My daughter came out to me. I simply asked:
    1. Does she make you happy?
    2. Are you happy?
    3. Let me know if she breaks my little girl's heart, same dad rules apply

My daughter came to me one night and said we need to talk. I said ok sit on my lap cause she looked so sad. She said I need to tell you something I'm like ok what is it. She told me she was bisexual. My response was ok whatever makes you happy makes me happy. The saddest thing is she had attempted suicide because she was afraid nobody would accept her. My family accepts her yet her dad and his family doesn't know because of how she knows they feel about that. I want my daughter to be happy. That's all I want for her is happiness. Her happiness is my happiness.

    Accept your child.
    Love is a universal feeling.
If you have experienced love then you know how your child feels.
Tell them you are there for them no matter what.
It should not be a let down. Still your child. Any parent should be happy their child knows how to love & not hate.

However, I am not gay but, but one day i asked him what would he say if i was (i think i showed him this vid). 1. Hug them
    2. Tell them you love them
    3. Tell them you have their back,

My first child was born Kody. When Kody was four I knew that he was different. We weren't taught how to handle this stuff so I just did what most parents do. I ignored it until my child came to me. When my child was 18 I found out that not only was he pansexual but also transexual. My oldest son Kody became my oldest daughter Crystal. She still hasn't done much to herself for fear of what people will say and do to her. Trump doesn't make it any easier. I'm so afraid for her every day that she will hurt herself or worse. This song makes me so sad and I cry everytime I hear it.

It doesn't matter his age, I'm 62 and I know about compassion for human beings, whether gay, straight, transgender, it doesn't matter. You can't be taught compassion and unconditional love, you have it or not. I couldn't imagine any family member of mine, friend, or stranger for that matter, fearing me or my reaction to their sexuality. I would hope that my lifetime actions would prove that I could be their safe haven whenever they need it. I'm sure I would pass the "test" and they would be assured I would not be angry or disappointed in them. My main concern would be for them and their well being, and how hard their life will be because the world still has a long way to come for acceptance. So much progress has been made in the past 50 years, and just the past 10 has been better, but still, it can't be easy.
No matter what, I will be there for anyone who needs a shoulder or a grandma/mom hug! Thanks for this video, it was sad and frightening.

    • @mordirit8727

      The age does matter.
Kim you sound like a good person; good people are scarce. Most people are just okay enough to get by. Not very nice, not very rude, not very loving, not very evil, just average.
And the way an average person acts, the way a "just about okay" person acts is largely guided by their times.
My family is left and right comprised of okay people; that's why I have only come out as bisexual to my sister and cousin (who are just okay people but they are in my generation so yay ^^) and my great-aunt who is the one *actually* good person around; even though she's in her 80s she's the most open minded in my family, because she's sweet like that; but there are lots of not really evil people out there, who still think that they should have compassion and love for human beings in general... Who'll act on "that's how things are" mentality from their time; my great-grandmother was a very nice woman, but she still believed we should execute people who talked well about Communism, because that's what reality was when she was a girl 100 years ago.

Let's just hope things continue to improve and soon we won't even be having these types of conversations! I'd love to see lots more progress in my lifetime, where everyone is treated with respect. I'm hoping the "haters" will be few and far between.

Having had a family member who had to come out, because someone outted him to his strict religious family. He had support from us cousins and his friends/co-workers, he's okay now. It made it that much harder because he couldn't control the situation.

I watched her go through daily condemnation not only from her peers but her own family and I would never wish that on ANYONE. If my children came to me and told me they were gay, I would hug them tight and tell them to never let anyone make them feel ashamed of who they are. As long as they aren't hurting themselves or anyone else, I will love and support them always.

I can’t imagine any situation where I’ll stop loving my kids. The only thing I want from them is for them to be honest with me and to feel like they can tell me anything. It’s too scary to think of them bottling up any negative feelings about themselves and eventually becoming so distant that I can’t help them with what they’re going through. That’s my greatest fear. I just want them to stay within reach and feel like with me, they’ll always have a place to belong no matter how crazy the world gets.😢

Here’s how I see it: children are who they are. THEY don’t change just because they let you know. They are who they’ve ALWAYS been. The only things that change are the expectations that YOU as a parent have already put on your children’s future. That’s why it can be so hard for parents to come to terms with things like this; sexuality, gender, all that kind of stuff. Because you have already pictured their entire future a certain way, so it can FEEL like now you don’t know your own kid anymore. It’s been so ingrained in our society that heterosexuality is the “default” setting, but there IS no default setting. Nothing “turns” you anything. You are who you are.

I’m super late on this reaction but this song came out at the right time for me. I was mentally unstable and having a hard time dealing with my bipolar disorder, drinking too much, and my father didn’t know what to do with me and kicked me out. Luckily enough my grandpa let me live with him but the lowest of low I was at was deep. I reached out to fam, friends, coworkers and just texted them my suicide note and had taken one too many pain pills with alcohol and just laid down to sleep. Ten mins into my sleep I had a call from a friend of mine and he made get dressed and go to the hospital with him. Then he put this song on for me on the ride Over. If it wasn’t for him I don’t think I’d be alive today. No one else really reached out 😞 my fam just called the next morning and we’re like “ oh see? Just ur dramatic ass playing games again”. Granted I’m glad my best friend saved me but hearing that just cut the wound deeper. But after that this song was on repeat for a long ass time.

I never had a place to call my own, I never had a home. Ain't nobody calling my phone, where you been, where you at, what's on your mind? They say everybody's life precious, but nobody care about mine.

  • @Luckcat16
    @Luckcat16 4 роки тому

I think the best thing you can do to start with is to ask questions. It gives you time to think and time to evaluate where your kid is at. Plus, it's okay to say, "this is a lot for me to process and I want to make sure that I am in the right place mentally so that I can support you the best I can. I'm going to take a little time to sort things out. But always know that I love you no matter what." It's okay to not know what to do in that moment, but buy time to think before speaking.

Before I came out I felt just like this kid in this video not having nobody to talk to about it feeling like I was unwanted by friends and family . At one point I even thought about ending it all cuz I felt unloved until my mom and dad talked to me about it . Coming out is ruff when you don't have no support

When people ask me, "How would you react to you kid being gay?" I usually just want to ask them, "What could your child do that makes you decide to kick them out? Now compare all those things to being gay and tell me it makes sense for anyone to do that."

Throughout the whole video i was waiting and waiting. The minutes went by and i was waiting for you to realize
that this is actually the suicide prevention hotline.
A study has shown that when this title was released back then, Logic and his song actually might have saved hundreds of lives.
Calls to that helpline went up significantly.

What we have to remember as parents is are we going to love our children any less no is it going to make us think that our children are less than they are no we just have to support them we didn't fail as a parent we raise them to have their own choices their own thoughts and their own minds and we just have to respect that just like we taught them

what do you need to be taught? love is love, if the person makes you happy and you're happy with that person, then go for it! love your child no matter what, that's it. your child probably is taking a hard time with other people about this matter so just be the person who supports them, bc they need to know they're loved!

I would support them because it has nothing to do with anything else except who they love. On one hand I understand not being taught how to deal with that, but on the other hand you should love your kid the way they are. There are parents out there who have kids that grow up to be murderers or rapists and you’ll still hear the parent saying “they’ve done horrible things but that’s still my child and I still love them”, but people can’t love their kid for being gay ? That always baffled me.
    I absolutely loved this❤️

I feel like i just commented this on a different video but i have a lot of depression due to bipolar disorder and in my low periods songs like that one help. I know the story in the song is different, but i know what its like to not feel accepted. With some people you get the sense they're going through a script, saying what they have too (and i know thats my brain just saying that at times) but songs like this show me people i dont even know dont want me to hurt myself, so the people who do know me must be sincere. Its a backwards way to get there, but sometimes i feel like i have to trick my own brain to get my mind where it needs to be.
Anyways sorry for the longwinded comment. I watch a few music reaction channels but your thoughts and they way you talk about things man, youre my favorite for sure.

As hard as it is to find true happiness in this world why would anyone want to deny someone their right to happiness? I have 4 kids and wish them nothing but happiness. If you have kids give them a big hug and tell them you love them. That will go along way.

My son is 10 years old and we started discussing things like this when he was younger.
I wanted him to know that I will ALWAYS love and support him, regardless.
My love for my child is NOT conditional. My love for my child is most important, over any and everything in life.
It's SO important that my child knows that they can come to me about anything, without fear.
I've always told him that he will never come in last place because I will be behind him cheering.
When we discussed sexuality, I advised him that he could always come to me and I will support him 100%. Full stop.
He told me how much he loved me, appreciated that I talked to him about it and we hugged and snuggled.
I'll be damned if I lose my child to suicide or something like that due to him not feeling like he is supported or isn't loved.
I will love him until my last breath and even further, into eternity. As long as he is happy, I am happy. 💙
(He did tell me that he isn't gay. I said, "Okay buddy! You don't have to have any kind of answer now, because I wasn't asking if you are. I just needed you to know that if that were the case or something that comes up later, I am here and I will stand beside you.
    NO MATTER WHAT."

I wish Brittani would have seen this or that the # would have saved her life back in 2017. She was going through so much life crap and she took pills a handful of times b4 the last time actually did get the best of her BUT I don't know if she did it on purpose or not. Tests showed she had fentanyl in her system but idk if she knew or not that the pills she took had fentanyl in them or not. Still gets me to this day!
