im actually studying business at high school atm and i came to this video to get ideas about a project im working on myself (non school related) and this has been very helpful thank you very much.
Very informative video. I’ll be applying for university for 2019 entry and I’ve got a few ideas. I’m either gonna apply for hospitality management & tourism / tourism & airline management or I might choose business. I like that you said business is good if you just want a degree but don’t know what you want to do because I literally have NO idea lol. I just wanna go to uni.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE hahaha not knowing what you want to do is FOR REAL a common problem hahaha Thank you for your comment lovely! I am also a massive Rihanna fan haha whats your favorite song so far? If I can help in any way let me know!
I just came across this video and it was really useful as I'm starting my Business Management degree at the University of Liverpool in September. Also, I know this is off topic but you're really pretty!
Thank you for your comment! Really appreciated! That is a great idea! Do you have any particular area you would like me to cover? what are the burning questions you have about that topic? also where are you from? :D
Very impressed with the strong spirit of co-operation across Hertfordshire. We need to take advantage of all the goodwill and opportunities offered to our new businesses.
Hi Francesca, I recently received an offer to study at Exeter starting in September and I stumbled across your videos about a week ago. I have to say that I really love your videos and they've been incredibly helpful in making my decision. I'm definitely going to be putting Exeter as one of my choices, probably my first choice if I like what I see at the post offer day next month. So thank you very much! I've subscribed and I'm definitely going to keep watching. Eve XX:))
eve 1223 This comment is honestly SO refreshing to read! First of all CONGRATS for the offer! Well done!! Second of all WOW thanks for subscribing, it means more than you know... And yes absolutely, everyone has a different opinion so ofc take your time, look around and see if its for you! Let me know the dates maybe i ll be there! and bump into you! Much affection xxx
eve 1223 I thought I'd let you know about the fact that I've created 2 new facebook group for freshers: one for any fresher going to an english uni and one for Exeter offer holders! If you have an offer from Exeter and end up not going there, it's still a great place to ask other fresher questions and not feel at all awkward about it as I've created the group to feel safe enough to speak and ask ANYTHING!! ALSO: I will post on the 1st of August 2 PDFs called "the ultimate packing checklist for freshers" and "my top dos and donts at uni" on both groups! So defo check the group out! here is the link for: - the Exeter offer holders group: facebook.com/groups/1271496042948968/ - the general fresher group: facebook.com/groups/234860363687324/?source_id=308572919532060 Let me know if you need anything else xx
I never studied business before! i feel that business is large enough for you to find your path: are you more mathsy? do more finanace modules! are you more creative? go into marketing and do content creation and/or graphic design! worst comes to the worst you can switch course or pick a language module!
My first time watching your video thank you for helpful information I applied for Business management and Travel tourism management in university for 2020 indeed I'm literally stuck cause I have no idea what might choose.I'm presently living in London maybe we can be friends!!
Hi Angel! Both seem lovely ideas! Business and Management is for all of us lost souls who dont know what to do with our lives and Travel Tourism is already a bit more niche. Business will allow you to open more doors and "change your mind" more easily whereas Travel Tourism is good for people who have a passion for that. Be careful though to understand exactly what people mean by travel tourism so you know you are going down the right path for you. Whatever you decide trust me you will be fine. Success is about mindset and how you deal with problems, not about nailing your first shot straight away. Trust me x Big love
Thank u for this vid! I'm planning to start my own boutique in the future so I'm watching your videos as well as other videos in yt to have a background on what its like to study BM :D As early as possible I want to gain knowledge about college life(I'm still in grade12) :)
You took Chinese? That's so cool! Mandarin is definitely going to be one of the most important languages in the future because let's face it, China is rich as fuck!
Thank you for watching this! I hope it answers all of your questions about the business courses in the UK and in Exeter University! Here to help you with your student life!
For instance, I am studying Electrical Engineering (5 year program) at The City College of New York. From my experience I can think of the following differences: 1. There is no dedicated option to study/work. You can do internships during the summer (June-August) break or there are co-ops - basically you get one class credit for working on semester. Or you can do independent research study at lab on campus during summer or regular semester. 2. Also during your final year you have a capstone project. Essentially, what you have studied the past 4 years. You get to put it in practice. For instance, I chose my team and a Professor who will be our mentor for the project and will give also grade us. 3. Grading system. We have GPA (Grade Point Average). It uses a scale of out of 4.0. So for instance if you have anywhere from 3.5 and above you are gold and anything less than 2.8 is usually no good for an engineering student. 4. For my program I have to complete 130 credits over 5 years. Each semester is usually 12 credits (min threshold to be considered a full-time student). So I guess semesters are just like terms and the group of courses you take during a term are just like modules :) 5. Also we don’t have grade/weight distribution. If you mess up your GPA during your first semester. THAT IS BAD! So hard to recover from a bad GPA because the way it is calculated. → Typical engineering curriculum looks like this. www.ccny.cuny.edu/sites/default/files/EE%20Curriculum%20Sp2016.pdf
OMG Faisal Farooq thats insane!! Fair enough sooo different haha its strange that it differs so much! Thank you for taking the time to write this, i appreaciate it 100% !! Electrical engineering sounds tough! I know I couldnt! Congrats for going through that!! Much affection! xx
This was really helpful. Do you know how much course difficulty and modules compare with other universities? I know Exeter is a Russel Group so I imagine that it would be at the more difficult end of the spectrum. Thanks :)
Unfortunately for me to answer this I would need to go to other unis... maybe one day!! In the meantime i think that generally speaking business and management is pretty straight forward! You shouldnt have any problems regardless of where you go! Just make sure you keep up with your work! If Exeter is hard for business then you should be fine ahah! dont mix up business and economics as economics is harder! x
This was a really helpful video! I'm looking to do a Business degree and was just wondering, how much time do you spend outside of lectures studying, doing school work etc. And is there time for a part time job?
Ciao Francesca, apprezzo molto i tuoi video. Li trovo sempre molto utili. Ti ringrazio.
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. Thank you very much for your feedback, very much appreciated!
Hi ! Thank you so much for making this video ! Helps me alot :D I am sorry but I didn't quite understand what you meant by the job you had in the placement year. It motivated you because it was kinda bad or it inspired you to get it in the future? I am planning to study business and as you said, I don't quite know what I want to do later on as a job, but I hope I will find somethng I like since it has such a broad option range. Hope you have a nice day and thanks again :)
Hi Francesca! I am in the process of choosing between a BA and a Bsc in management, and was wondering what the difference between the two was. The BA offer involves the study of Spanish, does it increase the value of the degree for MBAs ? Great video, thank you so much in advance for your response !!
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. yea... not ideal at all! I hope that it hit by nnow..?
Hello! Thank you for your comment! What do you mean by adapting to uni exactly? You mean culturally? or maybe study wise? Culturally wise nothing prepared me to the culture shock and it was quite a roller coaster, more positive than negative! Study wise there is a BIG difference especially if you are not from the UK. Personally I didnt have any prior knowledge I just dived head first into it like most internationals do. But thats why first year also doesnt count (or not that much for some unis): they know its a big change and they want you to have your first year to adapt. I'd say that for your studies, do your best (go to lectures, keep up with your notes, make course friends that can help you when needed...) and when you give in an assignement, ALWAYS ask your professor for feedback so that you know what you did well and badly so you can replicate it next time!! Hope this helps ! Let me know if there is an answer missing!!
@@OneCanFran Thanks this was exactly the answer I was looking for. I'm looking into applying for Coventry University (it's a partner uni with an application agency here in my country and it doesn't seem like the general life fees there are as steep as those in London + it's quite close to the major cities which I like). Do you think I should also send in an application for some of the Russell Group universities? Would you recommend any other universities with good Business and Management courses? There’s a plethora of information online and it’s hard to get around. Thank you so much, your videos have been a lifesaver!
@@toni.k oooh perfect im glad i could help! And yes thank you for giving me context! Dude if you are coming from abroad you will miss good food and the sun BUT its a great adventure, on of my bestt decisions, you will grow and meet so many cool people and open your mind even more!!! much affection x
Thank you Francesca for your useful video. I will like to ask you if there is any option, when building my business and management/marketing and management, like tourism. And in which mention courses are offered. THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIOS!! :D
I took ABM in senior high so I pretty much am already okay with business related courses but seriously I feel like its not something that I would enjoy as much but Ill surely have higher grades and its pretty easy compared to others. Lol its hard to choose a course
Asking for advice: hello everyone in UK education environment. I am a mature international students who have struggled to support myself for education. I do not live in UK and I study online. Fortenateley, I managed to have tow postgraduate certificates from City University and Derby, and I have been accepted at Portsmouth in the Masters programme. However, since I do not have an undergraduate degree, BA or Bsc, I still have a lack in my CV regardless of my experience or high education and I find difficulty to explain to everyone asking me about my first degree how I was involved and accepted directly to postgraduate level. At the same time I do not have an area in the rest of my life or financial capacity to start a new 3 years BAand want to continue to PHD after the MA. Recently, I have been accepted by Edinburgh Napier to take the BA top up in Business management during a period of a year. The top up is equal to the last year of BA,120 credits. Do you find it beneficial to take this BA as a quick alternative for the first degree I have not had yet? I insist on having it to fill the gap in my CV and to stop people's wonders about my educational history. Furthermore, many PHD entry requirements asks for a previous undergraduate degree before the MA.
Hello! Thank you for your message and for reaching out! Great question, never heard a situation like this before. My personal advice is the following: if most PHDs require a BA degree (which you dont have) ask the admissions of the PHD if a final year 120 credits programme that you mention would be considered as an equivalent of a 3 year degree programme. If yes then definitely do that one year 120 cred programme. If no, try and find a PHD programme that says yes because doing a 3 year BA degree when you have 2 masters seems a bit like a waste of time to be honest. Do call, write and contact universities until you find someone who would accept you for a PHD with just that one year 120 credit programme that you mentionned! if you have more questions let me know!
Thanks for sharing Francesca. By now, you are probably gone from Exeter. But, tell me please during the first year was there any "Math intense" compulsory module ? And how the assessments were calculated: 70%-80% depend on the final exam?
This was really helpful thanks. What a levels would you recommend I do? I'm going to do business studies, and was going to do Spanish but the class might not run as there is only 2 people doing it, so I'm a bit stuck😭😂
Hi, Thank you for this video❤. I want to study Business and Management and i have never really had in depth teachings of Business. Do you think I'd find it difficult and is the math really difficult or would I be able to learn it. Thank you💕💕
Sandra Aghedo Hello lovely! Thank you for your comment! I think it's safe to say that it's 100% doable! The business school gives you lodes of time to study and I never learned any Business in high school and was totally fine! However I did do a scientific Baccalaureate therefore maths wise I was fine, but lodes of my non mathy friends managed!! Make sure you don't revise stats at the last minute though!!! xxx much affection hope this helped

Hi everyone. You will never learn real business in school. You will learn text book stuff, examples, and so on. It’s all about standardised study and qualification in school. I want to one day complete a degree. No way because I think I will learn new stuff in school. For the qualification and degree.
i was doing marketing for basketball and heartbeatsports (aka tennis, swim...) and it was super fun! I also had a personal project which increased the website conversion by 127%. Now I have been spotted on LinkedIn and have been asked to work in dublin in the google offices representing accenture. I will deepen my knowledge in digital marketing which is super cool!!
Woah!!!! That's soo coool! from Adidas to Google is a high place to even a higher place. So I wondering, does the major mainly revolve around how to start a business? or managing one, and should I go if I want to start a business?
Hi! Thank you for the video, this is the exact course I have a place for at the exact university that I have the place at! I was just wondering - I'm coming out of a gap year and have no idea whether I actually want to go to university or not still, and I'm running out of time to decide.. Are you an exam or an extended essay kinda person? I'm apprehensive about having to go back to doing exams, so I'm just wondering since you've been there and done it, realistically how difficult are they? You mentioned that you never took business beforehand, but are you naturally good at taking exams?! Thanks!
Hello lovely! Great question! First thing you need to know: im so not academic. I truly believe that if i managed, so can anyone. I dislike exams and hate essays even more. I liked business because it had lots of group work and presentations so i learned from other peoples study methods and then i could apply it to my individual work! loved business for my free time so i could build something on aside. if you dont want to go to uni thats fine but in that case i would recommend having a very clear idea of what you want to do xx
Student Life Vlogs Francesca Thank you so much for the reply! That sounds absolutely perfect for me to be honest. I hope everything has worked out for you! Subscribed!
Oooh!! HOW DID I MISS THIS COMMENT? Welcome to the FAM AND, everything worked out suuuper well: I am currently in adidas taking care of Marketing for basketball rugby swim tennis... and other AND next october I will move to berlin to work for google! I am a non academical but things can work out IF YOU ARE WILLING TO THRIVE
Welcome to the life of 3/4 of our class..!! most of us didnt know, some still dont! This course, at least for me, was an opportunity to explore different things since its quite vague. ALSO since I had so much spare time (only 10 contact hours a week) I made the most of my time by going to career events, talking to people and trying new activities and extra curriculars to get a feel of what I liked the most! NO ONE KNOWS what they want to do later on!
Hi, I graduate high school this year and I am currently considering doing a dual degree in Business Management and Hotel and Tourism Management, however I am quite concerned about my future employment as I have been warned of job shortages and a lack of flexibility in regards to job opportunities. Do you think this is true, and, do you have any advice for me if I do go ahead with the Business Management degree? Thank you so much in advance, and I love your videos! ❤️
Wonder if there is any place/website for students to know which course is good or highly recommended by previous students, like I know in America, there are some websites where you can score your professors and give remarks. Please let me know if Exeter has the similar system, it would be of great help for freshers! Or if there is none, would you please recommend some high quality courses that you've taken or heard before?

im here because I don't know what to do in life and everyone tells me to go for business and management is the safest option to get a job but I honestly don't like marketing, finance, accounting, I like HR a little bit but yea... I just wanna make money and travel lol can you talk about job paths? do you think I can get a job in tourism after graduating this?
Thank you so much for your comment! You will get access to a online space called ELE where your lecturers will post their PDF presentation alongside with other resources such as recorded lectures! There for you dont need to record it! However NOT all modules are recorded so maybe the first week I would record everything and then you will be able to see which modules need further recording and which dont! Hope this was helpful!! xx
Hi, I'm looking to do a business degree at the OU and wanted to know if you think its possible to work part-time as well? Like are there any live lectures you have to be there for? I need a part-time job to pay for my degree and I'm hoping the degree will be flexible enough.. Thank you :)
What do you think about a finance degree at Exeter ? Is it as challenging as an economics degree ? Or is it a bit like business/management. Thanks in advance ❤
Hey, you’re probably over this video already, but still I do have several questions about business management in general and about studying abroad in UK, because this is what I’m gonna apply for in these few months, you would be a lifesaver if you could help me out a bit maybe an email or any sort of way we could contact? Great video btw:)

Hello!I live in Greece and I would love to study abroad. The problem is that I don't really know what to study.I love everything that has to do with businesses but I'm not a ''math person''.Do you consider this as a serious problem?By the way I'm almost sixteen years old.
Dear francesca , ive never studied business before ( for A levels ,GCSE...) only economics and in september i will be starting uni doing a business studies course, im scared that because ive never done it before im going to struggle or fail...... what would you have to say about that?

I'm in sixth form but I'm still haven't decided which courses should I study in Degree...maybe Business (I like to learn more abt management and administration) or Economics (I hav interests in that course but Idk If I can do it coz It's quite hard ppl says)
Hello Francesca am planning to study business management but haven't got any idea about it. Was wondering if you have any advice for my academic interview I will be attending ?
Hello Kimya! Interesting that you will have an academic interview as I never had one! But maybe it's just Exeter! When you do the interview you have to make them feel that you are the perfect fit for the university. It depends whos interviewing you: Oxbridge is more interested in academics and your course rather than your extra curricular activities. Whereas in Exeter its more the opposite, as they want a well rounded person. Once you've figured out what they ideally want (I recommend speaking to someone who got into your university and is doing your course so that they can give you all the tips) you need to think about how you will come across as a confident and perfect candidate. You need to build your knowledge around your course. Business is very wide so I would learn either about entrepreneurship, or digital marketing, or human behaviour for a HR position in a company, or financy stuff if accounting is more your thing. But dont go for everything as it will be overwhelming to read about all of the topics!! Let me know if you need extra help xx
Hi Francesca, can you comment on how the workload for Exeter Politics students compares to Business/Econ/Law? I hold an unconditional offer from Exeter and will be flying out from my home in Los Angeles to tour the uni at the end of this month. Your videos have been a great source of information for me. Thank you!
Charlie Carter OMG congrats!! you will miss the sun haha but yes sure i ll try and do that, maybe host a few interviews with students and see what they say! xx let me know the dates when you'll be here, would love to say hi!
Student Vlogs - Francesca Michaud Thank you! I'll be staying at the St Davids Premier Inn on the night of the 29th and taking a tour of the uni on the 30th, then heading out to meet with family in the late afternoon. It would be great to say hi, so just let me know if we can coordinate that. I love LA but also have a special place in my heart for the UK as my Dad's side is all British. Excited to be in the city and to see the school. 👍
Charlie Carter omg perfect! The 30th i ll be on campus ALL DAY so when you know at what time you will leave for the forum, let me know in a comment of my latest video and i ll see it! I ll be at the entrance of the forum, just outside the library entrance, sitting (the first thing you see when you go in the forum) so hopefully we wont miss each other! Exciting times! :D xxx

Hello, Ive applied to Bsc Business course of exeter. If its possible for you could you please tell me how the course differs from other business courses such as business and management. Also If I would want to change the course from the same department, could you also tell me how that would work. Thanks alot.
Business economics is slightly harder than business but LESS hard than pure economics! Economics has more maths so if you are good at that then you shouldnt have many problems! It's a great degree to have! and if you are not satisfied you can always change! xx
Hi guys! Are you willing to tell me a=what are the differences beetween Studying business ang management and choosing this kind of course on a college? Thank you in advance! ;)
Thanks for replying for me! I only know the french system as I went to a french high school but it was very mathsy at all so i think everyone can manage if they do 1h of work per day minimum
Hi, I've decided I want to get a business and management degree with the open university. I've never really excelled at academia but I want to challenge myself and make a better future for myself. I have a lot of time due to social anxiety issues so that wouldn't be a problem but I'm not the best at math. Are there modules you can choose that have limited mathematical involvement and do the mandatory modules have a lot of maths involved? Great video by the way - I live in Exeter :)
***** Hello! thank you for your comment :D Wowowowow nice one I am happy you are considering Uni although I am a strong believer that you can achieve nearly every kind of life you want thanks to the Internet's secrets so even if you don't end up in Uni just know that its really not a biggie! I am terrible at maths as well which is why Business and Management is my best friend jajaja in 4 years I just had maybe 3 modules which were mathy but if you attack them right at the start then you really can pass and forget them! I feel that being in a sociable environment could also maybe help your social anxiety issues as their is a community here and you are not alone facing these problems! You can learn to grow with your crowd or can learn a lot more about yourself! Thank you for commenting and dont hesitate to ask again for more, I was not very available in July had a bit of a moment myself but I am always answering eventually! xxx
Could I ask you one last question? Your answers have been so helpful to me! Did you have any work experience related to business when you applied for this degree?
You can ask me as many questions as you like! Yes I did but "not really". What does that mean: I did a 3 day "work shadowing" with a start up.. nothing much, but i made it sound as if I did something bigger! so, for instance, i didnt mention it was only 3 days, so they would think its an internship. Also, I really tried to explain the valuable part of my extra curricular activities, if you want i can do a video on where I explain my personal statement! xx
business is quite vague therefore it open many doors. You can be in any corporate business as marketing, finance, management or consultant. You can even start your own business if you want to. Thats why people who have no idea what they want to do with their life chose business... cuz they know they will have more options!
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. Thank you very much for your feedback, very much appreciated! I am actually coming back to this channel before 2022! I will post a video with a fair few answers to these questions! I am indeed in marketing and have so much to say!
Hello! Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately I do not have the power to get you into your university of choice! Have you tried writing a personal statement yet?
@@OneCanFran thanks for replying... But you seem to be getting me all wrong. I want to know the steps and process I need to take as a foreigner to get into a London universities (business administration) is my field of study... Thanks once again
Woops I mistunderstood! What you need to do is go through this portal called UCAS! I will actually do a video about it if you would like? Through UCAS you submit your application for maximum 5 universities and then you can see who gave you an offer and who didnt! If you want I can make a video about it to help you out!
Hi. Thanks a lot for this video. Very informative. I would like to know about the assignments, essays and exams of the academic year..How tough are they, should we do much research, and write a lot? Is it theory based and boring, like a psychology degree or it is more practical, realistic and fun? As I am a science student, and I hate writing lots like literatures... Is it a demanding course throughout the year, or just when the finals are near we got to study hard? As I am already having a professional qualification course and I would like to study a degree in parallel too... Thanks
Hello Ayesha! Thank you for your comment! In my experience, I only worked hard for the exams or deadlines and not during the whole semester. I think that business is great if you have something on aside to work on. However this depends on the uni you go to and the grade you want. If you are happy with just passing, you are good to go. If you want a 2.1 minimum which is the requirement of all the big multinationals for applications in the UK, then you will have to put in more work. I had a 2.1 and the work I have put in was honestly not as much as it shouldve been. If you want a degree that is vague, low key on work but at the same time opens doors, I would go for business! But do not neglect the work! About the essays. I am like you, I did science for my whole life and I absolutely despise essays. Unfortunately its quite wishy washy and its not something you will like either. Its not super easy to get good grades in essays. So what I did is I chose modules that didnt grade you on essay but rather exams, or even better, group work/ presentations. When you chose your modules, it shows you what examination type you will be tested on. If I saw that 80% of the grade was done by essays I stayed the hell away from it! You can work with the system! Hope this helped! xxx
Raven Tousaint Hello beautiful! Thank you for your comment! I feel that choosing the right modules really help you not losing interest! Besides, you have so much spare time that you can take on any initiative and projects that you wish to! So don't worry about it! I am here if you have any other questions! What I strongly advise you to do is join my new facebook groups! There is one for new freshers in general and one for Exeter offer holders! If you have an offer from Exeter and end up not going there, it's still a great place to ask other fresher questions and not feel at all awkward about it as I've created the group to feel safe enough to speak and ask ANYTHING! My love this is a great question... unfortunately I dont know as I ve never tried.. Have you tried looking on the website? If you cant find any info then do not hesitate to contact the university (go in contacts tab in the website to find the emails) and ask them! Someone will help you! xx wish i could be more helpful!
Hi there, great video I have recently received an offer at exeter for business management and was just wondering how your first year looked like? How many hours a week did you have? And how flexible was it initially? Thanks
Jono Shaw Glad you liked it!! My first year was chilled: 12h max a week of lectures and tutorials and i could choose 30 credits. It gets more flexible as you continue your degree, during the years to come! xx
Student Vlogs - Francesca Michaud ok thank you for the help. I am really undecided between Newcastle and Exeter I am still considering both options. Do you have any suggestions or tips in how to decide what course to pick? Thanks
Jono Shaw aah man that's a tough one! I never been to newcastle so i would never tell you "go to exeter" as i would rather give you a well balanced answer! What I advise you to do is the following: - figure out what is the most important aspect of uni for you (is it the uni reputation? is it the social life? is it the surroundings? the city?) then compare your options! - find youtube channels of Exeter and Newcastle University and compare both - find facebook groups and ask people what they think of it, ask them your specific questions - go on open days if you can and get a feel for them!! Hope this helps! xx
Jono Shaw I thought I'd let you know about the fact that I've created a new facebook group for Exeter offer holders! If you have an offer from Exeter and end up not going there, it's still a great place to ask other fresher questions and not feel at all awkward about it as I've created the group to feel safe enough to speak and ask ANYTHING!! ALSO: I will post on the 1st of August 2 PDFs called "the ultimate packing checklist for freshers" and "my top dos and donts at uni"! So defo check the group out! here is the link for: - the Exeter offer holders group: facebook.com/groups/1271496042948968/ Let me know if you need anything else x
I never did business before and turned out fine (i now work for adidas lol) It all depends on your ambition and how well you adapt to uni, but certainly not on your previous knowledge in business, thats a bonus! xxx
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. I had classes every week-day but I didn't always go as they had the classes online as well!
hey, so i have an offer from Exeter university (Exeter campus) for the business and management course, but i also have an offer from the Penryn Campus. I actually already live super close to the Penryn campus, do you think that the Exeter campus uni life is an essential part of the degree or do you think studying it from home is a good idea?
***** Hello!! Thank you very much for your comment! Alright so, before I give my answer I want to tell you that I am extremely bias as I'm a "people person" and believe in the value of meeting new people, however I am going to try and balance my answer: the fact that I barely know anyone in Penryn Campus says a lot (trust me). I would go 100% for the Exeter Campus accomodation (at least for your first year). It is an essential year where you build your contacts not only in your course, but also by being around the campus 24/7. This is 100 times more true with business. You will soon find that the amount of work and hours you need to do for your course is minimal compared to other courses. This is because they do want to have the time to explore extra curricular activities and fulfill your projects. Lodes of people think that going to uni is all about the studying. Although for obvious reasons, studying is important, socialising, learning how to deal with people, learning how to confront people, and the day to day interactions are a huge learning experience in themselves. Another argument (the one I live by) is that you grow by getting out of your comfort zone. By pushing the boundaries of "comfort" you will learn so much about yourself and grow as a person. By staying at home with home comforts you are already missing out not only by the opportunity to build (many) new relationships (many more than if you were home) but you are also decreasing the chances for you to develop as a human, in every sense. Finally, if you are still hesitant and if it turns out that you hate living in the middle of students, then you can always change in second and third year (living at home/saving up), or even during your first year if it's really that bad. Or simply change halls (i know lodes of freshers this year who have changed halls). But I would highly recommend to not miss out on the first term! You should watch my video about when I arrived to the UK from italy here ua-cam.com/video/BwJL4SICleg/v-deo.html as I went through some bad experiences but made it gold! Hope I helped!! xx
Francesca Michaud thank you for the speedy and detailed reply. I have one last question just before I make my decision. What's the uni life like if you don't like clubbing or getting drunk every night for freshers or weekends? Sound like a bore but not my thing haha. Thanks
***** I dont drink myself! Just be chilled about it, dont get annoyed by people who peer pressure (they are only joking) and to the people who are not joking you can stay chill and make a mental note to never hang out with them again! I love going out but there are so many projects, activities and societies you can get involve with! If none of the projects interest you, then create your own and make it happen! There are enough resources to get into whatever! Besides trust me you are not the only one who doesnt like drinking and going out! PLenty of like minded people you just need to explore and find them (as they are harder to find haha) just follow your interests and people will come on your path xxx
***** I thought I'd let you know about the fact that I've created a new facebook group for Exeter offer holders! Thank you so much and wow yes i ve never been up there! i always wanted to try the us student life! xx
This video was super helpful! I never understand uni terminology. 😂 💜 this is the kind of information I wished we learned in school.
This comment made my day
Very informative video.
Student Life Vlogs Francesca Hey i have a question,
So how did u know u wanted to do business? What made you want to do business, if that makes sense😂
This is so helpful! I applied to Exeter and have a conditional offer for international management!
Do you mean BA (hons) business management??
I just came across this video and it was really useful as I'm starting my Business Management degree at the University of Liverpool in September. Also, I know this is off topic but you're really pretty!
How has your experience been so far?
@@suvi135 Really great thanks for asking. Just a shame the year was cut short due to the pandemic but I loved the first semester :)
Vlogging Gamer what topics have you covered in the first semester?
Thank you sooo much for this video! was very helpful! Maybe you could do a video how you got into an English uni as a foreigner.
Eve XX:))

Hi Francesca, whats ur advice for someone who never studied Business but wants to give it a try ?
how to tell if its a good fit ? any tips ?
I'm starting business management this week (freshers starts saturday)
Best of luck!! xx
How many days do u go normally to uni?
Isa khan it depends on your course and which uni you go to. Schedules vary heavily
You took Chinese? That's so cool! Mandarin is definitely going to be one of the most important languages in the future because let's face it, China is rich as fuck!
Thank you for watching this! I hope it answers all of your questions about the business courses in the UK and in Exeter University! Here to help you with your student life!
Nice video :)
Smart comment about a business major candidate and her personal thoughts and conclusions about this career and its abouts.
hmm this is interesting. very different from states. thank you for sharing Francesca and happy new year 😁
Faisal Farooq Happy New Year to you too!! Thank you for your comments, and oh what are the differences? very interesting indeed!!
For instance, I am studying Electrical Engineering (5 year program) at The City College of New York. From my experience I can think of the following differences:
So I guess semesters are just like terms and the group of courses you take during a term are just like modules :)
Hi! This was a brilliant video, thank you very much. I was wondering what subjects you took to get into University?
Ciao Francesca, apprezzo molto i tuoi video. Li trovo sempre molto utili. Ti ringrazio.
This is great. I have a 4 year degree in business. Wish I would have done abroad.
No way thats so cool! What uni?? :D its never too late to travel!! xx
I think the year abroad is really beneficial .

Hi ! Thank you so much for making this video ! Helps me alot :D
I am sorry but I didn't quite understand what you meant by the job you had in the placement year. It motivated you because it was kinda bad or it inspired you to get it in the future?
I am planning to study business and as you said, I don't quite know what I want to do later on as a job, but I hope I will find somethng I like since it has such a broad option range.
Hope you have a nice day and thanks again :)
It was so bad that I realised what my future would be like if I didnt move my butt hahahhaha x
Hi Francesca!
I am in the process of choosing between a BA and a Bsc in management, and was wondering what the difference between the two was. The BA offer involves the study of Spanish, does it increase the value of the degree for MBAs ?
Great video, thank you so much in advance for your response !!
I liked the course at Exeter Uni but Coroona kicked it, ouch! still waiting to get to social buzzz!
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. yea... not ideal at all! I hope that it hit by nnow..?
Heya awesome video. Did you need to have any prior knowledge to adapt a bit better to uni or is everything explained from the very beginning? Thanks!
@@OneCanFran Thank you.
My pleasure!
How you get master degrees without a degree first😉
Thanks for sharing Francesca.

I want to one day complete a degree. No way because I think I will learn new stuff in school. For the qualification and degree.

What do you do now at Adidas? Love the vids!
i was doing marketing for basketball and heartbeatsports (aka tennis, swim...) and it was super fun!

Welcome to the life of 3/4 of our class..!! most of us didnt know, some still dont! This course, at least for me, was an opportunity to explore different things since its quite vague. Samantha Emma interesting.
Wonder if there is any place/website for students to know which course is good or highly recommended by previous students, like I know in America, there are some websites where you can score your professors and give remarks. Please let me know if Exeter has the similar system, it would be of great help for freshers! Or if there is none, would you please recommend some high quality courses that you've taken or heard before?

am i allowed to use recording pen during lectures、or school will record it and email me?
Thank you so much for your comment! You will get access to a online space called ELE where your lecturers will post their PDF presentation alongside with other resources such as recorded lectures! There for you dont need to record it! However NOT all modules are recorded so maybe the first week I would record everything and then you will be able to see which modules need further recording and which dont! Hope this was helpful!! xx

What do you think about a finance degree at Exeter ? Is it as challenging as an economics degree ? Or is it a bit like business/management. Thanks in advance ❤

:D xxx
Charlie Carter I thought I'd let you know about the fact that I've created 2 new facebook group for freshers: one for any fresher going to an english uni and one for Exeter offer holders! So defo check the group out! here is the link for:

Hello, Ive applied to Bsc Business course of exeter. If its possible for you could you please tell me how the course differs from other business courses such as business and management. Also If I would want to change the course from the same department, could you also tell me how that would work.
Thanks alot.
what about Business economics? is the difficulty of this between pure business and pure economics
Thank you in advance! ;)
Do I need mathematics in 12th Fsc for Business Management? Because I have only taken math till 10th standard.
Do ICOM instead of Fsc... ICOM covers accounting, economics, business studies etc that will help in university.
Thank you for commenting and dont hesitate to ask again for more, I was not very available in July had a bit of a moment myself but I am always answering eventually! xxx
Francesca Michaud Ok thanks for the reply, appreciate it! So how did you get on with your degree did you get the 2.1 you hoped for? X
In the university of Exeter, if I study business would it be an undergraduate degree or can I do a graduate degree?
So with your four degree could you have done 6 months abroad and 6 months in industry
Great video! Do you do a dissertation at the end of your degree? Is it compulsory?
Thank you! No for business student (luckily) its not compulsory and I didnt do one. Best. Decision. Ever! x
Oh that's great, thanks! Also did you have an interview when you applied?
No worries! And no I didnt it was just my personal statement, either approved and they gave me an offer or they reject! x
Also, I really tried to explain the valuable part of my extra curricular activities, if you want i can do a video on where I explain my personal statement! xx
Plz give some advice about exams system what kind of questions come in mocks and exams thnx
What do you want to do as an occupation in business after your degree ?
business is quite vague therefore it open many doors. You can be in any corporate business as marketing, finance, management or consultant. You can even start your own business if you want to. Thats why people who have no idea what they want to do with their life chose business... cuz they know they will have more options!
It so many years now, what are you doing now if you don't mind? Are you in marketing?
Hello! I haven't logged in on my youtube channel for over 2 years so apologies for not replying. Thank you very much for your feedback, very much appreciated! I am actually coming back to this channel before 2022! I will post a video with a fair few answers to these questions! I am indeed in marketing and have so much to say!

How about MSc International Business in Exeter? Is it good?
Hello... I live in Brazil and I want to process a study in the UK.. Please can you put me through the requirements and process thanks so much 🙏🏿
@@OneCanFran will be waiting for your video on UCAS to better understand the process 👍
Perfect! Will try an make it soon ish, in December!

I want to look into this , how are you doing with it now ? I don't want to start & lose interest 😕
Raven Tousaint Hello beautiful! Thank you for your comment! I feel that choosing the right modules really help you not losing interest! Besides, you have so much spare time that you can take on any initiative and projects that you wish to! So don't worry about it! I am here if you have any other questions!

What type of jobs or routes can you take with this degree like can i go into marketing or economics with a business degree
Hello! Business is super vague hence why I chose it. From it you can go in any direction under the umbrella of a business: finance, marketing (i am in marketing), hr, entrepreneurship.. HOWEVER it all depends on YOUR proactiveness so go out and search for opportunities of life will decide for you!

What I advise you to do is the following:
- figure out what is the most important aspect of uni for you (is it the uni reputation? is it the social life? is it the surroundings? the city?) then compare your options!
- find youtube channels of Exeter and Newcastle University and compare both
- find facebook groups and ask people what they think of it, ask them your specific questions
- go on open days if you can and get a feel for them!!
Hope this helps! xx
thank you very much for your advice. I will take it all under consideration :)

Do you normally speak French ?
weirdly yes. but im not french
Is business difficult for someone who has never done it before?
I never did business before and turned out fine (i now work for adidas lol) It all depends on your ambition and how well you adapt to uni, but certainly not on your previous knowledge in business, thats a bonus! xxx
how i can get MBA online ?

"What to expect from a Business course at University?" That's not a question, that's a statement. Clearly you can't expect proper language skills.
omg so true, next time I will make sure to stick to my first 2 languages rather than writing in my third! so sorry for offending you!
@@OneCanFran You're right. We shouldn't assume people are using their mother tongue.
hey,
so i have an offer from Exeter university (Exeter campus) for the business and management course, but i also have an offer from the Penryn Campus. I actually already live super close to the Penryn campus, do you think that the Exeter campus uni life is an essential part of the degree or do you think studying it from home is a good idea?
***** Hello!! Thank you very much for your comment! Alright so, before I give my answer I want to tell you that I am extremely bias as I'm a "people person" and believe in the value of meeting new people, however I am going to try and balance my answer:
the fact that I barely know anyone in Penryn Campus says a lot (trust me).
PLenty of like minded people you just need to explore and find them (as they are harder to find haha) just follow your interests and people will come on your path xxx
ps but whatever you do dont stay in your room!! lol
