After disappearing for 5 months I’m baaack! I hope you guys like the Shrek Bucket Hat tutorial. I originally wanted to upload this for Halloween (what a cute Halloween costume?!) so this was filmed way back in October haha 😫

Hello there! Firstly let me start by saying that this pattern is one of the best ones out there for beginners! I myself made two of them. I would like to know however, how do you wash and dry these hats without it losing its original shape?

Here are some tips I use when washing crochet hats:
1. Hand wash in cool water with mild detergent.
2. Avoid wringing or twisting the hat. It's best to squeeze out the excess water by pressing.
3. Reshape the hat and lay it flat on a towel to air dry. (I've seen some people say they avoid hanging the hat so stitches don't stretch )
4. If using a machine, put the hat in a mesh laundry bag and wash on a gentle cycle with cool water, then reshape and air dry.

AHHHH okay I'm not necessarily a beginner crocheter but I'm also not necessarily advanced but to maybe save someone else some time make sure you're using the right size yarn and hook 😭 I've frogged this project three times before realizing I wasn't using the right size yarn 🥲😃😃 I'm gonna drive myself bananas 🤣😭

hi!! i’m planning to make this for my sister as a gift but i only have 4ply, do you think anything will change if i use that and still follow your video? (no increasing rounds, etc) 🙏🏻
I suggest you double up your yarn (use two strands while crocheting) and you should have similar results as the pattern in the video :)

I haven’t personally tried making the bucket hat with other yarn weights but you can just add more or less increase rounds to achieve your desired size 😊

Hii i used a little bit over one skein of 100g yarn so im estimating around 120-150g (i sold the hat already so I can’t check 😟)

Unfortunately the pattern didn’t work out for me I had to switch between stitches too much and switching stitches is hard since I mostly rely on muscle memory to crochet I really wanted to the hat but I understand it’s just the pattern I also would have liked a written pattern but I understand

Common reasons for that is either your tension is too tight or you’re missing stitches. Try using a larger hook size and/ or counting your stitches every row to make sure you aren’t skipping stitches 😊
