As a super amateur photographer, I've always been afraid of Photoshop and just figured I'd try to squeeze as much functionality out of apps like VSCO or even the stock iPhone Photos editor first. This was an amazing introduction to PS! Loved how you didn't get too extensive and just showed how transformative small adjustments can be with such a powerful application. Cheers, Tyler!
This was amazing Tyler. I’m always using Lightroom to edit my photos but I’ve always wanted to jump into photoshoot to either fix something or just try something a little more creative. This was a perfect beginner tutorial which actually makes it easy to understand the more advanced stuff, awesome job
I went to school for design, took a class on Photoshop, used it in school, tried using it after school and still avoid it like the plague haha. BUT the tips you showed in this vid (and using LUTs !) made it wayyyyy more approachable for me as a photographer as I jump into more commercial work! Thanks again!
So glad to hear it Austin. There are a million things easy to approach every task in Photoshop but learning the “right” to do things can save a ton of time down the road.
Man, I usually don’t watch these types of videos anymore, generally assuming my workflow is in a good place and stuff. But, apparently, despite having been using photoshop in one capacity or another since like 2003… I had no idea you could change opacity with the number keys. Or that command+delete fills the background colour. So, many thanks. You’ve probably just saved a few cumulative days of my life! I’d suggest checking out the patch tool as well. It’s hidden in the “J” menu, and I personally find myself using it more often than the spot healing brush.
these are my favorites - Ctrl + t , Ctrl +t+i (invert selection ) smart sharpening , and selecting area a simply Deleting ( filling that part automatically), and gradient tool to have some nice fade effect .
of all the tutorials this is absolutely the best. Just the right amount of button pushing, explanation, and example. some just tend to go on to much of a tangent.
The first video I saw from Tyler Stalman was the comparison of video editing software between FCPx and Premiere Pro. It was easy to understand and fun to hear from Tyler and other popular video editors. From that moment, I have subscribed to this channel and enjoy watching his videos.
Thank you !! That was a very useful tutorial. I'm not new to Photoshop, but I haven't used it in quite a while. You have helped refresh my memory on things that at one point we're almost second nature. Thanks again.
Hey Stalman thank you for taking the time to share a piece of the editing process, it is always helpful. Could you please give me a link to course guide thanks
Super helpful Tyler! Been using Photoshop for years but even I learned some stuff here :) What's that furry thing just in the frame of some of the shots? Great video!
As I'm a wedding album designer i have to place many of the photos in frames as a smart object and after that i have to open that photos individually and edit them and save them to its original folder from where i have opened them. But from few days i cant save my smart object JPG file in my defult folder it always open TEMP folder to save them. If i save them to its original folder from where i have opened them for editing, it doesnot reflects on my album PSD. After opening a Smartobject ( i.e - JPG ) in a new layer for editing from album psd file. When i try to save that it always saves to my TEMP file in PC. It was going right.. it used to save my smart object file to its original file location from where i have opened it before, and it would reflect in my psd also, but from few days I'm getting trouble in saving those. It automatically saves in TEMP file in PC. As I use one photo in 2 3 frames in my album psd as smart object before it used to reflect after editing once. But now i have to edit the same same photo repeatedly ?? Plese help. How can i reset this.
This video is not for me😌 Don't have a camera 📷(but I have mobile camera for my clicks😌). don't have a pc🥺 But I love his presentation and quality of video....nxt lvl mahn✨
It is not a good idea to move as fast as you can. For beginners, it doesn't matter if this video is twice as long. We want to understand. I had to copy/past the transcript. After reading sections, then I came back and watched this again. Now I understand better. However, I don't understand most of the concepts.
I feel like I do almost all of these in LR. Is there any downsides to using LR for those adjustments? Since they’re built right on the RAW it seems it would be preferable
You can take it really far in Lightroom and may not have to bring it into Photoshop. If you never leave raw you’ll be limited in how precise your masks can be, not to mention you can’t do compositing in LR. But maybe you don’t need to, it would save you lots of time!
Does anyone recognize the watch that he's wearing? To me they kinda look like Kronaby Apex because of the bracelet and the lugs. However Apex does not have the crown guards and the second hand on the dial. So either he's wearing some sort of prototype from Kronaby or something else. So The question, does anybody know what watches he's wearing?
If anyone has a good grasp on photoshop, please help me, I used to have it setup to where the adjustment window would come up everytime I opened a new picture and I could just edit it quick and I had to redownload photoshop and I don’t remember how I did it
Hi did you calibrate the imac display with a calibrator like spyder x or xrite i1? and one last question where do you have the brightness level set at ? i have it in the middle but photos are still looking a bit dark on other systems i think
You’re totally right! The way I usually do it is to hold alt when I create layer or mask, but for the tutorial it was a way to introduce users to the concept of foreground and background colors.
This might be a rad off topic? but found you on here and really enjoyed your videos on FCP. Also liked how you got the value of the new imac vs bemoaning the fact it did not come in darth vader colors.:). My question have you tried Affinity photo or their other products? I have to say I have used Adobe for like 20 years (right out of school) and I have blown really impressed with this suite of software. The UI is incredibly smooth and the tools they lack compared to ps and Illustrator there are other ays of doing it. Anyways just curious if you happen to read this.
Can anyone help when I use the healing brush tool I can’t figure out how to choose the starting point. It keeps going straight to her face. So how did he pick that part to clone on her leg ?
OMGEEEZE! Before I can even begin watching this video, I am going GAGA over your Gold-faced monitor!! Oh Man, I'm Jealous!!!! How Totally Awesome and Totally Tops!@!!😍🤩🙃🤪🤣😂🙂💫💯💛😏

What font do you use Tyler? It’s brilliant and I’d love to try it.

Always fun to watch how others use Photoshop - thanks for this tutorial! Question: Why not open the file from ACR into Ps as a Smart Object?
Thank you so much for the Tutorial 🙏🙏
Hey Tyler,
The best pictures are from Portugal 😁
Portugal não falha
I want to ask you, which application do you use for editing?

These are some great suggestions!
is there a way to create a catalog for photoshop where all the images are living like how light room has it with Lightroom catalogs?

Hi could you please tell me when we have to do resizing and resolution before starting editing or after editing or in the middle of your work?
I didn’t find this beginner friendly but great job
What software are you using I'm looking forward to start my Photoshop ?
If anyone has a good grasp on photoshop, please help me, I used to have it setup to where the adjustment window would come up everytime I opened a new picture and I could just edit it quick and I had to redownload photoshop and I don’t remember how I did it

This was good for us.
Pretty bloody awesome!
How do you get that Editing app? Or what’s it called
Hi did you calibrate the imac display with a calibrator like spyder x or xrite i1? and one last question where do you have the brightness level set at ? i have it in the middle but photos are still looking a bit dark on other systems i think
Where can I take classes to learn more?
🙏🏻
excuse me, which computer are you using? 😅
The faster way to fill the mask with black is just to Command I to invert the original white color in the mask
You’re totally right! The way I usually do it is to hold alt when I create layer or mask, but for the tutorial it was a way to introduce users to the concept of foreground and background colors.
