      Hey Andy, thanks for the comment! We used a 10 litre (2.6 Gallon) tin of Cabot's AquaDeck and we sprayed one coat on roughly 40-50 metres of fence. I think we used just under half so the coverage would roughly be 1 gallon per 40 metres.

    That was a really great job on the fence with minimum overspray. I guess it’s all in the tip and pressure settings.
    Side note though idk what safety procedures you have in your region but in USA a respirator with organic vapor filter anytime you’re spraying paint or stain regardless of water or oil base. That little dust mask isn’t sufficient for the atomized particles you mention in the video. Other than that good on you mate. Great job. Cheers

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the great comment! We were super happy with how this one came out. Definitely does when it comes to getting the best finish you can!
      Great spot and we love the safety concern! So here in Australia, it is basically the same - we have very strict regulations on the types of ventilation and filtration that you should be used when spraying. The mask in this video is actually a GP1 level filtration mask and is completely fine to be used when spraying any water-based paints. These are single-use though, so we do recommend purchasing a reusable respirator.
      Cheers!

    How do you prevent painting the neighbors fence? Especially between the slats vertically. Thanks

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Dana, it really depends on how large the gaps are between your fence. With this fence there were no gaps and so only needed a spray shield at the top of the fence in some spots. If there are larger gaps between your fence, you may need to mask the neighbours side of the fence or add drop sheets to anything that might get sprayed between the gaps.
      Because it is airless there is minimal overspray and most of what you see in the air is just mist and can be washed off. With that said anything you aim at will get sprayed. It wont effect the neighbours side of the fence but if there is a bush on the other side and a big enough gap it will get sprayed. A simple drop sheet over the bush will prevent this.
      Thanks for your comment, hope this helps!

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jorge, the stain that we used in for this fence was water-based 😊 If you are spraying a solvent-based paint the process is the same, you just need to use the recommended thinner instead of water for flushing.
      Hope this helps!

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому +1

      Hey mate, thanks for your comment! To be completely honest we aren't sure what the going rate would be as we are not contractors ourselves. If I had to guess I would say that you would probably charge around the same amount, maybe a little bit more as the finish quality can be better on average. Where you are saving/making more money is in the time saved to complete your jobs. Spraying is roughly 4-8 times faster than brush and rolling and that's where the savings come in.
      Hope this helps!

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Vincente, you can definitely use the Rac X Tip guard (blue) with the FFLP310 tip! The Low Pressure tips actually work far better with the smaller pumps as you only require half the working pressure to atomise the paint! Hope that helps!

    How do you work around galvanized metal posts?

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Z D, thanks for the comment. Good question! If you would like to keep the clean galvanized metal look, we'd just mask up the post ahead of time with kraft paper or drape plastic to protect it from the spray. If you were looking to paint the post, your best idea would be to use a specialised metal primer and metal topcoat, as standard paint is not designed to stick to that sort of surface. Hope that helps!

    Is stain overspray a issue with neighbors homes next by?

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому

      Overspray isn't much of an issue, always be mindful however. With dropsheets and Graco Fine Finish Low Pressure Tips, we drastically minimised overspray when tackling the fence. With the FFLP308 tip as well, due to such a small orifice size, and sitting at the correct working pressure on the machine, we only needed very little pressure to effectively atomise the paint (resulting in far less overspray than a water-based acrylic in comparison). Hope this helps!

Both these units sit at the beginning of the professional contractor range and offer great value for money. Being in the contractor range they are super reliable and made to be a work horse - so as you get busier you don't have to worry if the unit can handle it. I'll put the links to both below so you can compare.

    How concerned should you be of all the overspray going out to your neighbour's???

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому

      Hey FJ, thanks for the great comment! It really depends - most of the mist that you see in the air is just mist and can simply be washed off anything it settles on. The only time I would be concerned is if there is something on your neighbour's side that is directly in the spray path. So if their house sits really close to the fence or they have hedges and trees that sit just over the fence.
      For those times we use a spray shield - getting someone to hold it along the top of the fence as you spray along. This ensures that nothing behind the fence will be directly hit by paint or stain.
      Hope this helps!

    Question: For a Graco tip, and Austrailian outdoor semi-transparent stain, I used a 211. at 2000psi. This did not go well. I feel like I should have dropped to 209 which is not rated for semi-transparent. Can I drop to 1000 psi with that 211 tip? Should I change the mesh type? Please let me know with the tip and psi. I had a brass regulator and 5000psi oil gauge at the gun. feel like we used way too much material. On the oil vs water based, I dont like spraying the oil and it's mess / cleanup issues. What do you suggest for a water product?

    • @GOIndustrial
      @GOIndustrial  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Dave, thank you for your comment! Without knowing the exact product you are spraying, we cannot make a specific recommendation. However, for this project, we used a Graco FFLP308 tip as well as blue 100 mesh filters for the stain. The psi range can vary depending on a wide range of factors and you should test on cardboard, increasing the pressure slightly until you get the perfect fan pattern. We ran the sprayer at about 1400psi with the 308 tip.
      We much prefer water-based products as well so for this project we used Cabot's Aquadeck. The Cabot's Deck & Exterior Stain is a great option as well and it offers a wider range of colour options.

    • @GOIndustrial

      I would definitely stick to Graco's range of Rac X Fine Finish Low Pressure Tips (FFLP) - if you're painting exterior latex or acrylic paint, I'd recommend going with the FFLP414 spray tip; this will keep overspray down, and your fan wide enough to not take for ages. When in doubt regarding overspray, make sure your pressure is as low as possible on the machine without experiencing those lines in your spray fan. Secondly, have a second person hold a piece of cardboard or dropsheet on the opposite side of the fence as you spray. We were lucky on this project as the distance between houses was far enough to not worry about overspray.
