Wow, as a graphic design student overseas, your videos have helped me so much in the start of my design journey !! I love your channel, thank you so so much for all your tips and advice :D
Great video :) I think it's a bit harder for a foreigner (like me) to apply to job in different countries but this is a great video on how the process can go
Your tour the company/ school project review/ just show up is as close to the “beat feet” method that was a must 15 years ago. It’s humans that do the hiring and creating a personal connection helps then see you as a human.
Look at designs and work that inspires you. Taking elements to build up from, your style will start to come through and overtake, but helps to start with a good base. Just design and work hard, it’ll come. Good luck!
This video is so underrated! I would have never thought to do these things! Do you think I should still go for an internship this summer even though I've only been in school for a year?
Definitely! Graphic design studios are always looking for ambitious people and right now there is a lot of demand for employees so your chances of landing an internship are a lot better. Also, by going through the motions of getting prepared to contact/interview companies early on you will be way ahead of your classmates who aren’t even thinking about internships.

I’ve met someone who landed a job at a corporate company by addressing user issues with their website and redesigning it as part of the application.
