The one that resonated the most for me was the "make your own favorite meals". My biggest expense is eating out, I've tried a few times and it's not bad but I don't like cleaning up after. It does save money, though. I'll give it a try and make an effort to clean up after. In the end, being responsible with your money is about being organized and diligent, so it can only be helpful for me in every area. Thanks a lot for the advice!

@@KC-dr3cg Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I was talking more about pleasure food actually. Today I actually made a pizza with the help of a friend. Wasn't very healthy though hahahah. The ingredients cost more or less the same as a takeout one but I can make more quantity. It's been a while since I last made one and I made a few mistakes so it wasn't great but it was fun. The next ones probably won't be as good as the ones from Costco but they'll be good enough. Have a great day!

Alright phyllis, speaking in general terms, investing requires a good amount of knowledge. That's why it's essential to have a solid support system like a financial counselor, especially when picking out assets. I've been working with Regina Louise Collaro, who is an investment advisor at a registered wealth management company. I can't recommend her enough; my financial journey has been fantastic thanks to her. She's quite well-known for her services, and she helped me achieve financial stability through investments. Now, I benefit from her passive income strategies every month. So, I'd strongly suggest finding a reliable investment advisor for yourself

The biggest way we save money on groceries is eating food that's in season and now letting anything in the fridge go bad. Even if we buy the "expensive" foods, if we only buy as much as we will eat it saves a ton of money.

Great tips and thanks for the video. I would like to add a couple of my own:
    1. Before anything else GET OUT OF DEBT. No credit card debt whatsoever. Then student loans. Then mortgage.
    2. Find out what represents your biggest expense. It is usually housing (rent or mortgage). In my case it was mortgage so what I did was to set aside the extra amounts I can pay yearly without interest. I placed these amounts into a deposit account so they would give me interest every year AND allow me to get rid of a big chunk of my mortgage. If you are renting, consider moving to a smaller place. Saving in food is healthy and wise, but it is more effective to save on the things that drain most of your paycheck.
    3. Do you really need two cars? Do you really need THAT truck? Do you need a car at all? I have sold my SUV and I currently use my bike and a bicycle because my location has great public services. I no longer pay insurances, oil changes, etc...and when I do need a car I will most likely buy a second hand reliable car suitable for my needs (read: Small).
    4. Reuse and repair. I bought a (second hand) sewing machine and I fix my clothes until they break. It is a fun activity. I learn to repair so I learn things and save money.
    5. Buy in bulk and out of seasons, especially what you know you are going to need. I buy swimming clothes when the summer ends. I buy xmas presents thru the year, especially if I see something in special offer. I check the "best before" date on milk, coffee, etc...and I buy them in bulk when they are on special offer or when I need them (which also saves me trips at odd times because I always have a stash). And I buy plane tickets waaaay ahead of time because, contrary to popular belief, it is cheaper than trying to catch the "only one seat left" offer.
By the way, I have a six-figure salary, own several properties, and have a healthy stock portfolio. I am by no means a cheapskate (I love to travel around the world and enjoy my life) but I put money where it´s worth it.

@Roza Huber Yes, true. It's important to be mindful that sometimes having to work more hours to get by does mean not being able to do some things that would be nice to do but take up time. I guess the aim is to optimise time management as best as possible to get the best of both worlds: hustle and still have time to do what is important or meaningful to you in achieving what you want. It might take more intentionality than it would someone else. Just have to do what needs to be done.

My 20 year old car with 156K needs a major repair that will cost me at least $3,400 so I'm going to start taking the bus to work or even walking in order to prolong the use of my car. As far as entertainment, books are free at the library, and so it UA-cam. I dropped by gym membership right before the pandemic shutdown because I knew gyms would be closing, but have not signed up again because I can do most of the exercises at home. One big thing that helped me not waste food, particularly fresh produce used with meal prep is to buy all the ingredients for a certain meal that day with the intention of cooking it that night. I used to buy a few meal prep options for the week but would end up not getting to it because I didn’t prioritize it. Since I’ve adopted this habit, fresh produce does not get wasted. I also always shop with a grocery list. I make it a habit to look around my home before a grocery run and make sure I’m actually needing certain items rather than guessing while I’m at the store. Last note is always check the expiration date especially on dairy products to make sure you aren’t picking up a batch that’s going to expire in a couple of days

    Ronald....another GREAT video!!
At the 5:11 mark on home maintenance and how someone who rents need not worry about this, I disagree. Many a landlord will NOT raise rent, if the people renting a place take care of the place. Since NOT needing to do repairs on things that if taken care of, would not have broken, means the landlord saves money.
Energy savings. Keeping lightbulbs, computer/tv screens CLEAN makes them last longer and with light bulbs they put out more light, which means we need fewer lights on. We have no tv and its has saved us at least $75 a month in cable expenses. Or $900 a year!
We happen to be plant based and our monthly food bill went down 60% because we buy fruits, vegetables that are in season, and cut out soda and all junk food. We also invested in a food dehydrator and dehydrate fruit and vegetables for later use.
To save money entertaining we and friends love pot luck dinners where everyone brings something for dinner. Not only does everyone get something new to eat but no one is stuck making the full meal.
When our son was young we also would child-sit for FREE so friends could have a date night once week or once every two weeks.

Because groceries are expensive where I live. we also eat leftovers all the time plus most times we are tired so we'll just heat up leftovers instead of cooking something new. If I buy the ingredients for these things I end up spending more than $10 and it takes me hours to prepare it. I never eat out, that saves ton of money.

I understand your point. Ingredients can be expensive, even if one purchases generic brands. Some recipes have tons of ingredients and substitutions still require "another ingredient."
If a recipe has an ingredient that I barely use, more than likely I won't make it. For example, dry mustard. I barely use it, so it will be sitting in the cabinet, and going to waste.

That would serve as a good goal. If you can combine your 'side-hustle' with the tips you shared, $27.40 doesn't seem like a large goal to shoot for. Food cost my family the most hands down. We ate out to often or items would expire before being used . We would also have multiples of the same items due to not know what we had before we hit the store. Now eating in , making lists , keeping inventory, buying what's on sale changed everything .

the pandemic taught me that ordering my groceries actually saved me a bunch of money (and anxiety)! i wasn't tempted as much by the fancy product displays and only bought what I knew I needed. Hopefully I can get enough self control one day to do this in an actual grocery store 😂these are some great tips, thank you!

All good points, and I would include another - protecting your health.
COVID is an example. Folks who had pre-existing conditions - including obesity - had a higher chance of COVID hitting them harder. A real quick way to get into debt is for medical/health issues to arise. In addition, many folks leave the workforce earlier than they wanted because of health issues. Healthy folks can work longer before retiring. There are many ways being physically/mentally healthy can improve your financial health.

Was a mechanic and now a plumber/pipe fitter. Learned a lot of skills over my life that I can use to save myself money. I get made fun of cuz drivin older trucks with no payments but guess who isn't payin a bank $500+ a month? Keep my life simple. Drink a beer in my garage n watch thunderstorms roll in or maybe a road trip. Spare cash has me spendin lil more in beer n smokes. Those gotta get cut back soon. Smokes maybe eliminated since they up to $8 a pack.
I do let my friends use my credit to help us both. Helps my credit n helps them get a major purchase. Only 2 people though. Only 2 I can trust cuz we all 3 kinda depend on each other for different skillsets.

    In addition:
    - If it's possible in your area/house drink tap water instead of buying water or soft drinks. Reuse your teabag after drying it (or use it again directly after the first cup of tea).
    - Try to learn more about wild herbs, berries etc. Maybe ask for help but if you feel sure about some eatable plants go out and collect them. I will collect some wild blackberries tomorrow. :) But please - be absolute sure about that plants! Some poisonous plants can be mistaken as eatable. Don't collect them near a street because of pollution.
    - Write down your income and write down everything you spend money on for at least one month. Maybe you will find a bad habit you can kick out.
    - Sharing - You do not need a drill every day, right? Instead of buying one you can ask your neighbours, friends or family if someone got a drill and would borrow it. Maybe you got something other people need sometimes? Try to build up a sharing community.

How I like to pack my lunch... STREAMLINE the entire activity by getting Tupper ware (it's cheap and it'll save you even more money), make enough food For The Entire Work Week (for me, 5 days). It doesn't all have to be The Same Meal, either. It can be oatmeal w/blueberries, noodles w/cheese and pasta on top, salads, cereal w/bananas on top, rice w/chicken (or fish), etc.
Each of these meals can be homecooked, as well. Just spend an hour, or two, once a week making this... and part of the time you spend will include allowing you to make a meal for yourself now, immediately. [little time-saving mechanism here] Once you get better at cooking, and you will, your homemade meals will taste MILES BETTER than anything you get eating out.

I know what you mean. Since Covid I haven't done alot of things. Eaten at Fast Food Restaurants, Going to Cafes, and Buying DVD's or even buying things online from Amazon unless it's Free. I budget myself and I go through My Finances like a Fine Toothed Comb. I never withdraw Money from a Bank Machine not affiliated with my Bank because they will chop me with Bank Service Charges. I brown bag it Monday to Thursday then on Friday I treat myself. It costs $20.00 per day to go into The Food Court. I know what is due since I keep track of it using My Planner which helps alot. Never go shopping for Food if you are Hungry. You will waste alot. IE Chips and the like. My only weakness is The Dollar Type Stores. I get alot of Condiments from there. IE Olives, Salad Dressing & The Like.
