I’m a leafs fan, I wasn’t watching this one live but checked the score after the first and it was 0-3 and I just assumed we would lose, checked the final score 7-3 which really caught me off guard😂
I would love a leafs habs playoff series again. The intensity of it. The bitter rivalry. The constant back and forth chirping. Playoffs have been getting stale with so many of the same playoff series Year in and Year out. I don't know if I'm the only one feeling this way, but I'm not a fan of the current playoff format. The expanded pandemic format felt much more exciting
Have to stay out of the box when the opposition has an excellent PP. We were fine playing 5 on 5. Some bad luck and that missed call on Marner's trip was frustrating but that is not why we lost. We stopped skating.
After the leaf made it 3-3 the habs got so many opportunities it couldve went both ways. I dont see a CLEAR winner here if you talk about how both team played. They hit a post that could made it 4-0 easily, Woll was beaten. Then another post at 3-3 or 3-4 ( i dont recall exactly when ) , that couldve gave the habs an edge. Then Woll did 2 insane save to keep his team ahead. Let's not forget the 7th goal is in an empty net, it was 6-3 before it happens.
100% No one talks about this puck luck Woll had to complement his own excellence. 2 posts and a lucky ass save on Suzuki with the knob of his stick while he was desperately diving from the next area code. That's 3 goals that an inch made no-goals. That's hockey. The end score doesn't always reflect how it went.
@@jonathanallard2128 Woll reminds me of Price, it's who he modeled his game after. Price wasn't a Vezina/Hart trophy goalie for his first few years as the backbone of the Habs, he was the backup, then became DEBATEABLY, outside winning a stanley cup, the best goalie of the last 20 years.
I have really been rooting for the Habs this season, even though I am a Rangers fan... Here's hoping for a Rangers OT win tonight I guess? Habs have been a lot of fun to watch and I think they have great things ahead in the coming years.
Why not? The Habs just defeated Florida, Vegas, Colorado, Dallas etc. on their recent stretch.. Meanwhile the Leafs were 6-4-0 heading into last night's game which is still good.. But if the Habs won last night I wouldn't have been a shock.
Absolutely. The Habs were on fire and the Leafs are a joke. Why they didn't put Dobes in nets is a mystery. Oh well, at least he'll be in tonight to destroy my SECOND most hated team, the Rangers.
Some teams you can't let up on the pressure. Toronto is one of those teams. You gotta keep you foot on their throat. Marty will get them back on track. Still a young team learning.
Dobes has had some stunning games but you don’t want to burn out a rookie by immediately making him starter. Better he keeps gaining confidence as backup. Come playoffs or just before is the time to make the switch if Dobes continues to be lights out.
He already fight Reeves before and won. He's being asked to fight "responsibly". And yes, at that particular time in the game, it was useless to do so.
@razvanzamfir1545 nah. Jackeye jumped, Reaves that "fight". Jackeye is scared to have an actual fight with him. Either way, he gave the leafs the win because of this.
@@JudgeTread1 Previous fight was a fight, even if not the usual type. If you'd ever hear the coach MSL or Xhekaj talk about fights, you'd know the coach wants him to be a deterrent but also a good D-man. And if he picks fights needlessly, he'll get benched and even demoted to AHL - both of which have happened. He fought Rempe yesterday because A - Rempe wanted it and B - we were behind at that moment -> powerplay for us -> goal on PP (well, right after).
Crazy game, the boys moved on and beat the Rangers in OT....This team is for real, Hutson is for real, Dobes is for real, Suzuki, laine, Caufield, Guhle this team is for real!!!
As one of your Leafs fan subscribers, I knew this one was going to be a bang ding ow to the gut. But Montreal does have promise and I hope the rivalry can mean something once again.
The Leafs got some desperately-needed secondary scoring while Leon Draisaitl (on the latter of whose goals Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins assisted) was the only Oiler to score on Canucks’ goalie Thatcher Demko during a 3-2 Canucks regulation win.
The Habs had the game and taunted a team that is MUCH better overall on the rush. They challenged the Leafs, they fucked around and found out. Take the good. Learn. This isn't as bad as you think. The boys tried to go for it against a team with a MUCH deeper payroll in a style that was the worst choice. They got over-excited. This game is probably the best potential learning experience for them possible.
Some penalty trouble and missed assignments on defense. Other than that, it was a really good game. This could have just as easily gone the other way, at least 2 leafs goals were directly after the habs were inches away from a goal
Honestly I'd probably be more upset, but I think the 7 unanswered isn't really reflective of how the teams actually played. Like I'm not saying the habs didn't mess up to allow that to happen, but part of the reason for it being 7 unanswered really just came down to Monty having a bad night, Woll deciding it was spelt with an a, and some puck luck. It just wasn't as one sided as 7 unanswered would suggest. Don't get me wrong, it was bad, but the optics were just much worse. The fact that it was bad but the scoreline was worse makes me hope it works even better as a lesson and wake up call. Basically you get the sting of such a bad collapse without the players actually collapsing that badly making it easier or more likely to clean it up.
Hutson got beat like toast by Willy N who scored, then Hutson took a stupid penalty which gave the leafs another goal. Then he was on the ice for at least 3 more goals against. Terrible defensive game. Dont hang this on Monty.
@@jonathanlegthigh8264 I'm so tired of people acting like it's not the goalie's job to be the last line of defense. If a goalie lets in goals every time the defense fucks up, they're not a good goalie. I don't expect Monty to be Price, but the only reason we made it to the finals in 2021 is because Price bailed us out about 1000 times in that Cup run.
Matt, I actually enjoyed last nights game. The Habs were flying in the first period, it could have been 5 -0 easily. The Leafs are an incredible team this year, and our young guns owned them for the first period last night. And then for the next 60 minutes I got to watch some pretty hockey plays... these leafs can turn it on when they want to... that is something they have never had before! Oh and Please tell me Why Monty was left in the net after the Leafs taken the lead?
@@CheetoesFleetoes The Habs woke up a better team.....The last 40 minutes were some great hockey.... just not great for my habs. The habs don't have to win, especially when they are playing a top 2-3 team in the league.... all I need is for them to show me something.... something tob build on and that first period was 1000% of that!
I like St. Louis as our coach, but it was such a stupid move for him to keep Monty in net when the Leafs went up 4-3, even if Dobes was expected to start yesterday.
Add a big defensemen to the habs. They need to build around Hutson now. Hutson doesn't have the size to wear guys down. Part of the habs issue has been the inability to deal with star players. Shore up the whole situation and keep Hutson in a good position. Get him someome
Tale of two games: The first and then... The rest. Monty wasn't sharp, but hardly reason number one. I said it during game to family when Toronto got their first. Hate being right, but you'd have to be blind or completely new to the game to not see how that momentum shifted. Just no bounce back. Was disappointed WiFi didn't drop the mitts with Reaves when he went hunting after Josh's goal. An opportunity to win a fight and take what little wind they had in their sails. Let's not go all shitty on them. It's a reality check and that reality is, despite the run of late and some good signs from some of the boys, this is still a team in rebuild and the Laughs are still the same top loaded club that can win when it doesn't matter and disappear in April.
Every team craps the bed on occasion, bud. Nothing to worry about "too" much, I don't think. MTL has lots to be proud of, and build upon this season. Let's hope they learned something from it, most of all. I certainly am not ruling them out of the wild card just yet. Hoping to see them continue to trend in the right direction, and get in to the playoffs. 🍻
Woll probably the only reason the Habs werent up 5 or 6-0 after the 1st. Xhekaj was smart not fighting Reevo, but maybe leave the taunts for late in the 3rd when youre up big and someones trying to pick a pity fight. Both teams took it in turns being Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Enough with the cute sentiments. The Habs are in the running. Go with the hot hand. And get used to it as Jacob Fowler will be coming up eventually. There are points on the table, now go get them. Go Habs!
I drove 7 hours to my first ever NHL game to watch this fucking shit while surrounded by Leafs fans in the nosebleeds.
Oooof, sorry to hear that bud.
Brutal 😂
Sounds painful
7 hours? Eh, Habs fans. It was this guy's fault 😂
Ahahahahaha sucks to suck
I got so happy that the Habs was up by 3-0 and I thought they were going to win, but by the 3rd period rolled around I got upset😢 hopefully they will do better tonight!
in a leafs-habs game, i only breathe a little easier at 7-0
Monty just confirmed that he's better suited as a back up and dobes should be given the starting position until monty can earn it back. He's not a bad goalie by any means, he's just not a starter level goalie
Ahhhhh it’s nice to be on the good side of one of these games for a change.
The only thing I'm going to say is, thankfully with a back to back, Doby will be in the net tonight. With a win, let's pray he gets his first multi game run.....
It's never over until the end.
If Dobes plays good tonight theres a discussion to be had about goaltending
Im glad i wasnt the only one who noticed dvorak doing no back check
As a leafs fan what a great game Joseph woll played really well gg what a comeback by the boys
I’m a leafs fan, I wasn’t watching this one live but checked the score after the first and it was 0-3 and I just assumed we would lose, checked the final score 7-3 which really caught me off guard😂
.....WOW !!!!!.....Blake Hudson looks even smaller and weaker when he's facing top talent......
Stings a bit can't lie but Habs are still winning another Cup before the Leafs
At first I was lolling... but then I cried!
That was the definition of momentum shift
OUCH.... that hurts perhaps a bit of a wake up call for the boys
I was at this game. Building was rocking after 1st period. It hit 3-2 and the building's energy changed. Team lost their confidence after that.
Have to stay out of the box when the opposition has an excellent PP. We were fine playing 5 on 5. Some bad luck and that missed call on Marner's trip was frustrating but that is not why we lost. We stopped skating.
Leafs PP has been terrible this year.
@@hottuna2006 Turning Marner, Nylander and Matthews loose on a PP is foolish at best.
What a night to be in the Bell Centre. Still waiting for my voice to come back.
100%
No one talks about this puck luck Woll had to complement his own excellence.
2 posts and a lucky ass save on Suzuki with the knob of his stick while he was desperately diving from the next area code. That's 3 goals that an inch made no-goals.
That's hockey. The end score doesn't always reflect how it went.
@@jonathanallard2128 Yeah totally agree
@@jonathanallard2128
Woll reminds me of Price, it's who he modeled his game after.
Awsome take on the game 😊
How are you able to use this footage
Glad to know I'm not the only one that was devasted
Monty, Dvorak Line really shit the bed for us last night.
It was pathetic, but did anyone really expect the Habs to beat the leafs in the first place ??
With Dobeś in the net, yes
Well, you gotta keep positive in these embarrassing times! But let's not go into complete denial . It's a fine line 😄
Go Habs! 😢
@@HockeyJunkie Reavo💪. Don't be scared homie
I felt something had shifted when Leafs scored their 2nd. Leading 3-0 after 1 period is very tricky...
BAHAHAHAHA keeping pointing at the scoreboard now!
As a Leaf fan it's good to know that the Leafs are not the only team capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Great vid bro
Some teams you can't let up on the pressure. Toronto is one of those teams. You gotta keep you foot on their throat. Marty will get them back on track. Still a young team learning.
No idea why they started mont, dobes has been insane against the best in the league
Ya Dobes would have made all the difference 😂 He would have got trucked too. Kid has a .908 save % in the AHL he will come down to earth fast.
Dude do you know which team he won against? Toronto didn't even handle Dallas at home with a lost 4-1.
@Mic-n4k 4 fukn games guy. Just let it marinate. LOL
Dobes has had some stunning games but you don’t want to burn out a rookie by immediately making him starter. Better he keeps gaining confidence as backup. Come playoffs or just before is the time to make the switch if Dobes continues to be lights out.
@@thebigpicture2032playoffs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was waiting for this review...
Jackeye being too scared to fight was the topper.
3:03 With who?
Toronto has proven countless times that when they want to they dont need 60 minutes to win a game
I have to agree and I honestly think the hiring of Craig Berube was a perfect fit.
@@HockeyJunkie Let's see in playoff when it really counts.
@@mamagne800 that will definitely be the ultimate test
@@HockeyJunkie I agree IF Montreal can get there 😂
What a great game! :)
The old monty is back 😤😤
Sam Montemblew it. Time to stick with "Jake The Best" for a while.
GO LEAFS GO
The Habs had the game and taunted a team that is MUCH better overall on the rush.
I prayed and prayed for this one and the hockey Gods turned their backs on me. Time to ramp up the sacrifices.
As a Winnipeg fan glad we have Helly he would never let in 7 straight
Very surprised they have not made a callup yet to replace Pezz. Dobes will be much better tonight!
I’m actually thinking about getting some Habs toilet paper after that one
Hutson got beat like toast by Willy N who scored, then Hutson took a stupid penalty which gave the leafs another goal. Then he was on the ice for at least 3 more goals against. Terrible defensive game. Dont hang this on Monty.
This is 90% Monty, pal. The guy SUCKS. Stop making excuses for him, he’s terrible.
@jonathanlegthigh8264 your boy...and I do mean boy, Lil Hutson is terrible as a defenceman.
@@BEYONDYOURIQ I agree he's not the best defenseman but he's a damn good player, should be a forward.
@@ehbcd
Reminds me of PK and Karlsson.. Great as a 4th forward, but defensively? OOF.
It seemed to me that the habs were sleeping the next 40 minutes. If they had been just as energetic as the Leafs were, the results would be different
Where are you from? I can’t tell if you have an accent I’ve never heard before or if it’s just a speech impediment.
Ouch. I hate this because my cousins in Toronto are laughing.
We NEED to win tonight because if not I fear the locker room morale will drop and we wont be playing at 100% like we have been for the past month
what a great game!
It didn't show Austin Matthew's one timer 😢
Xhekaj reminds me of Alexei (Y)Emelin, Huge hitter/mouthpiece when they're winning, but won't answer the bell. Emelin had a reason too though, metal plate in his head.
