Great amps and head. I just tried a used 15 watt BC. For $800 it was a great deal. Just built my own so not necessary but sounded about as good. Really nice amps.

@@scottykingdavid Black Cat has tremolo and two distinct channels. It's 20w (EL84) and has a different preamp topology. The cub is 30W (EL34) and has one channel with one dedicated gain stage boost, and two switchable master volumes to allow you to set up a solo boost.
From what I'm hearing, Black Cat is hot-rodded Vox while the Cub is more JMP territory with some Vox chime up top. More versatility than a straight Vox or Marshall amp.
Does the Cub still feature an EF86 preamp?
No BadCat dropped that feature from the updated Cub .

No. The circuit was completely redesigned. From my experience, amps with both the EF86 and the 12ax7 in it tend to have a darker voice on the 12ax7 with less gain, and the EF86 adds top end and gain. This amp is more present and brighter with just the 12ax7 and there is a new OD mode that adds another tuned Tube gain stage. I like EF86s too, but I dont think you'll miss it with this circuit update.
I hope it’s just how the speaker is recorded on this demo, sounds kinda thin compare to last generation(s) tbh. 😔
@@GalloDelCielohey! I’m thinking of picking one of these amps up. Do you think it has enough gain on tap to play Cream/Hendrix/Allman Brothers stuff? Or is the Hot Cat a better option?

I got one a few months ago and love it. Play it in stereo with my Deluxe. They are perfect together. By itself it rocks pretty well also.
