Ah!!! I agree! You’ve mentioned a number of things that other reviews miss (or obscure???). Shotgun mics need to be close to your mouth in order to avoid ambient noise. Sure the Fulaim X5 is omni-directional but because it’s close to your mouth it does better than a shotgun on the camera.
Also, you clarify that many other wireless lavs cannot cope with a phone case. How often is this totally ignored by other reviewers?
I have had my X5 for about a week now and I love it. It also does a great job even if it’s attached to the inside of my T shirt, held by the magnet on the outside. I don’t use the built in noise reduction but apply that in post (using my LumaFusion Voice isolation facility which is adjustable).
I have to say that my $20 wired lav, PurplePanda, actually produces a better sound, but I hate wires haha!!! All the reviews I’ve seen compares the X5 positively wrt the Rode Wireless Go2 and the DJI wireless lav at more than twice the price.

I use insta360 flow, you can put the rx in the shoe of insta360 - connected per usb c/lightening kabel - it works.
