    This knife makes the loudest thwack out of a lot of knives when flicked hard . So sweet . I 2 k papered the sharp edges under the lockbar . The fingers have to go in there pretty deep to chop a tip .jus sayin if someone was wondering . I seen a dude selling cF scales for $75

    Two years later and I stumble on this vid because I just ordered an AD15. Mine is direct from China for $65 so??? It has carbon fiber scales, for $65! And it is M390 for $65. It'll be D2 or summat and fit and finish may not be quite as good but $65. Be interesting to do a side by side comparison and see if the CF scales would swap to an OG AD15 with that horrible G10. The Chinese have gotten quite good at some stuff.

      I used Ferric Chloride to etch the blade.
      I've tried etching hardware screws in the past and they don't turn out that well.
      I haven't experienced rust after etching before but I can't say it won't happen, just depends on how well you take care of your blade🙂

    Just wondering what size and thickness fat Carbon do you purchase. I just ordered some yesterday and got the 4mm. I’m new to making scales but man you do amazing work. I’m going to start off with some easier ones like the Pilar or Spyderco dice. Any advice you can give would be appreciated 👊

    • @KnathansKnives
      @KnathansKnives  3 роки тому +1

      I usually buy the 4mm(just over 1/8 inch)thickness for most knives, but for most Cold Steel's I'll get the 5mm(just over 3/16 inch). Thank you for watching and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask🙂

      @@KnathansKnives if I have any questions I’ll hit you up on Instagram. Just wondering what drill bit size you use the most. I seen a few other ways of making scales but I just love the method you are using by using the pivot screw to drill the other holes. Are you using the body screws of the knife you are working on to secure the handle to the material or are those screws one you made for the projects. What keeping the screws from falling out. Just weird questions that I’ll probably figure out on my own once I start.

    • @KnathansKnives
      @KnathansKnives  3 роки тому

      Sounds good!
      I usually use the hardware that comes off the original knife but if I run the risk of damaging the original hardware I use the hardware I bought from Amazon(I'll leave a link below of which one's I use).
      As for holding the OG scales in place I drill a hole slightly smaller than the size on the scales and that allows me to tighten down the hardware locking it in place. Then I drill the rest of the holes(which gives you the correct location of the other screws.🙂
      I'll also leave a link for the drill bits I use.
