@@ivanvargas2425 great question...ive debated, the big theory is streaming on YT hurts the algorithm for your regular videos...i will experiment with both though!
Yassss let’s gooo!!
@@RickRickiGames ayeeeeee!!
Do you not garage sale? You should try it chase after the right price asks if they have video games.
Your the only Retro channel I like 👍
I like to imagine that in the year 3000 someone will open up graded games to get working copies.
I could see the future being a bit more advanced then that. Maybe they could place the sealed box on some kind of sensor and just read the pathways of those primitive chips to obtain the data, never letting that 20'th century air escape in the process. Then, let their AI upgrade that data to the holo room for interaction.
@@jupreindeer Yeah ...that box will be dust in 900 years. Paper isn't a durable material over centuries, it's organic material that's been decaying since it died, and a plastic wrapper isn't going to help.
Time capsule!
But they deteriorate on their own especially disc based media.most CDs will be completely unreadable by 2100
That's not true....but eventually yes, they will no longer work.
I have worked with Fred Savage several times over the last 10 years since he is a sitcom director now. The Wizard is a classic movie. Cool guy and he never seems to age.
He’s a huge nintendo collector as well! I’ve seen his collection and it’s pretty impressive
MrYorkie👍👍 great seeing you here!
id love to meet him one day!
@@danielharris1214 oh dang...i had no idea, thats so rad!
Awsome I remember jenny lewis was in the movie also but she was not to much into Mario at that time I was a huge fan of hers she sings now fred was so awsome in the movie.
This is currently my favorite channel on UA-cam. Born in ‘84, so these videos just take me back. Awesome content brother, thank you for doing what you do.
Omg. I was obsessed with The Paper Brigade! Any time I mention it, no one ever knows what I’m talking about lol. Thanks for that flashback! 👏🏽☺️
Can't wait to find out how the game gets graded and what you end up selling it for. All the best mate, good luck!
thank you my friend...heres to hoping for the best!
No wayyy!!!!! I remember watching Address Unknown in the 4th grade classroom for the history portion of the day. I completely forgot what it was called. Lol I've always wanted to rewatch that.
Shelf looks good man! Thanks for the shout! Knew you love the 🐢
heck ya man! sorry it took so long 😑
Living my childhood all over again. I would literally have the same themed shelves. Back To The Future IS the best movie ever.
When Flipping through the corner of the animorphs book, there is a little silhouette of the character morphing into the animal. It's amazing great nostalgia
i totally forgot about that!!!
Honestly these type of videos are my favorites from you. Just chill, laid back, discussions on everything I'm interested in.
Back to the future is an incredible movie.
The best film trilogy ever IMO.
i swear retro u have the best collection game room besides no arcades i’ve ever seen man u bring back video rent stores with ur set up i beyond love it wow man
thank you for the kind words...i love hanging in the game room!
Hey dude, I too, also have a sealed copy of SMB3 I bought from KB Toys many years ago (around 1994) for $10. I guess the time is now to let it go and have it graded and auctioned off. Thanks for the most awesome video!!!
now is the time Mark! Game market is wild
@@retrorick I know it’s going nuts.
Love those theme shelves you put up! Gives me so many ideas of what I want to do in my office/movie room.
Excited to see what happens with the grading on the Super Mario 3! Thanks for sharing Rick!
Thanks my friend! Here’s to hoping for the best!

I grew up on goosebumps for sure. Keep any eye out too, I just picked up I Live in Your Basement the other day for $.52 and sold it for $48 within 24 hours.
Just getting into flipping/collecting after binging the entire $10 game collection series over the weekend. Thanks for all the great content!
Your ability to open game cases, with one hand, always impresses me.
Pro level collector
Lol seriously right? Am I wrong in thinking that the shrinkwrapped new version is so rare bc it usually came with the system?
I think it's perfectly fine to get games graded, especially old games seeing as they'll only get harder and harder to find in nice sealed condition, it's basically just preserving history like paintings, vases, mummies, etc.
Your absolutely correct. At this point in time, video games are becoming a historical relic. Just take a look at the first issue of Superman comic. Or anything from the Ming Dynasty is worth a fortune, yes even that simple bowl.
I find it nuts ppl are paying so much money for games they're never going to play. But hey if ppl got the money to spend on these games as long it makes them happy and it's not illegal i say go for it. You only live once!
Yeah it’s pretty crazy I’m selling some of my old consoles and games as I never play them and if I played them today they would seem so basic with the good at the time but not now graphics I’m all about the current more feature packed systems and games
Awesome video, was lots of fun. The shelf's look really nice, your TMNT collection is really cool
“Super Mario Bros. 3” is worth a hundred grand?! Holy crap! That’s outrageous!
ha potentially provided it gets a good grade ...im not holding my breath though!
It isn't. WATA is a scam. If you really think about it, even grading by a more reputable grading company is just them telling you how nice the cellophane looks.
Just noticed that the SMB3 example Rick uses in the video is a "left bros" SMB 3. That variant is more valuable, but we're talking about $700 brand new, sealed left bros vs. $400 brand new, sealed SMB3.
He doesnt HAVE the left bros one@@PowerSynopsis
dude amazing video! and great flip for that Mario 3 sealed!! did the same with a Mega Man X copies... bought two for 350$ ten years ago kept them sealed in my collection ever since!
Wow, your Good Will is way more classy looking than the thrift stores in my area!
ha its a pretty good one!
Watching you and your collection literally sparks so many memories for me, thank you RR!
My goodness i can't wait to hear the value. Id never heard of this before until I read about it on a national newspaper ( and im in the uk ) whilst its great, clearly some people have farrrrrrrrr too much money when I see anything go for crazy money I always think to myself, Jesus, if I had that much money I could help thousands of animals :(
It's all a scam man. The sales all seem to be internal sales designed to show big headlines to create a speculative bubble that the Auction House and Grading company itself can profit from.

I remember those. Back when I schooled in Verde elementary School, they had those. It was an activity in kindergarten where we get a book with the cassette that goes with it pop it in the cassette player and listen along as we flip the pages of the book.
I love the shelves in the game room, it looks so good!
I agree with checking the blank cases. In fact, I have gotten into the habit of checking every game case.
I have found a couple Wii Sports anda copy of Mario Kart Wii that way. Mario Kart Wii was in a Madden PS2 case of all things. 😂
heck ya...always check those blank cases for GAMES!!!
Animorphs was one of my favorite book series growing up in the 90s early 2000s
Best of luck! that's a clean looking copy too. My arm-chair finance advice: pay off the mortgage!
It’s even more wild to watch this in 2024 knowing why they sold for so much!
Nice! Wish I had stuff like that in my collection, but my collection is only 200 games big, so not as big as others. Working on that constantly!
thats a great collection...200 games is a ton!
I really liked that Slimer from last video, seeing the made me feel like I have definitely seen and played with it before.
He 1st back to the future was my 1st movie I saw in theaters
oh wow...that pretty cool!
Yeah love the bttf films I even watched the first one again at my local cinema when it was the anniversary when the film was first released it was an amazing experience!
German here. I loved the John Sinclair books back in the day! :) No idea you had them in the US though - if anyone could shed some light on this, that'd be great.
Nice copy of Mario 3 I wish my box was in that condition I still need the left bros variant
ive actually never seen the left bros variant of super mario 3...maybe one day!
@@retrorick Yeah I would be fine with a loose copy of it hopefully you get a good grade
@@rickeyrankin8457 we can only hope!
Loved Shivers, Strange Matter, Goosebumps, and the Adventures of the Bailey School Kids books growing up! Still have most of them packed away!
great watch loving the turtles shelf and back to the future one my best movies of childhood that and e.t and the monster squad . hope u manage to get an amazing offer on game i personally could not sell it xx keep well see u next video
heres to hoping for the best with getting a good offer!
Kelly Murray What is going on in that pfp????
I had one of those “talking” Teddy Ruxpin dolls (the one where you stuck the cassette in his back and he’d read you a story). I used to scare the crap out of my younger brother with it. My favorite thing to do would be to sneak into his room at night, slide it under his bed, then sneak out as the doll started talking. Needless to say, I was a good big brother.
I would love to see a walk through of getting a game graded. I have a few that I would like to do, but not completely sure how to
its honestly a pretty new market for me too...excited to see what we get back!
Just started watching you. Started with Phoenix Resale, have been watching him for probably since he started; an he had you in a video an it was awesome. I love the retro stuff. Games, movies, action figures, clothes, etc. I cant wait to keep watching your content. Even though i was born in 98', you have broughy back alot of memories from my childhood. We were very poor growing up, so i got hameydowns an yard sale gold for birthsdays an Christmas. An im kinda grateful for it. Got to gain a love for all these things.
Much love man. Keep up with the content. Look forward for more to come !!!
Hey man I love your content so much keep on with the videos your making!
so glad you are enjoying the videos...thats encouraging to hear!!
Rick, love the content. One of my favorite channels. Being I am at the age of 51, this all takes me back. I catch myself watching everyday. Idea for you, maybe get you some picture frames and put in the magazines and mount them above each shelf. This will keep the magazines from falling over on the corners and will give you the room of the new shelves to display in front of the magazines. Keep up the FIRE!!!!
Bro. Id drive that game wherever it has to go to get graded lol. I wouldn't trust any shipping company
I so expected the door to catch and you be happy with no door handle breaking any priceless classic :)
If it’s time to do it .. do it .. I mean it’s something you can put to your son’s collage fund .. in Australia we haven’t hit that level but man I wish I picked up some sealed games
yeah its wild here right now! Thanks for watching Matt!
my favorite books grown up is Goosebumps, Tree House Story’s, Little house on the Prairie, Box Car Children, Captain Underpants
SELL SELL SEEEEEEELL!
also love you my guy
Right!
maybe ill sell and buy a house in South Carolina 😛
Hey bro, gotta say just found you channel, and being the age I am this is everything my childhood was made of. Absolutely love it. And can I say your RETRO sega inspired intro gives me goose bumps. Reminds me of turning on sonic on my sega mega drive (genesis) as a kid 👍🙌🔥🔥🔥
5x5 area! Sound like my game room! 🤣
the master game room builder is here!
i just sent my first video game to WATA to be graded. I picked up a sealed copy of Resident Evil 2 for the Sega Dreamcast. I cant wait to get it back~!
Hey man, could you link those acrylic shelves? Love em.
Sealed and graded games are just the evolution of collecting . When you start collection you begin with the easy stuff and trade up. After you have collected pretty much everything in a specific category then you start looking for a rarer version . It happens with all communities.
Nows the time to sell and I hope you certify and insure that sucker before you send it in. I'd get my hands on a koffin from rose colored gaming. I hope you can take advantage before the hype dies down because it's only a matter of time before people catch on that these sealed games aren't worth what people are paying for them
i agree...something is afoot in the graded game market!
Oh snap, I remember "Address Unknown." I don't think I ever saw it, but I remember it being shown on all the HBO/Cinemax channels a bunch in the mid '90s. One of those random family movies they'd constantly have on, like "Heaven Sent" or "Johnny Mysto."
i want to check it out! i love weird obscure movies
Really, this is first time I’ve ever heard about but I am in uk so maybe it’s more of an American thing, also that Jeff Daniels film super sucker which retro found in one of his vids looks weird but I kind of also want to watch it
Yeah it’s worth that much! Lol. one of the most produced games ever made…
Love Back to the Future, great movie, it’s Ghostbusters for me (1984)
Hey Retro here’s the deal I ❤️❤️❤️❤️Mario and the whole crew Luigi etc but super rich can pay a crap load of money for anything they want and not care Something is not right here it’s insane keep us posted✌️👋
you are right..something is afoot! Will do Stephanie!
👍🦶✌️
Good luck man I hope that game goes for alot can’t wait to see how it turns out
Some money laundering going on when a game goes that high
something strange for sure...quite the jump from previous sales
yeah just like modern art auctions
And content creator
This has effectively change retro game collection in the absolute worst way. Its not even slightly worth it anymore. All passion has been sucked dry and replaced with value and grades. This video is proof.
I'm done collecting and I'm subbing to this channel. Ricky is a filthy trader who I've lost all respect for as a collector
Great updates to the gameroom! The sealed market is out of control right now. Hopefully it works out for you Rick 👊
thanks Jason! Time for a game room tour soon!
Yea the last games that sold for high prices at Heritage was a Scam cause they were sold by people who work for the company at the high spots in the company .. Go watch Pat and Ians podcast they explain it better than I can..
That’s what I was going to say… There’s no way a game with that many copies sold (Mario 64) is worth that much money. I’m not a huge fan of grading in general, but I’m glad there are a couple newcomers, including CGC, that will hopefully make it less volatile. That podcast episode also mentioned there are still people finding and sending in sealed boxes (as in the boxes from a warehouse with multiple copies). It reeks of a huge scam.
I sold a copy of pokemon red for 12,500 us so they aren't all fraudulent
ill check it out...thanks for the heads up
Nice vhs find! I just found 2 copies of that Duck Tales and one was sealed!
The sealed/graded market is cancerous to the hobby…
I just wanna buy a copy of Metroid Prime for less than 20$
Yep. It happened with comics + baseball cards and what it does is start pricing the casual fans out of the hobby faster, effectively killing it quicker.
@@williambourque926 But the Comic and Card markets are pretty booming now.
How so? I don't see how people doing what they want with their own games prevents you from playing or collecting the way you like to.
@@bkirk0510 It does affect market pricing, meaning you gotta be quick and get the games you want faster before they rise up BECAUSE of this "people doing what they want with their own games" it's manipulatin the market, so.....
Grading has been the holy grail in most novelties and niches like toys, comics, cards and videogames and it's always been rather a roller coastet ride. Why not profit from it? From a gaming perspective I have always said that I would by two copies for the collection so to keep one and play with the other. Xd. But due to moves some vintage games were open and due to meddling cousins over the years a majority of my sealed collection broke. I wish i graded that way they would be protected. Now rebuilding it has been rather hard.
Books I read were Dungeon and Dragons and Forgotten Realms. I also enjoyed the 'Choose your Own' stories and the Redwall Chronicles.
That sealed Mario 64 for over one million was insane!
i know...like literally insane
A scam*
Love the new display on the perspex shelves. Might have to copy that but with different stuff of course.
thank you , i love how they turned out!
My boy becoming a millionaire!
that would be DOOOOPE! Thanks for tuning in!
14:20 - I believe the two grey discs are "preview" discs intended for journalists and film reviewers. They're not worth much but they're kinda neat (Well actually it says you get a big fine for selling them, so that's why they get donated). I got a Spider-Man 2002 one once. I really like the minimalist case and disc, it's region free, and it also starts straight into the movie instead of having any ads or piracy warnings etc. kind of makes me want to start a collection of them since I'm assuming the studio would have used the same case layout for all their preview discs.
ah thanks for the heads up!
Hey !!
whats up my friend! Have a good weekend?
I like that you specified the light switch, instead of just saying the Switch. Cause on a gaming/retro channel people might confuse the two :P
Get the game graded, but keep it… I know the money is fantastic, but to have that is just amazing.
Heads up!! I tried searching for your twitch and it didn’t work, you gotta type in twitch.tv/retroricktv or it won’t come up!!
thanks for the heads up my friend!
@@retrorick of course!!! Glad I could help 😊😊 can’t wait to see you on twitch!!!
Game grading is a double edged sword as although it might up the top end of the market it also creates excitement for those of us just grinding and discovering :) The power will always remain in the hands of the collectors, and as long as the grading remains monitored and we as the purse holders don’t start bowing to “this would be a 9.7 if it was graded!!!!!” BS then it’ll all be good. The comic book industry has managed to retain an element of control, so why not us?
Get it graded Rick! And make that money for the fam!
Can't wait to find out how well it does. And yea fully agree get the money now befor it all drops again
Them mag's should be in a sleeve with a cardboard behind the mag's so they can stay strait with out corner bendings
People have been grading comics and cards for a looooong time. The concept just blew up with the recent pokemon craze.
Tommy rocking the Vegas Golden Knights Hat!
ha i didnt even notice
Awesome video Retro Rick. Always coming with the great videos. That’s such a clean sealed Super Mario’s bros 3. Such a amazing game. The Wizard is one of my favorite childhood moves. Jimmy Woods found the warp. Lucas was still my favorite character.
I think it’s really cool how much you guys appreciate and curate these items. Nostalgia aside - these were transformational cultural pieces of America.
Even if you never played them, it’s significant historically to retain the originals.
If you compared to movies or music, it’s Charlie Chaplin reels or Elvis original record. Gaming is 10x the size of music and movies combined.
My older brother had that copy of the Goosebumps Collectors Caps back in the day. It came with a sealed set of 5-6 pogs. There was also a second collectors cap book released not long after.
Here’s something that I noticed. When you put the magazines on the shelf that they aren’t very flat going vertically. I have collected a bunch of magazines over the years, and I bag and board them like comics to keep them flat and nice. Not sure if you are looking to do that to those Nintendo Power magazines, but with how those look, I would have bagged and boarded them. Also, I have saved the media shelves you mentioned and where to buy them so I’ve got that one and even the larger one saved for later when I’ve got a place for a game room. Thanks!
Dude that sealed Mario 3 looks so crispy! I’d have a hard time selling it but for the right price I’d sell it ASAP!
i know right...i got to take a chance with the video game market being so wild!
Hiya, Retro. A little random, but I found your Blockbuster "Make it a Blockbuster Night" tee at a yard sale for $1 and bought it. I wear it to bed and love it! Always enjoy seeing which retro shirt you'll wear next! ☺️
Good to watch some R’nR after a long day on a side note just sent my sealed copy of sol divide for the PS1 which is really underrated btw and I expect at least a 9 to 9.5 minimum
Wow! It’s amazing how far you have come. From 4 followers on UA-cam, to being an absolute rock star! God has been so good! Keep up the great work, brother!
Good luck!! Hope it comes back with a really high grade!
The collector's market is straight up WILD right now man! I apparently sold the vast majority of my collection way too early haha. Cheers on another dope video!
Your game room is a retro paradise its amazing
The amount of content you crammed in the corner is bad azz. Love the TMNT shelf!!!
I think you are making a good call by selling it! It’s tough to part with your collection, but hopefully it’ll receive a great grade!
If its over 20 years old and sealed i think grading them is excellent. It means there are few left out there and they need to be preserved as part of gaming history. Having newer items graded is ok too because eventually they will be just as rare as what we call retro now. If having a seales collection is your investment for the future or just your way of collecting no one should have any issue. Its all about what makes YOU happy!
well said Gregory...at the end of the day its your stuff!
16:30 “look at that boom box”
that boom box lyfe
I do think the price is overinflated. However, I’f it means the preservation of the things that made our childhood rad, I’m all for it!
I fully believe this is just part of the ever growing retro game bubble that will inevitably pop......these numbers are outrageous
Totally for the grading market, I've been collecting sealed games for a long time and it's good to see this market rise. As far as classic old books I used to read Hardy Boys quite a bit.
im excited to see what we get back with Mario 3!
@@retrorick oh most definitely bud! Can't wait to see that video when it gets back from being graded, praying for a high score on it! 😁
