As an old player I am okay with the new ways of special summoning from the extra deck I am just not okay with how unessisarily strong the cards that are summoned are for how easily they can come out

I know this isn’t a reference to it but there was a ruling at Pasadena regional last year, when time rules came into effect (not YCS Pasadena), where someone did, in round 7, game 3, respond with dark bribe to upstart. Called a judge after dark bribe because he wanted to know why his opponent drew a card even though he activated upstart. Time was called and it was a draw because 8000 to 8000 LP...
@@TheBloodGamePL No Black Hole doesn't target. It simply destroys all monsters, no targeting. To be a target effect the card has to explicitly state the phrase "target" so black hole can actually take out Obelisk. Thankfully I'm pretty sure black hole is limited and can't be searched easily

There was a time when duels lasted 1-2 hours and it was very difficult to create a winning strategy. The fusions were something incredible, seeing over 4000 in attack was crazy but fortunately it was very rare. I stopped playing this game several years ago, but seeing the new strategies with so many chain summons and crazy cards ... it is literally another game
I agree with everything besides the time limit and the 4000 atk. I played way back when during school lunch and we could get a game or two in in 45 minutes easily without meta, and one of my friends used Fiber Jar. And for 4k attack. Axe of despair. XD
I remember using "attack goblin force" thinking it was a great card and I'm not lying when I say it was (at least, playing in a friendly enviroment, with no access to the rarest cards and without any knowledge of some rules, like destroy a card doesn't negate it)
I really don’t see what’s so wrong with wanting to play madolche. The archetype isn’t even that old, it’s fun and has modern mechanics. I feel like the term noob was applied a bit too liberally here. Kinda seems like anyone who won’t do anything to win the tournament is just seen as an inferior member of the community

Dunno but at this era there is no way you can win with tier 2 meta like witchcraft or harpies except you have extreme luck and deep understanding towards meta games, like you can still win against satellarknight with ghostrick or snychron 3 years ago but nowadays you won't able to win even with 2rd tier meta. The gap between tier 2 and tier 1 is too high rn.
@@charlescooks9360 salad have a lot representative because how cheap is it, and how they only needs 2 cards that isn't specific monster to start their combo which can leads into either otk or negations and extremely forgiving if you missplayed, now, compare to crusadia, they needs at least 3 cards in their hand to start their combo and with 4 starting hand if your enemy stop you you die. Yu-Gi-Oh went to absolutely nuts after 2017 ycs, and you know it.

I felt the “No meta” part. Whenever I make a room in EDOpro, I always put “STRICTLY NO META” (sometimes I add “NO KASH”) on the notes because I just want to have fun or test decks.
I'm that guy who has to look at the card when my opponent plays something. Being a casual player, I'm not familiar with a lot of cards that are out there, so I want to know what it does.
That's kinda the pain of having to keep up with the game and every new meta card. Pretty much the only reason why I would play at tournaments. Don't wanna be the guy that makes my opponent explain everything he does.
Idk what the better players want us to do, read and memorize every card before playing? I mean we have to learn somehow, even if you just take a year off you’re going to have to read a lot of cards again

It's like a thunder dragon deck player carrying around a crystal beast deck for casual duels. The only way someone would be a noob in the context of the video is if they made actual trash decks they didn't know how to use and then pretended like that was a fluke and they used the wrong deck. Well that's actually in place because of this guy at a German regional tournament that came in with a deck of (not even lying) 2222 cards with the intent of wasting time by constantly shuffling it. How that would help in a duel is beyond me, unless they planned to piss of their opponent with constant shuffling to the point where their opponent would just simply ragequit.
Whats a pendulum Monster anyway. I stopped playing when Synchro Monster got out of Hand and they had to invent the XYZ-Monsters to counter them... then these got out of hand and rifl-stomped everything. So i stopped after about 3 month after Synchros got introduced. Whats all new in Yu-Gi-Oh! ?
@@Grimmsborith1992 basically pendulums can also be played as spells, which have an effect different from their monster effect when played. they also have a number called a pendulum scale, and when you use 2 pendulum cards, you can special summon as many monsters you want from your hand and/or as many pendulums you can from your extra deck(they go there instead of the gy) between the level of the numbers on the pendulum scales(ex. if you have a pendulum with a scale of 2 and one with a scale of 8 on the field, you can summon as many level 3-7 monsters you want). With the release of Links, they also added 2 new Extra Monster Zones. All monsters that are special summoned from the extra deck have to go to the extra monster zone, including pendulums, and you can only use 1 extra zone at a time. Now, if you want to summon them in your regular monster zones, you have to use Link monsters. Link monsters are extra deck monsters and have to be summoned first by tributing as many monsters as the link rating in the card(written where the def is normally written) and meeting the criteria in the link monster's description. Link monsters have arrows to them that can point to Monster zones, and if you have one on your field, you can special summon monsters from your extra deck to main monster zones the arrows point to. Link monsters also cannot switch to defense position.

I know the big ones for me is I definitely have decks I consider just fun decks, but I don't feel that bad about it. I mean I know it'd be a waste of my time to try and make things like my barrel dragons competitive, since it won't work, so I just embrace wanting to have it do what I want it too, and just accept it as a weak deck to only break out against new players or super casual settings. I also got that duel spirit, no shame, Dice Jar is my homie.

With called by the grave at one again it's even more risky than usual cuz ash blossom (not even gonna bring up drawing desires off of desires).
@@Myron_The_SlavicwolfI still do it for draw spells I always consider my options before I play the spell obviously but 1 card stopping a search is a 3/40 chance I'd much rather take the risk over not drawing 2 cards. Besides I usually play strats the can afford the desires chance (also i play 2 desires to decrease the chance to draw it post desires)
@@dragonMaster24921 I've actually played desires myself in decks that don't care too much about the banished cards. Yes it draws you 2 cards but sometimes you'll banish all 3 of something or the cards that got banished would've been nice to have at that point in time.

Actually, here's an idea for a format: No extra deck highlander. You can only have one copy of each card with a deck of exactly 60 cards, and you"re limited to one special summon per turn, just like normal summoning (even mandatory effects)

To be fair, when playing with friends we would make some random and fun themed decks and when someone would take it too seriously (mostly excessive bragging or crap talking) the rest of us would pull out the "Main" decks. I remember I was testing a deck themed around three different virus traps (was re watching the Clone Wars arc centered around the Blue Shadow Virus when I got the idea to make it) and a friend keep going on and on about how his deck was the best deck in the world (apparently he "fixed" a pro's deck). Pulled out my Monarchs and wiped the floor with him.
"I'm a Blue-Eyes master, I've been using this deck for 15 years" I was out of the game for 14 years and I still play dumb-ass dragons lol! (Holds Chaos MAX deck to chest)
i swear 90% of this is legit what my friends are saying all the times. theyre the kind of people who think yugioh is too fast nowadays and would rather play goat format (which is a cool format dont get me wrong) but 1 of them said he thinks a custom fan format called trinity makes way more sense with modern cards... (you can only summon twice each turn in that format) LMAO great skit guys loved it :)
that kinda makes since with the new cards when you can win a duel on the first turn by flooding your board with cards that can with the right combos never leave the field there is no reason to play that kinda game

That first one legit happened to be true one time tho. I was playing against this chain burn player way back when xyz where the current thing and he activates Changing Destiny and ends up interpreting it as the opposite of what it actually does because of its confusing text. I point out that thats literally the opposite of what it did in the anime, and that it would have seen at least _some_ play if it worked the way he thought it did. He called a dude over who always taunted about having judge qualifications and that guy with his crooked-ass spearhead-jaw agreed with him "You cant judge the tcg by the anime, man" That day I learned that all prejudices are based in truth to a degree, especially those regarding the bottom-feeding serf class of chain burn players, even lower than my casual self.

I quit playing Yugioh right around the time someone filled their whole board with creatures and set 5 and still had 5 in hand. I was like..... "Can you do that every game." And he was like "Pretty much." Scooped up my cards and havent played since.
I still play casually with friends but yeah, Links and Pendulums were too much for me. Plus I know the game was gradually moving in this direction anyway but it seems like if you don't win by the 1st or 2nd turn, you're basically playing the game wrong.

I know this isn’t a reference to it but there was a ruling at Pasadena regional last year, when time rules came into effect (not YCS Pasadena), where someone did, in round 7, game 3, respond with dark bribe to upstart. Called a judge after dark bribe because he wanted to know why his opponent drew a card even though he activated upstart. Time was called and it was a draw because 8000 to 8000 LP...

There was a time when duels lasted 1-2 hours and it was very difficult to create a winning strategy. The fusions were something incredible, seeing over 4000 in attack was crazy but fortunately it was very rare. I stopped playing this game several years ago, but seeing the new strategies with so many chain summons and crazy cards ... it is literally another game
I agree with everything besides the time limit and the 4000 atk. I played way back when during school lunch and we could get a game or two in in 45 minutes easily without meta, and one of my friends used Fiber Jar. And for 4k attack. Axe of despair. XD
I remember using "attack goblin force" thinking it was a great card and I'm not lying when I say it was (at least, playing in a friendly enviroment, with no access to the rarest cards and without any knowledge of some rules, like destroy a card doesn't negate it)

Yu-Gi-Oh went to absolutely nuts after 2017 ycs, and you know it.

I felt the “No meta” part. Whenever I make a room in EDOpro, I always put “STRICTLY NO META” (sometimes I add “NO KASH”) on the notes because I just want to have fun or test decks.
I'm that guy who has to look at the card when my opponent plays something. Being a casual player, I'm not familiar with a lot of cards that are out there, so I want to know what it does.
That's kinda the pain of having to keep up with the game and every new meta card. Pretty much the only reason why I would play at tournaments. Don't wanna be the guy that makes my opponent explain everything he does.

Well that's actually in place because of this guy at a German regional tournament that came in with a deck of (not even lying) 2222 cards with the intent of wasting time by constantly shuffling it. How that would help in a duel is beyond me, unless they planned to piss of their opponent with constant shuffling to the point where their opponent would just simply ragequit.

Whats a pendulum Monster anyway. I stopped playing when Synchro Monster got out of Hand and they had to invent the XYZ-Monsters to counter them... then these got out of hand and rifl-stomped everything. So i stopped after about 3 month after Synchros got introduced. Whats all new in Yu-Gi-Oh! ?
@@Grimmsborith1992 basically pendulums can also be played as spells, which have an effect different from their monster effect when played. they also have a number called a pendulum scale, and when you use 2 pendulum cards, you can special summon as many monsters you want from your hand and/or as many pendulums you can from your extra deck(they go there instead of the gy) between the level of the numbers on the pendulum scales(ex. if you have a pendulum with a scale of 2 and one with a scale of 8 on the field, you can summon as many level 3-7 monsters you want).
With the release of Links, they also added 2 new Extra Monster Zones. All monsters that are special summoned from the extra deck have to go to the extra monster zone, including pendulums, and you can only use 1 extra zone at a time. Now, if you want to summon them in your regular monster zones, you have to use Link monsters. Link monsters are extra deck monsters and have to be summoned first by tributing as many monsters as the link rating in the card(written where the def is normally written) and meeting the criteria in the link monster's description. Link monsters have arrows to them that can point to Monster zones, and if you have one on your field, you can special summon monsters from your extra deck to main monster zones the arrows point to. Link monsters also cannot switch to defense position.

I know the big ones for me is I definitely have decks I consider just fun decks, but I don't feel that bad about it. I mean I know it'd be a waste of my time to try and make things like my barrel dragons competitive, since it won't work, so I just embrace wanting to have it do what I want it too, and just accept it as a weak deck to only break out against new players or super casual settings.

With called by the grave at one again it's even more risky than usual cuz ash blossom (not even gonna bring up drawing desires off of desires).

Besides I usually play strats the can afford the desires chance (also i play 2 desires to decrease the chance to draw it post desires)

To be fair, when playing with friends we would make some random and fun themed decks and when someone would take it too seriously (mostly excessive bragging or crap talking) the rest of us would pull out the "Main" decks.
I remember I was testing a deck themed around three different virus traps (was re watching the Clone Wars arc centered around the Blue Shadow Virus when I got the idea to make it) and a friend keep going on and on about how his deck was the best deck in the world (apparently he "fixed" a pro's deck). Pulled out my Monarchs and wiped the floor with him.

That first one legit happened to be true one time tho. I was playing against this chain burn player way back when xyz where the current thing and he activates Changing Destiny and ends up interpreting it as the opposite of what it actually does because of its confusing text.
I point out that thats literally the opposite of what it did in the anime, and that it would have seen at least _some_ play if it worked the way he thought it did. He called a dude over who always taunted about having judge qualifications and that guy with his crooked-ass spearhead-jaw agreed with him "You cant judge the tcg by the anime, man"
That day I learned that all prejudices are based in truth to a degree, especially those regarding the bottom-feeding serf class of chain burn players, even lower than my casual self.
