literally the best machinedrum video ive ever seen. although i love elektron more than any other gear manufacturer and owened all of the post-octatrack machines, and the specs on the md seem perfect for me, ive maybe come across one other video aside from cenk's walkthrough that impressed me
Wow, thank you so much! Absolutely honoured. I love Cenk's 'Snifftakt' performance and I really like how weird and wonderful shunk's Machinedrum videos get. Just love jamming on this device! Hope you get one soon.
You have a good collection of sounds already - the DT and A4 are a brilliant combo! OT of course is the sampler king, though I could never get into it. That said, the digital machines of the MD would complement those well... :D
Yep, couldn't help myself! Makes it look a little less iconic but it matches my studio a bit more, and means the original Elektron faceplate won't get dinged up. The guy at AUDIO Parasites is really nice as well, had a good chat.
Great Jam again!! Congratulations!!... and some technical questions as I'm trying to figure out how you get to those beautiful and restless parts...are you playing with a ctr al? Or a ctr 8p? Sampling mds audio as well?
Thank you, and thanks for the like! I'm using the FUNC+knob control-all method followed by a kit reload, not the ctrl-all machine. Not sampling the audio either, not tried that yet. :D
I'd love to have the firmware features but I'm too nervous to install unofficial firmware on a $2500 discontinued classic. Afraid something would go wrong and I'd brick it. Definitely need to get a UPS first since I have random power outage once or twice a week here.
Well if it's any comfort, there's no chance you'll brick your MD with the firmware. Worst that could happen is, it won't install at all. Took me about 30 attempts with a dud MIDI hub before I got it working with the official Elektron TM-1 interface. Theres so much fun to be had with the new machines and tuning function etc. But if I had that many power outages, I'd be afraid to turn it on! Hope you have surge protection.
insane video, great stuff. I just got a mkII uw, without the +drive. Can you speak to whether you think that's a necessary upgrade? Does the regular UW have enough memory to work with?
Thank you! Well the +drive adds Snapshots and more capacity. It's useful but not that important. That said, I know a guy who creates and sells +drives, if you feel like upgrading. :)
@@lstlvls2521 yes actually I'd like to make that contact! Is there an email I can reach you at? I'm mostly concerned about whether I'll have issues with resampling a lot... I don't need to put my own samples on but I do want to resample in probably every pattern I make.

@@nicholaswonglikhan I had a Mk1 non-UW for a while. Honestly, you can get out of it about 80% of what the Mk2 UW+ can do, because the synth machines are so incredibly varied. I only tend to use one or two samples per project, and due to the limited memory, you really have to squeeze the most out of each one, but it's super satisfying. I supplemented the Mk1 with a Digitakt and ran the Digitakt audio through the Machinedrum for the crunchiness. It's a great combo and still cheaper than a Mk2 UW+.
Thanks so much! I hadn't thought about Machinedrum tutorials, to be honest there are WAY better MD players than me out there but there aren't many tutorials... Will have a think. :)

I have the pack, just been transfering it to my DTII, great work mate!
Thank so much! It's on my DTII as well. :D
Excellent! Musically and technically. Thanks for sharing
Thank you, that means a heck of a lot to me!
your jams are just top level man, great one!
Thanks so much, that means a lot to me. :)
yass man. thinking of getting the sample pack as i have some serious MD gas rn and already have an OT (and DT and A4..)

just stumbled upon your channel. you are creating some great music! i especially like this track. great stuff! liked and subscribed.
What a lovely thing to say, thank you very much!

Machinedrum without processing?
A little processing - ran through FabFilter Pro-MB, Pro-Q3 and Pro-L. :)
Sick! All sounds from the machinedrum itself, not using ROM/Ram sampling machines?
Cheers! Only one sample on this one - the snare is from the Amen Break which is stored on a ROM machine. :)
@@lstlvls2521 thanks for thr reply! I just bought a SPS-1 but non UW. So i wonder how it goes if i cant use the sampling function
