Thanks for the one-third, two-thirds tip! Totally makes sense.

This is a great introductory project to start sewing! I hope you give it a try.

A pocket inside the seam could use just a solid color fabric, and have the t-shirt fabric which you will have plenty to appear on the front of pocket slit and the couple inches of the rear side of the pocket.

I'll have to go look at how I did the pockets. It has been a while!

So glad I found this video. Like you I love to wear comfy dresses at home. I have 2 knit tope to add skirt to. Your video was a big help.

I'm so happy too! I had another video where I made a child's version. It has a little bit different skirt but it can totally be done for an adult too. I'm getting ready to do another one for myself! Happy sewing!

I'm new to sewing clothes. I thought that when you tear perpendicular to the selvage - that is the cross grain, not the straight of grain. I learned that if you tear parallel to the selvage , that's the straight of grain. Did I learn wrong?

Good question! I have a video all about grainline!! ua-cam.com/video/Mh9PSqxY1dc/v-deo.html For a quick answer: straight of grain can be lengthwise (parallel to the selvedge) or crosswise (perpendicular to the selvedge). Usually a pattern is using lengthwise grain and the selvedge is used to measure and keep it straight. Tearing a woven is the best way to get a true grain and see if there is any stretching or out of grain from being on the bolt. Check out the video when you have time. I think It will make things clearer for your future projects.

I like the dress with the striped top. However, I have never liked those high/low skirts, dresses, and blouses on anyone. I'm old schooled. I like for the hem to be even all the way around. It didn't look right on the dress form. I would have liked to have seen it on you.

I do like an asymmetrical hem but I never liked the one in this video. I have had both dresses in my remake pile for a while. I have been considering making one dress with a fuller skirt and getting more fabric for the other.

The volume of the music towards the end makes it harder to hear the spoken part of this video. Great methods and advice about the amount of fabric to use in the skirts. Perhaps a darker blue solid on the striped dress might have been more appealing? Thanks for sharing your project.

So, after the video was up for a while the music I used was copyrighted. I used the UA-cam editor to change to YT free use music. Unfortunately, I can't alter the volume in YT! I may have to just remove the music altogether. I have changed the music service I use so this doesn't happen in my recent videos. Thank you!

Would have preferred to see what you were making with the camera shot on the project rather than your head. I was disappointed as I didn’t get any learning experience from watching. Your dresses turned out really nice though 😊

Thanks for the feedback. This is an early video. I have learned more about filming and editing since. You might check out a more recent video. I now shoot close ups of many of the details.
