the french taunting, when the french castle guard slapped his helmeted head while looking loopy and confused. BUT: the meaning of life with Mr. Creosote barfing all over the place in a 5 star restaurant was darn funny.
Man, you’re like lightning. You were just talking about it a little while ago. Mmm... now I’m thinking extra tall Deerstand with a waterslide. Thanks great video. 🦐🎣
Yo Holden Monty Python bro, great video team huge thanks to the growing team Peter, Trevor and of course Linden fishary. Yes trap that turtle and I'm sure I remember talk of a floating blind, could be a good fit for the job. Excellent job thanks for sharing :-)
Love this! Aquaculture certified here! what a great project! I love the science in this one! What the FCR on you breed of trout? Feed conversion ratio, how much feed will the fish convert into put into body mass, it depends on to many things, i dont exspect you to know this(=? I did Pompano, clams and shrimp for the FDA labs at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. I did a small self contained recirculating system in my yard with coral and clown fish and snails, lasted for 3 years with out feeding it. The algae, and snails fed the tank. Keep up the good work, I wish you needed a camera man or something! maybe just for the summer? lol cheers, thanx.
Maggot bucket, five gallon pail with two inch holes in the bottom covered with plastic screen. The trout will get the flies and the maggots will burrow down when their ready to pupate and fall into the water. Great for small ponds, eliminating flies and feeding fish.
26:53...you and your family should trouble shoot the movie " The Wilderness Family ", yknow ? - the part where they were all in the raft,,, floated all their picnic stuff , and entire family to some place down stream in the woods ,,, how did they get back ? did the creek run around the block ? - theres so many unanswered questions about that movie !
Add pond lilies and aquatic plants for habitat for feed for your trout. The feed species will need a place to hide and breed or the trout will destroy them. With lots of plants insects will be naturally attracted to your pond.
Would be great to stock Hellgrammites....that is Dragon fly Pupae. Good building block for a healthy pond ecosystem. In time you will see lots of fish species, because of water fowl. Fish eggs sometimes get transported in their breast feathers of ducks as they move from one water body to another
Just watched this video...you asked for suggestions to what feed would be good to introduce in?...well I personally think that some kind of fresh water shrimp would make for a good choice...the trout not only would get these as an aid to help clean the pond...but after a season or two of feeding on shrimp...the meat of the fish turn a bright orange...the whole pellet feed idea can give trout a pale look to the flesh with a liver odour...but a diet that includes fresh water shrimp (scuds)will give trout a more natural taste...Good luck...I t was always my own personal dream to own a fishing pond of my own.Loved this video a lot...maybe one day for me if only I win the lotto 649..😅
Great video. It’s a little better than mine. I can’t seem to find a small enough lure to catch the fish in my fish tank. I always remember snapping turtles eating my fish that I tried to keep alive on stringers, make turtle soup with it. Excited to see how this turns out.
You make the best content and have so much fun. I love watching your videos because you never disappoint. You're the best❗❗👍and continue getting those sponsors
Awesome buddy, just awesome !!:) you have some great friends and good connections !:) it's going to be epic, eventually, in the future you's can set up a fishing hole for the public to have a peaceful fish experience and family orientated and make a few dollars at the same time !:) make some of your money back if not all of it !!:) that's too bad there wasn't a stream near by that you can connect it to the pond, to create more oxygen ! Holden the next generation of Harry Potter !!:) btw, those fish flies are a good source of fish food, that's what we call them around here !!:) 👍🏽👍🏽✌🏽
Holy grail ;-) Great British accent lol I would have to be panning the gravels for gold i got the fever ;-) Ah you got to the gold in the end ;-) Kev mate its fun when you find gold I pan here in Switzerland. Cool that you got everyone together and got something for everyone. A raft for the feeder would be good just dont swim near it easy its a big enough pond for all. Cool stuff looking forward to see the next vid. Cheers Dave
After working in sustainable aquafeed research with rainbow trout I'd say there's nothing they love to eat more than other fish for bioenergetic reasons. Once they would start start eating each other they wouldn't eat the feed anymore haha! Definitely stock some minnows in there for fast growth if you ask me
Bare in mind that crayfish (clawdaddys) eat fish and will consume the young fish making them grow and fish numbers drop, frogs Yes, minnows Yes, good foliage that attract insects would also help in feeding the fish. Get rid of any pike and bass, not good for trout ponds
I think you could diffently grow some northern crawfish for food and then add leopard frogs to provide more food I bet some minnows or chubs would do great In that pond !

Do you think airration for the pond that a fountain would work?
And definitely about 20 catfish
Monty phython and the Holy Grail!
She’s a witch!!!!
She turned me into a newt
..come back here, i'll bit your kneez off!
"Your father was a hamster and your mother smelt of elderberries"
I got better...
00:30 Monty Python and The Holy Grail if memory serves correct.
11:04 idk why but that's asmr to me. That heavy machinery sounds so calming.
You should introduce minnows and mussels to filter the water and make it SUPER clear!
Nice Monty Python Quest for the Holy Grail excerpt.
10:40 thought I was gonna witness the dog get ran over 🙈 😂
You sir are an inspiration to outdoorsmen everywhere
Nothing more satisfying than seeing your plans and dreams come to fruition!
LOL awesome to see someone panning, the two things i love... panning and survival shows both wrapped in one show!
I already liked it but if I could do it twice I would.
Dan Hurd would be amazed :D
Wouldn't it be cool if Chris and Dan Hurd got together for a duet show and Chris came over to our west side?
Hey that gives me an idea...
Man your editing is getting so good, it's like every cutaway clip is there for a reason and it transitions so well with the unbroken narration
Thank you for sharing your pond dig. It was very interesting. Also the information the Hatchery gave was really nice to know.
Let’s catch the turtles and make some turtle soup .Trevor is doing an excellent job. Can’t wait to see it finished 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The dog peeing at 10:34 almost got the crap scared out of him too.
So awesome. The younger is being raised right. He got the outdoors, a private fish pond, and Monte Python.
BADASS VIDEO.... CONGRATS..
Omg i got sketched out when the dog stopped to pee behind the tractor haha

Making a floating island can provide extra shade for the trout
Great video once again and that quote was from, Monty Python and the Holy Grail..! Great job on your sons accent, he has that down packed. 👍😆
It's "down pat" btw.
Nope... USA. Never heard "down pack" before but I take your word for it.
I wonder If you could add guppie fish they reproduce every 20-30 days they would make good feed for your other fish?
Lots of good tidbits in here! You've done your research. It was exciting to see everything coming together.
Man this looks like fun! :D But definitely would love to see a massive ecosystem thrive!

Your boys getting big Chris good job with the pond buddy
Rainbow are are very opportunistic feeders so if the have no fish food available they will almost immediately transition over to natural foods like frogs tadpoles invertebrates ect. Keep up the good work
There you go pan for that gold! Good luck guys I know they're very cool video. Catch you guys on the next one
I'll be hiring Trevor for my excavation need , we build a couple addition a year and the odd new build , good going Trevor got the number and you helped an amazing family man . Great project
Please let him know how you found him!!
So much monty python love right there lol! Well done youngerling!
Full stop. Good luck and great way to teach your kids about nature and life in general.
Amazing project!!!... I'm so jealous... this would be a dream, to expand a small pond for fishing and make it your own... keep us updated please.
I hope you have some kind of contractual agreement with the land owner so you don't end up getting shafted in the future
Amazing how quickly people renege on the original agreement for all sorts of reasons only known to themselves!
Richard Culbertson very true. I hope that if Chris is putting in all the work like supplying and finances, that the land owner doesn’t shaft him in the future

Another GREAT VIDEO !! This is so exciting. How about a floating dock to feed the fish from.
New game LETS NAME THAT POND ?
That's a good one!
You should add all the trees that was taken from around the lake for shade and shelter for the fish
Loved the video. The diversity of content you produce is awesome!
Wow! Can’t wait to see it up and running! Really challenging and cool project mate
Your videos just keep getting better WB 👍👍👍
Hey that cow has calved behind you. That is a nice project
Did you do a before and after aerial view of the area?
Tad pole are a must and other long lasting food to sustaine the future fish.
Beautiful look at what glacial tilings look like.....:)
Get the turtle. Get the bass. No loose ends
@00:30 My reply: "She turned me into a Newt. I got better."
Monty pythons search for the holy grail. Awesome video 👍
Yep, Monty python's Holy Grail. My favorite was the french taunting, when the french castle guard slapped his helmeted head while looking loopy and confused. BUT: the meaning of life with Mr. Creosote barfing all over the place in a 5 star restaurant was darn funny.
Great job pond job looks great, glad your son has his own spot to fish in now!
Man, you’re like lightning. You were just talking about it a little while ago. Mmm... now I’m thinking extra tall Deerstand with a waterslide. Thanks great video. 🦐🎣
Im excited for this whole project, so i cant imagine how you guys are feeling.
Defenitely keep turtles out maybe add a couple grass carp to help clean it.
hahhaahah excellant the reference to Monty Pythons !!
Yo Holden Monty Python bro, great video team huge thanks to the growing team Peter, Trevor and of course Linden fishary. Yes trap that turtle and I'm sure I remember talk of a floating blind, could be a good fit for the job. Excellent job thanks for sharing :-)
I use the rotting flesh maggot feeders for my chooks here in Australia, they work great.

Very cool, and to have everyone come together is awesome great job!
Hey WB thanks for another great friday video. Have fun in Maine!
Some great, unique content from your channel. Cheers
The comment from the young man was from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Love the movie!!!!!!
Maggot bucket, five gallon pail with two inch holes in the bottom covered with plastic screen. The trout will get the flies and the maggots will burrow down when their ready to pupate and fall into the water. Great for small ponds, eliminating flies and feeding fish.
Loved the beginning, gotta watch the movie later now

Stickleback are good for trout ponds. Maybe some sort of local dace or chub
Full stop and shout out to the land owner for letting this happen

That game is actually very good and highly addictive
This is a good idea I'll add it to my wishlist.
good luck on your new venture chris
Great video. Frog crawfish crappie catfish tabpole. So you can have a equal environment for the trout.
Just watched this video...you asked for suggestions to what feed would be good to introduce in?...well I personally think that some kind of fresh water shrimp would make for a good choice...the trout not only would get these as an aid to help clean the pond...but after a season or two of feeding on shrimp...the meat of the fish turn a bright orange...the whole pellet feed idea can give trout a pale look to the flesh with a liver odour...but a diet that includes fresh water shrimp (scuds)will give trout a more natural taste...Good luck...I t was always my own personal dream to own a fishing pond of my own.Loved this video a lot...maybe one day for me if only I win the lotto 649..😅

what is the airspeed of a swallow?
I think it will be very good if you do a time lapse video of the whole area.
Looks like a good spot for a gravel pit!
Love the content man
What a wonderful project.
If trout eat any plant life duck weed grows incredibly fast and is mostly good protein. Only downside is it can get out of hand easily.
Nice attempt! Loved it
Are there beavers in your area? Will they commandeer the pond?
"she turned me into a newt!! " . "A newt?!?!". I got better.
Glad you found a sponsor!!!
Bare in mind that crayfish (clawdaddys) eat fish and will consume the young fish making them grow and fish numbers drop, frogs Yes, minnows Yes, good foliage that attract insects would also help in feeding the fish. Get rid of any pike and bass, not good for trout ponds
God knows how much kevin wanted to drive that thing lol
WOW LOVE YOUR SONS STORYS!
what is the wing speed velocity of a swallow (african) (no there isn't 2 carrying a coconut)
you can put in Minos, shiners, tadpoles , fly larva and any aquatic insects that trout ;like to eat
I think you could diffently grow some northern crawfish for food and then add leopard frogs to provide more food I bet some minnows or chubs would do great In that pond !
Living the dream!
Very cool man.
