    I have that exact set i use it weekly they have held up quite well. haven't broke one yet none of them are binding. I use them at work as a professional diesel mechanic been using them for over a year now. You are correct though they are a little bit wide on the collar where the pain is.

      Awesome...thanks for the first hand feedback! Glad to hear they have held up so well. The collar is really the only performance negative from the bench test...although I do prefer the stamping to be opposite, that is a minor gripe overall. For the price, these are hard to beat if they hold up that well.

      @@lonestarmopars yeah you're right the stamping should be the opposite. And the price is definitely good. Snap-on and Mac want like 800 a set.

    I have Sunex 3/8" Drive 6-Point Universal Impact 16-piece Set, 7 mm to 22 mm; and same as above, 7-Piece SAE Set 3/8" to 3/4".

      That is a really nice size range on the Sunex set. I've been close to winding up with something of theirs to try out, but something always seems to come up. As a spoiler I've wound up with a lot of Icon stuff recently due to 25% coupons...initial plan was to just use/test Icon for metric stuff since I don't use it as often.

    I used the trays for a long time but recently I went with a more compressed organization system. I like both ways honestly. The system I have now I can't just puck up and go now like I could with the trays so it'd nice to have it as an option but I'm sure it doesn't cost that much more or they would do it differently.

      Awesome, glad to hear you have been happy with them AND got them for a good price. If you can get the Icon 20-25% off it is really hard to pass up.

    I use cordless for things like impacts, drivers drills etc. But Air for anything that needs to be ran for long periods, like sanders. Corded electric for my grinders. I have yet to invest into Icon. I don't wrench every day like I would like to nor do it professionally like you. However I can see the case for QUALITY tools that would require it like swivel heads to avoid breaking them. SO hard for me to justify the cost otherwise. I am still using all my 3/8 Pittsburg. Never broke one but I do NOT like the marking on it. hard to see, so yeah I want it stamped like you mentioned. I bought a set of number punches i plan on putting the sizes onto them eventually. How are you getting along with HF Cordless line? I am considering going to them soon as my batteries etc for my milwaukee are all starting to take a crap. I could get all new batteries and tools for cheaper if I switched.

      Yeah, at work I'm 95% air. Our grinders are corded. I'm mainly just using the battery stuff for minor tasks. Yep, the swivels are definitely somewhere to justify spending a little more. These were sort of going to be my test batch since they don't get used as much as SAE, but I've wound up with quite a few stupid good deals (see also 25% coupons) and expanded from here. Their new Quinn impact sockets, which look a lot like Capri based off pictures, will have the good laser etching and stampings. The big perk to the Pittsburgh stuff is just the thinner wall due to being chrome vanadium.
      In all honestly, I'm really happy with the Hercules stuff. If you want a gateway into it, I'd go with a long neck ratchet, the standard impact drivers, or the new hex driver...If you are patient and wait for sales/promos, you can get great buys. I was always happy with my Ridgid stuff, but got a dead on arrival blower and got tired of jumping thru their hoops.

      Glad to hear! Yeah, for intermittent use it is hard to justify the price jump.

      Haha, thanks for the support! Mopars, old industrial American brands, German Tools, a few Japanese tools, and an eclectic assortment of Harbor Freight stuff seems to be a little too diverse for YT...I'll take any help I can get...thanks again for watching and liking and commenting.

    If they expect you to use the trays they come in why make them so big. No mechanic i know has the room to use those big trays,as nice as they are.

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  Рік тому

      Yeah, it is a pretty sad setup. The trays really are nice, but they take up a TON of room. Unless you are stacking SAE and Metric in a deeper drawer, it is hard to justify keeping any of the socket trays. The 1/2" are worse given how they are laid out. I guess if you've got a giant box, or just a really simple cart and these are your go-to impact sockets, you might be able to swing the case. As is, I'd honestly prefer a spring steel rail in a cardboard box for $10-20 less. Great packaging and presentation, nice tray, but just kind of overkill with the sockets.
