Far cry from the old cans I spent the majority of my career in ! Oh to be young again. I probably wouldn't be smart enough to get in though, I'm an analog man in a digital world.

John McNaught analog rules. Digital sucks.

Of all the people, the actual hero’s we could of named this beautiful vessel after and we chose Gifford? Come on, someone bent the SECNAVs arm behind his back and made him do this. It makes no sense at all out of all the American hero’s who have given their all the last two decades... how unreal

Craig Ward Precisely! Why not Christopher Kyle, Michael Murphy, Michael Monsoor, Michael Thornton, Tyrone Woods and William “Bill” Dawson? They’re all former SEALS (to name a few) who are far more deserving of a vessel representing their namesake.
Even my Uncle Tom (also a former SEAL and Team Leader) who was also stationed in Vietnam during the early Sixties (1960-64) before the US even joined the action. He continued to serve after that time period after the US involvement but there are very little records to show for it. Typical SOP with SOF units. I always told him that he deserves to have a ship named after him. Sadly, Parkinson’s claimed his back in 2016 but I still think he deserves the posthumous honor.
Keep up the good work my friend.

@@BertShackleford DDG 1001 is named after Monsoor and DDG 112 is named after Murphy.

@@DJErikD1969 That's fantastic! Thank you for sharing. It's never a dull day if you learn something new.
The Navy has such a large inventory of ships and many more in the works. I'm always interested in the future naming of vessels.
      Stay classy my friend.

This ship should not exist... are a wast of money... and you know it...

Hit anything? Hopefully you're checking for targeting accuracy and not just test firing at today's prices. That wasn't a musket ball.
