i love tabletop and banter games, but its frustrating watching people not listen to the first minute of directions and then spent the next 20 minutes clueless.
You probably should have more villagers in play, for two reasons. 1) It makes it easier for werewolves to lie about who they are, since if you pretend to be something other than villager people will ask you what you did with your powers. 2) It makes it less complicated and easy to get around (although the chaos is fun too, it does kinda lose some of the social deduction aspects of the game.)
Yeah, I agree - usually playing as a villager on that kind of game sucks and almost everytime new players want to swap this role for another, but I think it really important for thats reasons. Because even when you try to "become" Drunk as a werewolf - it always would brind suspicion upon you. And game is already chaotic by it's nature, so I definetly think that Villager is a important role for game to working properly, especially in a new-player environment. And in One Night Werewolf getting villager is not that bad as in other mafia-like games, because games are fast and you don't need to sit 30-40 minutes doing nothing and, if you claimed villager and get vouted off... You could be a tanner instead! Or Hunter. Or anything, who knows! So yeah, villager is an important part of... Well, village. (And if you still want to add some villager-like characters - Insomniac, App. Seer and Curator is a somewhat good picks - first is just simple, but effective villager that could bring more interesting info (you can confirme swap with you etc... And if you became a werewolf through the Night - well, atleast you now know it :) ), App. Seer is just a villager with a liiiitle insight about center card. You are not so powerfull as a main Seer, but still could use that info and it even could teach players to understand value of Seer's "Check 2 center cards" ability, because usually players don't fully appreciate this just check one target player. And Curator is a difficult to playgroup (because he brings in even more chaos) but easy to play character, because after Night he is just a villager and everyone could claim this role. But all that token shenanigans is a mess... And you probably want to take a Shroud one out when playing through TTS :) But this was a good video, I always preffer to see New Players struggle through different games over "High-Competitive-Veteran" environment, so I'll hope that we would see part 2 of ONUW ! :)
@@allypearlman5569 yeah, I at first thought about masons... But they actualy give too MUCH info and you can't claim mason as a werewolf, unless you coop with another werewolf and you are sure that you could over-talk actual masons. So... Yeah, they are good alt-villager, but, again, I think they still can't cover up simplisity of villager role. But I agree, they are good pick too especially because they mitigate some of chaos and could shift game in more "talk confrontation" way.
Omg I love this game so I had to watch, my fave role is most defiantly the doppelgänger, i don’t know why but I find just her the most intriguing for some reason however minion and doppelgänger together can get a little hectic but fun.

I mean.. how can't a group of gamers follow so simple instructions when a bunch of drunk students could do it easily. This really is one of the best social games for drinking evenings :) much better then mafia...
Discord online Play really messes your ability to focus, in a different way than alcohol does, also the game director being automated means he/she can't help the game along through rounds
lol as someone heavily into hobby board games (and the person who usually teaches games to others) it's hilarious to see someone start to look at rules and just go "Nope."
I wish I knew who was talking at any given moment. I dont watch a lot of other people that are playing. Maybe one of those discord overlays small in the corner that lights up when someone is talking? Idk I have this problem whenever NL plays with anyone. It just seems like he plays with so many people.
Very fun game that worked well with derailment perfect nlss game imo hope to see it back again for this brand of chaos hopefully now everybody has rough idea will get even better so thanks for company
This is a lot of fun, but do y’all think you could make your name tags into your actual names? It’s a little hard to follow if I don’t know who everyone is.
NL in last game: I have an announcement. The chat log tells you who else removes their blindfold, so you don't need to wave your mouse pointer you dummies.
How would one make a game in this? Does it require "real" programming? Is it relatively hard or something along the lines of drag n' dropping and adjusting values?
I think besides the animations of voting tokens, this is just an import of the ONW phone app onto a pc platform... and its kind of off in some way I can't describe. Almost like an uncanny valley effect, but of gaming? The resolution has to be prompted by the players, like in real life, and it seems weirdly disjointed from the action of deciding the vote. If they were in person, this disjoint wouldn't feel as awkward.
This is definitely not for me - either know the game, know the platform, or at least pay attention when someone is trying to help you out - not really into watching NL have to put up with this level of ineptitude
I always wanted to buy that version of the Werewolf board game, but seeing this ... no thanks lol. Not because of the content, but because many rules and mechanics seem not fun, like not looking at your card after some of the switches and literally not knowing what you can do now or who you are with.
@@arjan_speelman Yeah, no, switching roles around and you not being able to check your role isnt entertaining at all. The fun in werewolf is to deduct by how other behave and talk. Here its complete madness, half the time you dont even know what team you are on, so how on earth can you even play properly? You dont even know who to play against.
That's the whole reason why the game is good though. You have to be able to lie and change positions. The while fun part is working out what happened during the night. It means that you can lie and say you switched someone's card so they think it is okay to reveal that they were the werewolf. There's tons of tricks like that. There's also a card that lets you check who you are at the end btw. There's so many more layers of secrecy and deduction than in regular werewolf where you just have to accuse the first few people randomly because literally everyone will just claim to be a villager. Plus if you get voted off first in Werewolf you just get to sit around for 20 mins while everyone else has fun so.
@@Bendetoma but you know who you started as. And you can tell if someone else is lying because your own role gives you info. Someone has no reason to lie about swapping your card unless they are a wolf. So as everyone reveals their role, generally the people who contradict you are werewolves. You just have to choose when to give away info to catch them.
The game literally said Jay was *cheating* when he took the blindfold off during werewolf phase, literally the only person unequivocally not a werewolf :(
i feel like this game is a lot harder when it's not in person and you cant hear people moving around you to switch cards and stuff. the banter is always poggy as hell though
Hold on... If your card gets switched you have no idea who you are, and really you don't even know IF your card has been switched so anyone could be anyone by the end of the blind fold section. You also cant trust anyone else who says they're the role that switches or sees cards. This seems a little random or maybe I'm not understanding the rules.
It can be a bit confusing, but it's more confusing before you get much experience, and it's all about deception once you get the hang of it. It just takes some time to get used to.
You can trust some other people because werewolves will have to lie about their roles. And you can use your role to find out who is lying or not. You might realise half way through that you are on a different team, but you can use that same strategy on others if you work out what happened during the night first. So you could lie and say you were the troublemaker and switched two people's cards, so if one might say "oh I was the werewolf but cause you swapped my card it's the other person" and then you can reveal you were lying. At the start of the round no one wants to reveal any info, but it usually splits into two teams as the info is revealed, so by the end you can basically tell what happened.
