So a rare sealed Super Mario Bros sold last year for $114,000 which was the record price ever for a video game. Apparently the one on this episode was even more rare, but still expecting a pawn shop to pay $1 million is crazy. Thing is, he shouldn't sell it. As people get older Mario only writes itself bigger into culture, and it'll only be worth more. Mario started in the 80s, it's the 2010s when this was probably shown on the show, and it was worth 300k then. In 20 more years when every generation that's been influenced by mario since are adults with money? Easily a multimillion dollar item. At 1mill now it's far too much of their liquid money to give up into an investment now that they'll have to wait for a decade or two for the investment to pay off but it will be worth an insane amount in the future. It's 2022 and Mario is still just as popular as he was 20 years ago.

Right? I mean most pawn shops don't even have that much money cause they're not such big businesses. Rick's is an exception. But I bet even if it was worth 2 mil and the guy would have asked for just 1, Rick still wouldn't have bought it. It's A LOT of money to invest in one item. If it fails, a lot of money to lose. This should go to a high end auction or the guy could get in contact with some really rich enthusiasts. It's not for a pawn shop.
