The second I heard "Baker Act" I knew it was Florida. Baker Act allows 2 family members, or family member + 1 officer to act. Police take the person to a locked-down crisis center or Hospital Psych Ward for evaluation. They can hold the person initially for up to 72 hours for that evaluation. Often the person is released before then, after the eval. In rare cases, they can take measures to hold someone longer by different legal mean. I wish every state had it. It gives the person(who most often has mentioned suicide) to not only calm down and get their head right with support, but they are set up with other programs to help them get counseling and medication for longer term mental health help, often with little to no out of pocket costs. People can also call police or go to one of these crisis centers themselves for help. EDIT/PS: It also allows police to remove someone from the public for a couple days if they are a legitimate problem and they can't easily find something to charge the person with.
While the Baker Act is only in Florida, all states have involuntary commitment laws in place. A petitioner can take someone to court to prove that they are a danger to themselves, and have them committed for treatment against their will. Also, in all states, a person may be held for 72 hours if they are an immediate threat to themselves or others. They just have different names than Baker.
@@jenx5870 This is very true. In Missouri we call it the 96 hour process. Typically we don't get super involved unless they're suicidal. If they make suicidal comments then we're taking them for a 96 no matter what. If it's just mental health we explain the process to family and let them go fill out the affadavits. There are some situations where we'll do it, typically if the person is carrying around a gun with the mental health issues due to the obvious danger to the public and themselves, but that's mostly it.

Amen! 😏🫴💯
My son thinks I cancelled his Roblox lmfaooo 😂😂😂😂 meth is a hell of a drug 😂😂
Never heard her ever say anything was her fault.
She's in the middle of a manic episode she's in a different reality unfortunately
"But i've been trying to get out.."
"For 10 years?" LMAO
That drug makes people incredibly strong
I was like, what is she on, because 2 male cops could not get her out of the car??
Because she was Slippery 😂
Wiry little thing isn't she?
Elizameth is definitely hard to deal with…
Methany being Methany 👮🏻♀️
"she's all slippery" made me weak
Gross
Oh Jonelle ... what a goofball. Always dorkin' around and playin' pranks
🤣🤣❤
She's gotta be the life of the holiday dinner every year! 🤣
I really hope she gets the help she clearly needs. It's sad when mental health issues end up with someone getting a criminal record.
1:43 😂😂 SORRY THAT OFFICER KILLED ME WITH THAT LOOK HAD ME ROLLING 😂😂
it's UNBELIEVABLE how cops let people stand next to their cars with the keys in the ignition 🤔🤔🤔
I really thought he was at least going to close her car door when she moved away from it to get the paperwork that was on the trunk. In fact, I thought that's why he pointed it out to her. Tactics save lives...
It's official - Methany is totally methed out... Say no to drugs kids.
One sure sign of trouble with any encounter by law enforcement is when a subject begins immediately to list their various unique disorders and syndromes and professional diagnoses.
It means they're obsessed with themselves and using each officially designated complaint as an excuse for their foul character.
Its like collecting Pokemon for insane narcissists
Especially when she says what she was diagnosed with then lists what she “really should be diagnosed with”…
Or maybe she is bipolar
@@heatherdowhaluk2128Exactly. She's manic and crazy, she's not "obsessed with herself." She's also probably abusing amphetamines since she claims she's diagnosed with amphetamine abuse (which would be stuff like Adderall, not meth.)
No, they are just letting the mental health issues define them. It's all they are.
This is coming from someone who has BPD, PTSD, severe anxiety, and depression. However it's what I have, not who I am. I refuse to let it define me.
"Who are you yelling at?"
"That guy behind you"
idky but this cracked me up
Now my cars tootled. The way she said that lmao.
The close of up that police officers face at about 1:46 seconds was hilarious! 😂😂😂 He can't believe her behavior with the rambling either!
Her: "and i never, ever abuse amphetamines"
Cop: 🤨🤥🤨
😂😂
The look on the cops face😂😂😂
The way the cars alarm/honk goes off too😂 3:14
Yeah she's clearly bipolar... for ppl who really don't understand what that is then just look at her teeth they're perfect she obv doesn't do meth
Her “tripolar” comment is honestly incredibly relatable…. Hope she gets some help. Not a fun way to live.
Tripolar is easy. Now, a monopole- that's a neat piece of advanced physics. ;-)
Lost count of how many arrests I got out of by simply showing the officer my bank statement. Works every time.
"I know my bones, my mom doesn't even know how to spell congratulations."
I feel so bad for her. She definitely needs some mental help.😢
I take Adderall for my ADHD but it definitely doesn't give me super strength like that. It basically just helps me read without having to re-read the paragraph I just read again. Holy crap, she's strong!
Some people i have no pity for, this lady needs serious help
I love the way addicts are like medicine experts and mental health experts...ICD, PTSD, OCD....FFS
At this point it would be easier to list what she *hasn’t* been diagnosed with.
Lord please protect our LEO’s and comfort our loved one with mental illness. My eldest brother suffers with multiple diagnoses’s and cannot be around his own family as we trigger our painful childhood too much for him. It’s horrendous, and I miss him so much. He spent a good portion of his adult life in various prisons all because he is so unwell. He has a very high IQ, to his detriment, but now has a case manager or social worker that over sees his care. She allows us to talk with him but he is a danger to us so no contact, he told her that he wanted to put me out of my misery due to the SA he committed on my from 2 years old until 14 when I got emotionally strong enough to make him stop. I forgive him, because either the voices in his head make him do it or the demons in still not sure which it is.
I'm happy that you are strong and made it through. Peace be upon you the rest of your life 💕
Demonic possession is real and the closer we get to the fineto line-the less they are hiding….thats why we are seeing so much craziness!!
When did we turn into a country that allows people like this to be roaming around, driving cars, etc?
When big pharma convinced politicians, it was cheaper to keep them on medication than keep mental hospitals running. Of course, big pharma had an alterior motive 😂
the degeneracy started in earnest in the '60s, then has ramped up exponentially since '08.
Lmao it's been like that you haven't been paying attention.
@@iswm nah I'd say since Regan. Fucker ruined this country
How does this person have a drivers license?
usually people say Im not resisting but not Jenelle they tell her stop resisting and she says no lmao
lmao
“Methany’s very very bad day!”
Everybody watching who has actual mental health issues and is on meds: "She's tweaking."
Sous drogues ou sans traitement
You clearly aren't bipolar lol
This is very sad.
