Hey Vinny! That root beer-colored paint is beautiful, I dont think I would even take sandpaper to it. Both are beautiful builds. Excellent work so far.

The early funny cars were altered wheel base, where they moved the rear wheels forward which gave them a funny appearance. All race cars remove as much weight as possible less = better time. What the models are showing you is the progression of the safety. The models are looking good.

Yep your right Vinny and they would run a small water tank (tube) that runs directly ported into the front of the heads and the pulley system was harmonic balance to water pump and they ran em like that. Cool update Vinny 🤙🏻

A little info regarding the battery and starter on a Funny Car of that vintage. In '65 ( and for quite a few years following), a car like that WOULD have a starter mounted to the block AND a battery to operate it. Auxiliary (blower drive) starters started to become commonplace around 1972-73. The battery would almost always be mounted in the right rear of the trunk to aid weight transfer.

That root beer is a great color. The body on the 64 has been lengthened in the rear which is typical for a funny car ( has something to do with aerodynamics). The car is bare for weight reasons, the brakes might be electric or its just a cheap model. I'd swear thats a 65 ..... the 64 had a rounder grille assembly I think. Anyway, you're doing a great job on the build Vinny.

You're right the body is supposed to fit that way there is no inner fenders and I do believe there's a hinge to hinge the body so it's a flopper

hi Jeff... i love the root beer color looks better in person... being a mechanic for 50+ years i always try to figure "why it's done that way?" i had no clue as to how a magneto works or why isn't there a battery... i found those answer on TV ... one of the apps i watch is Prime & they have a series on drag racing... while watching one of these shows i aways wondered what that guy was doing with that machine hooked up to the front of the engine... come to find out it is a portable starter... so while the engine is being started it also is driving the self contained magneto which produces the electricy for the spark plugs ....any how.. thx 4 watching & your comment.. vinny
@@dacuzzz6951 Hi Vinny, I have always been very mechanical. When I was just a little guy I can remember handing my dad tools as he was working under a car. I rebuilt my first motorcycle engine by myself when I was about 12 years old. I've built lots of engines, painted a few cars and generally was always working on something. Magnetos have been used a lot over the years as a way to produce spark without having a battery present. I never made a living turning wrenches, but I was a tool salesman for Snap On for a while. Funny cars are very light weight. In some ways they resemble a shortened rail with an auto body on it. I am thinking they had drag chutes for slowing.

The AWB cars were extremely lighten up, if it didn't need it, it was removed,
Basically the only thing they used was just the outer car shell on a tube chassis

Those altered cars when they first came out used the same chassis in a number of car's. The 65 Ford mustang altered uses that same chassis. The real car's used a stock chassis in the early year's with the floors and frame cut and moved forward. Steve Magnante has a few video's talking about these drag car's on his UA-cam channel. Plus the model kit's. If you get a Moebius altered 65 plymouth satellite that chassis is what this car's chassis should look like. A stock chassis with everything moved forward and a filler panel at the rear.

pss if that paint came out this nice i would jus use Meguiars cleaner wax paste 4 heavy ie glass or liquid before reg wax🤐
