I love the sign behind you. "Stay humble. Be kind. Work hard." What a great way to live.
I was just sitting in front of my sewing machine, thinking of what to sew and then came a notification of this video. Wow, what a coincidence 😁
I love your videos, I made the bodice pattern, and now you showed the bottom how to create it. Love love how you explain, quick and down to business, Tks for sharing . And that creative link I would love to know more about that, because I love to paint but have no idea what I am doing ...lol ❤️🌹❤️🌹 and that looks like exactly what I am looking for . ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Alisa!! Thanks for the tutorial & information on extending a shirt to a dress.. Also love hearing you speak Russian & then translating it for us….
💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
Thanks so much! 😊
Hello Alisa. Another very useful video. My goodness, that clip of you wearing your dress.....sooo beautiful. 🥰
Christine, hi!!! My IG account has been locked down - I guess someone tried to hack it, so as soon as I get it sorted out - I will write you a message :) Hope all the kids and grandkids are doing amazing!
Thoughtful Creativity - CRAFT, SEW, DIY oh wow. That’s no good And no worries at all. We’re all doing very well. Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather. Luv it. Hugs. 😘
Thank you so much. Video is very helpfull. Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe.
Very lovely....and you explain it so well....Thank you my dear friend.
The gathered skirt one looks great for upcycling too! Just get an old top or one from the thrift store, make the gathered skirt, and attach them. Might need to do it in a contrasting fabric but that’s still cute
Dear sewing Friend.. thank you for this video .. it was for sure very helpful.. you made yourself a very versatile dress 👗 💕
My pleasure 😊
So sweet! Asked the question to UA-cam, "How to join a top to a skirt to make a dress!?"
This video pops up!: Of course! Thank you!
Thank you for your quick response. Love your videos.
Beautiful. Look easy to sew
Wow that creative. Thank you.
simple and pretty T-shirt dress 👍🌷
I loved it, thank you for your tutorial.
Thank you very much. I love your videos!!!
Thank you soooo much for all your videos! I have made a lot of tops and skirts just from your videos.....thank you so much for your inspiration, and your tips because I was so scared of screwing things up! With your easy construction videos it took the scary out of sewing my own clothes - now if I could only figure out how to understand written patterns I could start creating more intermediate projects - pants, zippers and buttons are so difficult because I just cannot understand the lingo and instructions in patterns - I don't understand why I can't figure them out - literally I feel like they are written in a foreign language - could that maybe a series of videos you might think about doing?!
Great idea, hoping that Alysa will read this.
Yes me too! I had this problem when I started sewing and still sometimes with say a vogue pattern. I literally cannot translate the written instructions to the pieces of cloth in front of me. I can't tell you how many facings I've put on the wrong way. What helped me was indie patterns which usually have video tutorials and also you tubers like Alysa who break down things down really to the simplest components. I wish I had started with the indies first before the big four....
Very helpful Alisa and I love that striped dress you made! I pretty much live in tshirt dresses in the summer:) I purchased some pink and white striped cotton jersey that now I want to make a dress out of, lol.
This dress looks very nice on you! yes, I will make this pattern idea, thank you!
Thank you so much (it hides the tummy!) :)
Thanks a million for this video! I've been wondering how to make a dress from a dress! Urban amaaaazing! May God bless you always! Love you loooads! 😊😍❤
Thanks for the video on this subject.
I was want to turn my favourite T pattern into a dress and this was a perfect tutorial.
I love wearing knit dresses for comfort. I hate anything around my waist so prefer dresses to separates.
I'm completely with you!!!
Thank you! Great tutorial!
Glad you enjoyed it, Donna! :)

I have gotten my membership not used ,but am planning to very soon
thank you my friend.💖
Love these tutorials. Could you do a tutorial on pants too, please?
It is on my "to-do" list :)
Огромное спасибо Вам!😍
Светлана, взаимно. Спасибо Вам, что смотрите!
Love it! Thinking about how to hack a different skirt shape onto the top of another dress now!
Sounds fun and creative! Sarah, what's the top shape and what's the style of the skirt?
@@ThoughtfulCreativity it's a really basic scoop neck jersey top with bust darts. It has a straight skirt but I'd like to try putting a flowyer skirt on it for the summer
I love dz ☕
Hello, hello! :)
great video
Glad you enjoyed it! I am always so nervous when new video is published!
You are really awesome...👍I have a doubt when we are stitching the stretch cloths we should use the stretch needle right .Instead of stretch needle can we use the needle when we use for Jean stitching.Y I am asking is in that needle box it’s written as Stretch .
Really nice! I bought some stripe jersey to make this! Hope it turns out wearable! lol
Of course it will - YOU CAN DO IT :) if in doubt - try it on a scrap fabric first, it is always a good course of action.
Waw you teaching well thank you so much I'm sri Lankan
So am I!
Welcome!!
You have matched the stripes in your t-shirt dress. Any quick tips on pattern matching - prints, stripes, plaids? Thank you.
Always get extra yardage for pattern matching and cut pattern from a see through paper so you can see what and where you're cutting.
I have a question. I have a pattern and wanted to make the gathered skirt. Since it is gathered, will it look odd if I am short about four inches in the width. I mean, it is gathered at the waste AND will have a belt sewn on. I’m just thinking it won’t be as full.
How many yard do you use for the dress please?
I apologise if this sounds a stupid question but, say you have a skirt that you like can you add a top to create a dress?
Or am I describing 'hacking' using a top from one pattern and a skirt pattern from another?
I have a question about this. I've actually been thinking about trying to make a dress out of your ideas for making tops. I love a dress that falls about mid-calf but has slits about up to the knee on both sides. My work and home life are pretty active, and I want to be sure that I can navigate stairs and move boxes of educational materials, and well, even mow the lawn, and saw things, etc on the farm in that kind of dress. I kind of have an idea about how to make those slits, but I'm not sure. I think I might use your technique with bias tape. A little worried about the very top of the slits, though, and whether that should be where the bias tape stops/starts. I'm sure you're super-busy, Alisa, and so if any of the lovely people who follow you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you, too! Thank you!!
Abaigeal! hello there! Editing a video right now, so I am at the computer! :) I see what you mean, let me think - my first reaction - bias tape ideas that you have is great and easy, you can either make it exposed or non-visible. 2nd - option - rolled/pin hem and make the skirt pattern that way so that those are 2 pattern pieces that meet where the slit is at, so once you do the rolled hem on the slit on one side, then the other and then sew them together. For the bias tape, yes, you could start it at the slit and end it there too. 3rd option - face the slit, like you would do a facing on a neckline, it will also add more stability to those skirt parts :)
Very useful. Can u make a video about sleeves types and how to attach them to the garment . Also adjusting clothes like a dress top. Sorry I asked alot. Thanks
I am actually working on a series of "sewing how to", but meanwhile - here's one fun sleeve you might want to sew - ua-cam.com/video/_Tngh9wMF5E/v-deo.html
Yes, a different sleeve types video would be great!
Is there a rule to figure out ease for different types of fabric, and skirt style choosen ?
Cynthia, hi! There are some very general guideline, but majority of it will depend on the garment style and the purpose of wear. I have linked all skirt tutorials in the infobox underneath this video (except of A-line skirt, still working on that one) and in each one of them we discuss ease, unless no ease in necessary due to construction and freedom of movement of the skirt around the hip area, like a circle skirt or gathered skirt.
Alisa, I may have missed it, but what measurement did you use at the hem? Was it the waist? Then you subtracted 1" from it?
She used a fourth of her hip measurement, then subtracted one inch.
That's right, thank you!
Very nice and simple. But what about the dress from woven material? You would at least add a zipper?
You can do both ways, zipper is for form fitting dresses, no zipper will be fine if you add enough ease. I have made plenty of dresses back in the day from wovens without zippers.
@@ThoughtfulCreativity thank you and have a great weekend
Nothing to do with sewing but... have you ever considered voice acting? I could just listen to you for hours lol. But seriously think about it.
I love dz ☕
