Nathan p butler has amazing content on the original trilogy movies and their history and interesting video I also had most of the special edition videos as a kid on vhs and the 1995 version of the original trilogy from here in Australia and love despecialized editions by harmy and 4K77 and 4K83
I have the ISD set myself, it’s so good like really it’s so damn good. The other set that ended up being UK exclusive PAL only was the releases from 1994 which were known as the “digitally mastered“ versions, these came in both Pan and scan/standard as well as widescreen. I’ve been collecting Star Wars home video releases since around 2017 on and off. I still think Japan has some of the best releases, one of my favourite releases actually outside of the collectors white box for laserdisc is probably the 2019/2020 4K release, it’s basically like if the western release 4K set had a baby with the PAL release Blu-ray and they are book was its own thing.
I think the best option regarding all the original S.W films would be to do seamless branching on each different FX release from the original version until George's over indulgence cuts ended 😂 but hey were dealing with Disney so ain't gonna happen with those f_ck the fans ( quadruple dip ) money grabbers 😮 Great video, Keep up the good work Nick 😊🎉
I have the ISD, I am yet to make a transfer of them. I got it for like 13 GBP, 4th tape is still sealed, other tapes have the shrinkwrap opeed at the bottom and the books are still in the opened shrinkwrap, it also has a relatively low number.
I would encourage you to get the book by Michael Kaminski 'the secret history of star wars' which will detial you all you need about how the series from its first conception to the 'Clone Wars' TV show how it really REALLY got made. all the best and I hope that's useful
Yeah, I'm NOT great about keeping up with reading books. I just don't even have the time to read comics and trade paperbacks I bought five months ago, let alone a big thick book like that. Not sure if I'll get through the Art of Star Wars books I have for the Special Edition Trilogy episode. I need like a week off to prep for that or something.
@@ravensfilm haha thats ok. At the very least theres a podcast interview with Michael Kaminski by 'Starwars report' thats worth a listen to. Its only an hour and 7 minutes long, so you should be able to get through it. I'd recomend to get the book any way, just so you have it for any future referance or re search. all the best mate
Honestly, I already cut a bunch of other formats from this video because I couldn't find any source footage or relevant material to edit into the video. Delving into Super 8 and 16mm releases just seem unlikely. Appealing, maybe, but I'd have to scour deeply into the internet to find someone that's gotten high res scans done of them that I can use and review for the episode.

I would still rather watch the original cinematic versions than the cgi crap. Japanese laser disc versions are the best way of watching them👍

Thanks! It wasn’t easy putting it together, so, I’m glad it’s gone over well.

Need to talk Super 8 and 16mm at some point.

the special editions are only the ones released in 97
Yes, they are. That’s the next video.
I don't mind them enhancing the look of the lightsabers, but when they add all the CGI 💩 like Jabba is when I 🙄
