My 72-year old sister let her guard down and just got scammed two days ago. First she got a text then it followed up with a phone call. She thought she was talking to a BOA employee in the fraud department. The supposed “BOA employee” conned her into giving him not only her personal information but also her user ID and PW to her online account 😱. After that the call ended abruptly. She then had that sick feeling she’d been scammed. Her bank account got cleaned out in seconds leaving only $32. The fraudster used her information to do a wire transfer to another bank. There’s an investigation but no guarantee she’ll get her money because she gave the information voluntarily. How sad 😢.

Yes it happened to my next door neighbor. My next door neighbor called… the electricity company and they requested a fee to turn off his electricity. The fool gives them his debt card to turn off the electricity. He had to file a claim w the bank!!!
I don't get why he fell for the "Turn OFF the electricity request. WHY would he want his electricity turned OFF? I could understand if he had a power outage and a Scammer told him to give the debit card number to turn ON the electricity, but to turn it OFF, what the FUCK? 😵💫
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT BANKS DON’T CALL YOU…STOP FALLING FOR THE OKEY DOKE…
@mikexcarter594 I know that, but many people out there do not.
If they're the bank, they know who you are. They don't need to ask. Get their name, and say you'll meet them at the branch to sort it out. Which branch? The real bank knows that, too!
Your bank knows all this.
The bank should have put up their own red flags on your girlfriend’s account because who writes checks anymore? Unless your gf is 70+.
It was her business account
Yep, this happened to us, we caught it and contacted our bank with their phone numbers
