The reason her husband divorced her was bcuz he was jealous of her having success as a teacher, while his career as an architect was failing. He had no faith in her. And that lady who was on her back all the time was jealous of her too.
He divorced her because she was spending all her time on her work and wasn’t there for him. A relationship needs caretaking. You can’t expect a partner to wait for tou
There is no ugly face when it comes to crying. It's a soul and body expression love that the person feels for another and is sharing in their pain. Or it is the soul that is trying to heal, there is nothing to be ashamed about that and certainly nothing ugly about love or healing. Sorry for multiple comments, youtube still hasn't added a edit button.
So happy to see someone react to this beautiful movie. I'm a college professor, and watching this when I was in high school was so transformative for me. So inspiring.
MJ you are one of the ONLY reactors on UA-cam who have actually REACTED to this movie! How does that feel? I have been waiting and waiting for someone to finally react to this and here you are 😍🥰 THANK YOU
She did nothing wrong with going in all sunshine and smiles. We need more people like that when we’re dealing with less empathy and kindness for each other.
When this movie came out… I was in 6th grade. I went with a few of my friends. This movie changed my life. It was the first time I saw my own reality on the screen. My class dealt with a lot of gangs, racism and it was a spitting image of what was going on in my school & it was like that up until I graduated.
My best friend and I seen this on a blind. Watch went in cold came out with 😢 of joy. One of my favorite "teacher" films. Erin Gruwell and her class of 95 Perry Meridian H.S.
When I was in middle school my middle school was Woodrow Wilson middle school I was in 7th grade and I was in class 203 and we did this whole Freedom writers thing where we watched the movie read the book and had our own journals we did a toast for change and everything and we got to meet one of the actual freedom writers she came in and we had an assembly it was Maria Reyes who was actually played by Ava in the movie. And we did it all again that next year when I was in 8th grade too and we got to do a video call with the actual teacher Erin Gruwell and I just love this movie sooo much such a great movie I loved your reaction.
I ❤️ Hillary Swank. from The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer & The Next Karate Kid, to Million Dollar Baby & The Hunt. Any movie she stars she kills it. Proceed with caution if and when you do, Boys Don't Cry. Her magnum opus and a emotional gut punch that will haunt you.
When I was younger, I felt for the husband. Now that I'm older, I'm starting to see how selfish her husband was. He really could've supported her with what she was doing.
Should watch Stand & deliver, it's a similar movie like this , based on a true story as well feature my HS! The films show how it is for a kid living in the LA area. Most born into gangs, hoods with broken families or families tied together but parents arguing. The same with teachers giving up but there's always a couple that don't give up. These films are good representations of LA schools although some can be exaggeration as it's hollwood
I love this movie so much!! Wish they did more like this, it's so heart wrenching to see how many roadblocks the teacher encountered just trying to help those kids, mad frustrating
Another thing also. They shot scenes at 2 different schools. The part where there was a big fight outside was at my old high school over there. A lot of great people went to that school
She reminds me of one principal we had of many we had in my High school we even did a walk out as students and staff to try to save this man but sadly we lost him as the best principal we had
My 9th grade teacher and 10th grade teacher were amazing teachers. And they both were my English teacher. They cared so much about me and still mean something to me. I’m 26 now
Not many people have reacted to this, and its a tragedy. This was honestly one of the best videos I've seen on the platform in a long, long time. Its a heartbreaker of a movie at times, but it's so, so good. Keep it up.
Glad you finally reacted to this 1. Hope you get around to The Brave One, starring Jodie Foster and Terrance Howard. Hope you do Coach Carter (Samuel L. Jackson), and Antwone Fisher (Denzel Washington).
That's funny, me and another guy was literally talking about this movie in chat when we was watching the Blind side. I don't even know how many times iv seen this movie by now but it gets me everytime I watch it. Such a good movie. I had a feeling you like this movie.
I brought the DVD,and I used to take it too school. And we would watch it in the library during lunch that's where the kids who didn't wanna eat lunch went lol
Turn on the light. If you can't see the light in the dark. Be the light. Even if it's a small spark. I always remember when she says that. Turn on a small light, in a dark room. We can be the light.
I saw the movie first before I read the book, found it in the library when I was a library aide my senior yr in high school. The book was great except the entries are anonymous, so you wonder if this is through a boy or girl's pov but their experiences as a teen really draw you in
Fun fact: I had met Hilary and her husband at a vip event that I was working at in 2011. Bill Burr did mention this film in his stand up. Spoke about Black movies.
I said this movie for the first time in middle school and it was a lot to take in for me as a 12-year-old knowing that these kids were only a few years older than me and they’ve already been through so much. I didn’t have many great teachers but I have a few one of them who I’m still in contact with who always made sure that I was able to push through and do good.
this was based off Wilson High School which is in my city Long Beach and the beginning park scene in the movie is MLK Park which is a park i grew up going to. This movie has a special place in my heart.
This movie is a classic I got to personal recommendations for ; "Dangerous minds" its similar to freedom writers and the second one "take the lead" its based on a real story of a teacher who changes kids lives
People should be so much nicer and respectful to teachers. It's like the hardest job, for the people with the best intentions, for the lowest pay. It's like a version of behind a nun swear to god.
Love this movie so much. School was also my safe haven. Fun fact: I got to meet and take a picture with one of the original Freedom Writers. Glad you enjoyed the movie MJ!❤❤
This is a good movie. Here are some fun facts: The teacher was played by Hillary Swank. She was in The Next Karate Kid & Patrick Dempsey’s breakout role was the 80s movie Can’t Buy Me Love. It was the inspiration for Love Don’t Cost A Thing with Nick Cannon. Andre was played by singer Mario. He resembles Chris Rock.
I went to Barnes and noble and I was done then next thing I saw the 15th or 20th anniversary book and I was like yup you’re coming home with me. I wanted that book forever
That's cool you know who Patrick Dempsey is, now you should check out one of my childhood favorites starring him called RUN released in theaters 1991 👍
Growing up Long Beach was a journey, it was beautiful and tragic. Going to elementary and friends became enemies by the time high school came. I went to Roosevelt elementary then was bussed out to Newcomb and Milikan. Most of my people went to Long Beach Poly and Wilson

i used to watch this movie so much in middle school on the days when teacher didn't have us doing anything we watched this 😅 this is a throwback fr, & i got it on dvd😁💯😅
I was the white dude in the class. I grew up in Cahokia, Illinois. I was the only white kid in almost every class up until highschool. This movie is very reflective of real life in the hood from every perspective. This movie is a masterpiece. Whats messed up is all of the teachers in the hood teach out of the kindness of their heart because they deserve far more than they are paid . My favorite teacher was a black lady named Mrs. Graham/Mrs. Carson. She helped me with my adhd and went above and beyond to help any child that needed it.
Fun Fact: When the students are having dinner with survivors, they are actually the real survivors that talked to the students that the movie was about
I love this movie! It’s one of my favorites! You should definitely check out the book. If the movie pulled on your heartstrings, the book definitely will. Great vid and stay blessed!!! 🙏🏽✊🏽🔥❤️
MTV used to play this movie all the time back in the day, I miss those days
I remember BET playing it a couple times too
I remember those days😭
i miss those days toooo lol. Ive seen this movie so many times lol. and *Waist Deep* with tyrese gibson
omg yesss!
MTV was awesome. You'd see Viva La Bam, High School Stories/Scandals, TRL, True Life, Real World, etc.

Theres another movie about a teacher in kind of a rural school where her man is WAY better which was super refreshing!
@luciuscabralzenardo2897 What movie is that? I'd love to know! It reminds me of "Beyond The Blackboard." I love movies like that!

No. He wasn't jealous

She ain’t ever been to a school in south central cuz shit happens like that all the time.
She needs to watch Lean On Me
@@vantes323vantes3not no more gmo baby
Nah fr first thing I said bro 😂 but this is a much better movie overall so idk if she can watch lean on me now and appreciate it as much.

The real life guy who plays Marcus is a motivational speaker now and he came to my high school to speak
MJ you are one of the ONLY reactors on UA-cam who have actually REACTED to this movie! How does that feel? I have been waiting and waiting for someone to finally react to this and here you are 😍🥰 THANK YOU
I get so annoyed when I see reactors doing recent movies (mostly all of the same ones) but not the lesser known ones they're soo good!
"..She's getting defensive. I don't think that's what he's trying to say..." ummmm that's EXACTLY what he was trying to say.

Are schools there still like this? Or did it change for the better as years gone by.
@@kylecedrickgraciano9743 it was wild in the 90s, some things are better and some things are the same.

Coach Carter has similar vibes, although maybe not as bleak.
Watched this in school, mannnn 😭 the whole class was crying
"You have been blessed with a burden" That line broke my heart
In a deleted scene her dad stood up for the kids. Its a great scene I recommend looking it up.
“Dangerous Minds” another good one
Only The Strong was a childhood favorite.
