    I've been waiting on this since I've been sporting the RPHA 90S Balian for 3 years. It's a lot more money for my Noela version. I hope it doesn't have the same problem with the inner visor as the regular RPHA 91. I face planted on a rock with my 90S and it stayed intact.

    I would like to see a rating for the helmet being waterproof, ie. no leaks at the visor. I had an earlier HJC modular and the visor leaked from the top, I returned it for a refund after arguing the basic requirement of a touring helmet is that it shouldn't let water in.

    After riding with an arai xd4 for the last 5 years, i was searching for something new. After tons of research, i landed on the 91 carbon. I can't tell you how disappointed i am in this helmet. For starters, one big seller for me is the ability for the helmet to work with glasses. Hjc says this helmet accommodates glasses, but it does not. There is no slot for the glasses arms to sit in, causing the helmet to squeeze the glasse. Not only is it very uncomfortable, but it is hard to get glasses to sit properly on your face. The second issue i had was that i was expecting the helmet to weigh in around 3.5 pounds (1599 grams), it actually weighed in at 3.76 pounds (1705 grams). At that point, it's roughly the same wight of my arai xd4 seemingly negating the point of it being a carbon helmet. But the third issue is the biggest. This helmet feels cheap. The shell somehow doesnt seem to have any of the rigidity that I'd expect from carbon and the vents feel like they'd be broke In a few weeks with regular use. Its possible that im holding it to impossible standards but for the price i feel like thats ok. In summary id give this helmet 2 stars overall and urge people to look at other options.

      @@Shadylurker85 I'm afraid DOT helmets are almost always heavier than the ECE (european) versions we review. Not sure where you live, but for your next helmet purchase you may want to check if your state allows for ECE helmets, as they are pretty much always lighter and faster to market. But yes, unfortunately DOT helmets are known to be heavier

      Appreciate the support 💪 We've used largely the same metrics for determining weight scores for a long time now. The current pool of modular helmets are just a bit heavier than they used to be, that's why even the top performers only get 3 / 3.5 stars.

    Hey, Woundering if flip up helmet is as good as solid one ? I am thinking of going to track time to time with it. Thinking of buying this model

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  8 місяців тому +1

      Generally speaking, flip-up helmets are going to be heavier, a bit less aerodynamic, and their visors will not be prepared for tear-offs. However, this doesn't mean that you can't wear them on track days, but they will be less optimal compared to race helmets for example.

      In all honesty, the C5 Carbon is a very good helmet, but it pretty much disqualifies itself by having such an enormous price tag, making it hard to put the C5 Carbon over any other high-end modular solely based on pricing.

    I just bought it. XL size carbon. Wind noise is EXTREMELY bad. It is far worse than an open face helmet wind noise.
    seems like the source of it is at the contact point between the bottom part of face shield and the helmet. I just put my hand in front of it and, the wind noise dropped considerably.
    I am riding a scooter on an upright position.
    Very disappointed since one of the reason that I bought it is because of the wind noise.
    It far worse than my 10+ years old Schuberth C3 Pro
