I have a feeling the HD footage is from the despecialized editions. It seems to match the original theatrical color timing, not the THX version that got ported for the unaltered dvd versions or the 2004/11 versions with their horrible color timing. I would have left the Star Wars to Jedi footage alone since that was a tv special on video, thus it can't be turned into HD.
It's cool how when he made the original, he was a young rookie going up against corporate Hollywood like Luke against the Empire, then when making the prequels he became "the very thing he swore to destroy." Still the best producer to ever live, even if he's a bad writer and less-than-competent director
The HD footage looks kinda washed out and green tinted in some areas. I know that's to match the original look of the films but the THX color correction in the mid 90's just seems more natural to me.
Wow, John, great job. I always loved the tapes. Does anybody know who is doing the voice over for this promo? I've heard the voice before, I'm just trying to put a name to the voice, thank you.
Imagine if these Remastered / Special Edition versions of Original Trilogy were actually shown in 1977, 1980 & 1983 in theaters it would not only be just Blockbusters and hack more revenues, but it'll be COLOSSAL ALL TIME History Record like Avengers. 💹
@@coleschubert9868 Not to mention making Luke scream in The Empire Strikes Back when he was actually committing suicide. Adding the scream makes him act like he just slipped and fall. And it's freaking Palpatine's death scream from Return of the Jedi, for Christ sake! Thankfully, George removed it in later releases.
Excilent recreation! Glad you used the despecialized trilogy footage and not the special editions.
wow HD and widescreen, reminds me of the despecialized editions, good job
He used the despecialized edition.

Knightmessenger look it up some one already did
This is so great to see this restored.
I remember this on my ROTJ tape, but never saw the bit about the documentary. Weird. Kinda miss it since moving to DVD. Great job re-editing it!
2:12 I can never get enough of that part.
"Climactic clash between good... and *evil* "
So epic!
I never noticed this when I was a kid, but Han is absent from the Return of the Jedi trailer, what a neat little detail.
They really should have left out 3:02.
3:30 Lucas should have remembered this when he made the prequels
+matt hagerty Yeah, he went against his own philosophy.
Chad Ryan he's actually telling a story, a bad story but a story nonetheless.
And he really thinks it's good.

Still better than the new movies without him.
I remember watching this when I was 3 or 4 years old. Now, I am 22. Memories!
I watched Original in 1977, when I was 4 years old back then lol
Fantastic job mate the force is with you
I miss them

But this year is 1993.
It's in widescreen

You forgot CBS FOX video logo

Avengers.
hi there, are you converting VHS to HD? or do you have film scans?
ParsianTV he took Despecialized footage and mixed it in with vhs audio
0:47 and 1:24 Why leave special effects shots from the original and not replace them with the Special Edition or 2011 Blu-Ray versions?
Because the Special Edition is horrible.
+ChrisIsONLINE They're not THAT bad!
PokeJediTrek because the 1990 version is based on the original version
Ben Waldburger some changes are awful and ruin the films like Vader screaming no at the end of return of the Jedi

Is not a restoration.. is fake !
Matteo Webstor of course it is
NOPE
Why it fake?
I just found the THX remastered of these minus Jedi in my Dad's archives (on VHS)
