    welcome back to Partickhill Station.
Today I am building a Catenery kit from ‪@ScaleModelScenerycouk‬ but a with a little twist
I had scratch built a couple of masts baswed on some dimensions I received from ‪@DiggerEvans‬
Congratulations to ‪@ScaleModelScenerycouk‬ for a great kit

@@ModelTrainOutsider Very simple after you fully read the instructions🤣 Pity they don’t sell the masts with the headspans.
For both it’s about£40.00 plus postage.
I will only install a few as I am trying to create the period when they were just transitioning to overhead electrics.
There are eight in the pack

I`ve built there lighting towers from the same material which I don`t think lends itself well to being curved, Some parts I used CA and activator as normal glues took to long to gain the strength to hold, I`ve never built the second one, I went 3D printed they more durable easyier to construct and were a third of the price, Good effort but they can get the blood pressure up.

You've done a good job with those Charlie my friend, and thanks for the shout out, i found them okay to build once i'd got the gist of what i was doing, I have to say SMS make some incredibly well detailed products

I am building similar things to support my lights in my two buildings in my yard

OMG you need the patience of a saint to make these, then you still have to obtain or create the masts and the wire hangers / insulators.(Your masts look great, nice one!) May I suggest looking at Westhill Wagon Works as they are just starting to create a range of complete gantries inc the 'knitting' which is all magnetic and designed to use with the PECO overhead wires. No idea of cost though, but cannot imagine its cheap especially with postage to USA. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks John, as I said I had made a guess at the masts and had intended continuing with the headspans using Plastikard and had purchased all the structural sections I would require. I will certainly have a look at WestHill. Thanks so much for commenting

I didn't realise how fine and complex it is Charlie.

Yes Andy, it is very fine. Once you realize that it goes pretty easily. I was gussinging background for the and using my engineering background for the size of the masts🤣

Catenary looks great! The issue I had with it was track access becomes really difficult for fixing derailments, track cleaning etc. My Triang EM2 is now sitting in a display shelf above my desk. Wishing you well with it Charlie, regards, Tom.

@@OOElectronics Thanks Tom, I gave no plan to electrify the layout, only to suggest that time in the 1960’s when the lines were installed around Glasgow.
I learned quite a bit building this and it does pay to read the instructions fully. After building it I realised the connecting pieces should have been glued in place prior to folding. This makes for an easier and stronger build. They really have thought it all through.
As I said,I thought I might scratch build the whole thing and I have the material to do so. I will now try to modify the masts I built; tgey need a little more height so I will add more to the vase plates suggesting a concrete footing and add a cap plate to the top so the “plate” from the heads pan has something to attach to.
I have a short video to add explaining how, had I fully read the instructions the build would have been quicker to complete.
Hope this finds you well. A big show in Belfast, are you planning on attending?
      Regards
      Charlie

@@charlie1872 Interesting to follow your progress on this. I'll not be going to Belfast, don't venture much beyond Glasgow these days! Regards, Tom
