It'll work, but trim back, solder, liquid electrical tape and heat shrink....much much cleaner.

Maybe OK for an emergency. But,....I would never recommend something like this to another person.. Potential for it to pull apart exposing a hot wire. So,...potentially dangerous. A friend of mine's brother was electrocuted when he touched a bare wire while looking for fishing gear in the family attic,...lt happens.

Too bulky. Use varied length on each wire then butt connect them. Using heat shrink tubing makes in clean and thinner.

Butt connectors and heat shrink, and then electrical tape makes for a much nicer finished product. Good video though.

Do you even need the caps? How about just splicing the wires together (hot with hot twisted, white with white twisted, green with green twisted), then use liquid electrical tape on each twisted piece and then liquid electrical tape the whole thing together. Wouldn't that work and be safer with less chance of coming apart, and much sleeker? The way you show it is just too bulky and unsafe. I'm no electrician. Just using my head, but it seems like the way I would do it would be safer in the long run and could be used outside even after a rain.
