Bit later than usual, lost most of the recording while editing lol so I had to redo this one almost from scratch 😭Big yikes. Still, I'm NO QUITTER I got'er dun! here's last week's class!
Honestly my most important takeaway from this class is the eye construction. All the other abstractions methods Ive tried were never as consistent at yours. With art I feel like a kid again, excited for class because I’m having so much fun learning. Thanks Marc!
A good class once more and a much needed one at that. This one got me pumping, really itching for some practice. After a long while of just drawing westernized simplified cartoon faces that I've been enjoying for my entire childhood. It's like finding the same color of paint but in a different hue that you want to really check out and use.
I actually thought it was wrong to draw the brain (circle) larger than the face but this helps a lot! It also relieved that thought since I always drew it that way lol Thank you!
This tutorial is awesome! I'm not really a beginner (practicing for about 2 years now) and I've always struggled with chins on my characters, not that I couldn't do them but they would take ridiculously long compared to the rest of the face. After watching this tutorial for whatever reason it has finally clicked!
I love how these classes falls from the sky 😍 That's just what I needed !! No doubt I'll practice right now and try to save some of my arts or I wold say all of then. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you!!!🤗😁😊 Now It's art time ⏲!!!
Another great video! It is always interesting the see an artists' unique recipe and their thought process behind it. I am hoping at some point Marc will drop and actual food recipe tutorial with no context lol
Marc, i have always been admiring you ever since i see your channel, and i began working on becoming a concept artist ever since. However, i find a lot of trouble in adding details into a design, sometimes they are too much but not memorable, and some are too little. I would be very delighted if you can make a class on it, thank you
Oh look at our amazing art teacher giving the lesson I needed right on time. Thanks so much! You the best ❤. Edit: low key I've been practicing 3/4 view heads for the past 3 days so this helps a lot with how I wanted to beautify the faces/heads more.
wow! Thanks a lot! That class will deffinetly help on my next piece! Can't really afford the dollar in my contry rn... So this is the best content I coud've ever ask for free.. can't thank you enough on how much you're helping me to develop my perspective and consistency just by watching your channel here.
Simplifying is something I'm working on atm, very helpful! I'd love to see a similar lesson on male faces - I'm finding it hard to simplify a male face with expressive eyes without it looking too "cutesy" 🤔
Something that clicked with me recently is stop worrying about something that looks good as a total beginniner and focusing on learning something from each drawing.
Thanks Marc, I will come back to draw along after I finished hand practice today. And I want to also thank you for your free brush set. They are really good especially the line art brush. I use it like 99% of the time. Actually its quite fun to simple shade with your line art brush too.
Art baby or art pro, i think i'll always be watching these classes until the day (May it not come for a long long time) Marc decides to stop making them because they are always inspiring and motivating no matter the info
Hmm. This class really helped me with a problem I had been trying to figure out regarding animation. I had all of the pieces I needed to figure out the answer but I couldn’t figure it out until I watched this class. I was trying to figure out how to get an animation of a face that is facing directly towards the camera to rotate quickly. I was going to try and experiment with making the eyes and mouth a sphere and then compositing in a nose but I think it would be easier just to squash the one side of the face and stretch the other side. I am excited to run some experiments now. I think it is funny that I have learned more about VFX and animation from artist then I have animators. Principles apply even when the mediums change.
Yay I can do the head construction. … Oh, I still need the facial features. Thanks for the amazing tutorial, I finally mastered it after 2 weeks of practice and watching the video 3 times.
Another thing he's done on the lvl 2 without knowing/explaining is that you can also lower the eyes a little bit to make room for a bigger forehead and more hair to optionally cover said forehead.
Can u do an episode on drawing a character board? Do u usually do one as an illustrator? I have a problem with drawing my characters consistently at different angles 🤧 pls and thank u 🙏🏼
Marc has given me a lot of motivation back into art. When I noticed I spent more time drawing during classes than taking notes in my current (non art) program I realized I do want to pursue art as a career, but I was too scared before cause I thought there wouldn't be jobs. I'm starting to see that that's wrong. I never really studied art, I have just done it for fun since I was a child, and I decided I want to actually learn about it so I can become an artist who can get a job in that field. For now though I will be studying art alongside my current program. Anyways, I started the ART School program today and I was wondering is there a recommended order in the lessons inside a specific term?
I see that alot with face drawing where the contour line cuts off and continues via a "implied line" say for the example the nose bridge or bottom lip in your video. I would like to ask, what is the "science" behind that? Is it based on light? Bone structure? Stylization? Or it it becuase it looks cool? Just curious, asking these type of questions helps me learn!
@@noobatredstone3001 so in the case with lips (anime single line lips in particular) it's the part of the lip that hits light? Or is it that supposed to resemble the concave of the combined upper and lower lips when closed? It's like these things are never talked about when it comes to stylization vs realism.
@@CraneStyleNJ do you mean when there’s just a bit of the lip line missing in anime? In that case yes, it’s the part that would reflect the most light relative to the viewer. Since anime has color and values though, it doesn’t have to focus as much on defining shadows with lines, so they are mostly in places where skin folds. Sinix design has a series called “anatomy quick tips.” I recommend to watch it, as apart from the useful info it provides, it also has sections dedicated to stylization in every video.
Mostly based on the surface in question- if the detail protrudes a lot or if it shows something overlapping something else, I’ll use a line to define it. If the detail doesn’t deviate too much from the average surface, then it’s suggested or simply ignored.
Very lucky to get the amazing art - tips, I feel 20 % pro artist, after just a few episodes . . Can't draw at all, but I know I got, when watching #thx . . . :'-))
I don’t see the link to the hair tutorial in the description so here is the link to video I believe Marc was referencing- ua-cam.com/video/-KupUx6vr0k/v-deo.html
If there was a way for you to sell all your art knowledge, liq a ship that record your brain skill and then people can copy and implant on their head and instantly get good like you, how much would you charge for it?
Bit later than usual, lost most of the recording while editing lol so I had to redo this one almost from scratch 😭Big yikes. Still, I'm NO QUITTER I got'er dun! here's last week's class!
thank u for those videos
altho i suck at drawing because i am dying mentally but watching them is fun
Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much for your hardwork! I can finally draw Studio Ghibli characters-
Thank you so much for taking the time to do more and continue the lesson. ❤

Marc always has the most ridiculously confusing intros, but they’re top tier at the same time.
Very true lol

Finally bought the Art school program. And all I can say is ''IT IS AMAZING''
Good luck with it, wish I could afford it!
im broke
I don’t think I have ever clicked on a video faster lol Thank you Marc!!! I can’t wait for next week’s class!

I really love how easy you make all these seem. Thank you for the in depth explanations as always!

is there some science behind how Marc knows EXACTLY what I struggle with and makes a video when I need it the most??

Lot of good little nuggets here.
I'm all ears because the faces you draw in your art are one of the cutest and best out there
Hey Marc, do you know how to draw chibis? if so can you make a tutorial in the future cause I'm struggling right now.
Simplifying is something I'm working on atm, very helpful! I'd love to see a similar lesson on male faces - I'm finding it hard to simplify a male face with expressive eyes without it looking too "cutesy" 🤔
Just remember not all men look rough and mean af. Some look as soft as some women.
Something that clicked with me recently is stop worrying about something that looks good as a total beginniner and focusing on learning something from each drawing.
The video was really clean and it will help a lot of people!
At 2 am seriously. I will watch it after refreshing myself. Thanks for the class Kawai Baldy Sensei.

Another thing he's done on the lvl 2 without knowing/explaining is that you can also lower the eyes a little bit to make room for a bigger forehead and more hair to optionally cover said forehead.
Can you please do a video on how to find your own style of art please

Yay, class is here!!!!
Sorry for the extra work Marc😔😔
I do have a bit of a proplem with faces but this was really helpful tbh!
July 1356 was a great summer. I remember when you started. I was in your first class back when we just used charcoal.

Dread it
Run from it
Learning how to draw faces always arrives
This video is too good :0
It was great
your videos are so helpful sir
Going to try some of these tricks later 👍🏿
Good as always thank you
Hey, could you please do a video about how to draw legs / shoes and them toes😭
I gotta learn to draw shoes as well. I've gotten everything but the shoes.
It came right when I was picking my sketchbook, now I have an Elvis hairstyle chibi when I'm more used to draw animals
I thought that skeleton on the left was in the background and it really messed me up when your elbow went behind it
What I was looking for thanks man
Level 3: Marc style with more lip
Level 2: Marc style with more eyelashes
Level 1: *ghibli* (aka Marc)
Great artist 👍💖

Basically, you perceive the lines as shadows and the canvas as light. The eye doesn’t really need lines, as there are none irl.

Big Brain stuffs again, Thank you for your Work Marc 👆👉
Do u have brushes for Procreate? Btw Thanks for your videos. They help me a lot. Love your style

This dude can read my mind bruh
