Excellent as always.....I never used those backgrounds before, I will have to give it a try. If you wanted to store your own backgrounds, or even an image you'd like to insert as a background frequently, is there a way to store that image in that library of backgrounds...(or store it somewhere easy and fast to navigate to). Thanks.........................................Philip
Hi Philip, I don't know of any way to add new images to that Backgrounds list so your best option would be to just make a folder on your computer for Backgrounds and then use the Place command in the File menu to place those into your project. They will come in as a smart layer, just drag that above the existing background. George
Hi, Adobe releases a new version of Photoshop Elements every year in October but don't worry the program doesn't change that much between versions. I am putting up a new video review today on PSE 2020 which includes demonstrations of all the new features. If you already have my training then this video is all you need to get up to speed on 2020. If you don't have my training then I highly recommend it as the best way to learn Photoshop Elements. George
Photoshop Elements is designed for photos so it will always blur the edges a bit fi you use refine edge. But you can increase the contrast setting in refine edge to help a bit and you can also use the burn tool after you have make the layer mask on the edge of the layer mask to make the edge even harder.
Sometimes you need to double click the new background for it to be placed into the file. Also make sure that there is no other layer above blocking the view of the new backgrounc.
George, thanks for the quick review. I like these because among other things, it gives me the chance to check my settings. I did a layered mask yesterday and had issues with the hair. I see on your tutorial the "Smart Radius" is checked! I did not have my selection set up this way. I just did a couple of things and it works much better. The checkboxes are always very important, the concept of Anti-aliasing and decontaminate colors are other quick topics both of great importance. Thank you sir, I see PSE 2020 is out, I forget that you can always download a trial version from Adobe for 30 days, might give this one a buy, I am still using 15, so this is the year I often upgrade. Rich
Hi Rich, Adobe says in their new features list that they have added AI to the selection process. I am playing around with it today but if the AI works like the new AI in the Adobe Photoshop Content Aware Fill tool over in Adobe Photoshop this could be a game changer. George
@@HTGGeorge Thats the one thing I hope they do!!!! Have been waiting for this and thought they had added it to earlier versions but didn't seem like it. I am going to download it next week and mess around with it Rich
@@MrMoonpie001 Hi Rich, I am playing around with it today. So far looks like there is some AI at work in the Guided Edits, for instance the Content Aware Fill works better in Guided Edits than it does in Expert Mode, but still not as good as the new version in Adobe Photoshop which is magical. The Skin Smoothing tool is interesting but as usual not perfect and requires a little bit of touch up after using the tool. It also does not clean up skin as much as Adobe shows in their web site advertising, but that is also usual for Adobe, they build those pages before the product is finished and often they fake those shots. I will be posting a review tomorrow but so far aside from not being perfect it does look like a good upgrade. My only real complaint is that Home Screen with no easy way to launch right into the Editor and by pass the Home Screen, so will still be doing my workaround on that. George
Elements is easy. If all you want to do is to convert a picture to png. Open it in Elements, go to the file menu, click Save As and choose png as the file format. Same as in Photoshop. Of course the new Photoshop 2022 also has the Quick Export function, but it actually is the same number of clicks.

Great Video George. Very helpful. I see by one of the comments that the 2020 version is out - are you going to do a review?
Hi Richard, Photoshop Elements 2020 just came out on Wednesday and I will be posting a review tomorrow.
George
Fantástic
Thanks!
George
How do you refine the edge without it making the edge of your object transparent???
Photoshop Elements is designed for photos so it will always blur the edges a bit fi you use refine edge. But you can increase the contrast setting in refine edge to help a bit and you can also use the burn tool after you have make the layer mask on the edge of the layer mask to make the edge even harder.
When will you be releasing a course for the new Photoshop Elements 2020?

When I choose and select a new background from the Graphics menu it doesn't show on my image. What am I doing wrong?
Sometimes you need to double click the new background for it to be placed into the file. Also make sure that there is no other layer above blocking the view of the new backgrounc.
@@HTGGeorge Will try that, thank you.

Elements is supposed to be easy... So WHY can't I "Create and Save" a .png file in "literally three clicks" to my desktop like I can in Photoshop?
Elements is easy. If all you want to do is to convert a picture to png. Open it in Elements, go to the file menu, click Save As and choose png as the file format. Same as in Photoshop. Of course the new Photoshop 2022 also has the Quick Export function, but it actually is the same number of clicks.
