I never ceases to amaze me when people are told the retail value of their item they ae selling, then expect to get at least that much from a pawn shop.

I kind of understand that mentality, if you know the market and know what is easier to liquidate. For example, precious metals: I'd rather have an ounce of gold than an ounce of silver because gold is worth more, but both are easy to liquidate. But would I rather have 10,000 ounces of gold or 1 ounce of Rhodium, though? Rhodium is incredibly rare, and an ounce can run you about $20,000. But where am I going to sell it?

Every “White gold” piece is rhodium plated and requires maintenance to stay white since there actually isnt a “white gold” unless you go platinum. Nonetheless, rhodium would be pretty easy to liquidate
Chemists, automotive manufacturers ( since theres roughly 80% rhodium content in catalytic converters and thats why they get stolen and resold so heavily
