I have done a bunch of cake decorating courses, have pretty much every cake book ever written, and have had my own cupcake business for the past 5-6 years so while I'm not a pastry chef or anything, I do love baking and have made my living out of it for quite a while now. Glad you like the videos! xx Elise
I know this is an older tutorial but I just found it and love the idea of using different candies to make decorations. I try to do this as well as I know people don't like to eat most decorations when they are fondant or even RKT. Thanks so much for this tutorial!!
Aweseom Anna Brown - I hope your guests like them! I'm sure they will :) You can also replace the liquorice with tootsie rolls if you have access to them where you live :)
I am trying to steer more towards regular candy ingredients, rather than the harder to find and country specific ones. That way everyone can make these awesome creations! Glad you like them xx
Thanks! I am trying to steer more towards regular candy ingredients, rather than the harder to find and country specific ones. That way everyone can make these awesome creations! Glad you like them xx
Instead of the fruit chews u can also use starburst they are easier to work with but I don't know if in Australia u get those but just a tip for any one else who access to starbusrts
Thankyou! That's exactly what I hope to achieve with this channel! ANYONE can make awesome cupcakes and cakes, not just the 'professionals' - Glad your enjoying the videos so far - LOTS more to come xxx

Lol - I actually did a whole tutorial on that style of icing as a few others said the same thing - glad I got you hooked and gave you a new idea! xx Elise
Hey! Its just regular dark chocolate, I use compound cooking chocolate or chocolate melts (Nestle usually) I microwave for 30 seconds at a time on medium heat, stirring briefly in between until its melted. Mine usually takes about 1.5 minutes to melt properly :)
Yes, you can use black fondant or black modelling chocolate (make dark modelling chocolate and add black colour paste) These are really the only options I can think of for a black option so hopefully you will be able to get fondant where you are :)
I have a handbag, stiletto high heel shoe, little bows and these makeup ones so far on my channel with lots more to come :) Make sure you're subscribed to see more!
Thanks! SOme of my videos do take a while, and I talk a lot because theres a lot that needs to be said to tell you how to make the cakes! This tutorial in particular is 3 different cupcakes, so a lot longer than if I were to just do three separate cupcakes with one cupcake in each video :) Glad you like them anyway though!
You could! I thought I better stop with the details when the tutorial went over 15 minutes though - but you could definitely logo the nail polish and mascara with some melted white chocolate!
I melt it then work quickly before it sets again..sometimes i have to re-melt the chocolate a number of times. I hope this answers your question. Elise
Agreed - thanks for the tip @BLTwitch Hey, If you love our tutorials, and haven't already, would you be able to pop over and vote for us in the On The Rise comp? Voting closes TODAY and it's a super close race - we need every vote we can get - the link to vote is in the description box for this vid and it literally takes 5 seconds. I'd be very grateful :) xx Elise
Oohh, try smearing a little amount of the frosting over the top of the 'cut' area and then put it in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden. This should help to keep the crumbs contained :) Glad you liked the tutorial and i'm SO glad you're making them!!
Thanks so much! Positive feedback is always warmly received :) Lots more to come so will definitely be keeping up the good work xx If you want to email, go to my website (link on my channel page) and use the 'contact us' section. UA-cam won't let me post email addresses in the comments field :(
Hi Karen, the caramel is just caramel fudge - it is in a firm square that changes shape when you push it. I got both of mine from the confectionary (candy) aisle of my local supermarket. The caramel was from a shop called Big W and the brand is "Granny Macs Fudge" and the liquorice is a soft eating liquorice from Woolworths called "Darry Lea soft eating liquorice" :)
Yay @LucyPeace2222 - glad they worked out for you! I always love to hear my videos have helped you to successfully re-create these at home! You can make the little cosmetics a week or so ahead, just store them in an airtight container. I would make the mascara brush the day before though, as the pretzel sticks can go a bit soft and you don't want a bent mascara brush :) Cupcakes dry out pretty fast though, so these I would make no earlier than the day before you need them :)
For double the colour :) Hey, If you love our tutorials, and haven't already, would you be able to pop over and vote for us in the On The Rise comp? I remember this being the first video I’ve ever seen by you. I immediately loved the pink nail polish. I always tried picturing you as a person and I expected you to be about 20-30 years old, with long, very straight, and super blonde hair 😂😂 I wasn’t too off. Your videos have come a long way and I’ve been here to see all of he changes!!
Hi @bell1015 - its soft caramel fudge - you could also use fondant but fudge is so much yummier :) Glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Hi Martha - I have them written in english in the description box for this video :) You might need to translate them though, as I don't speak spanish :)
it may work, however the licorice does look quite similar to the types of plastics used in makeup...however i would be interested to hear about how yours turns out! ;-) Elise

Hi Lauren - Sure - a Starburst would work, or Laffy Taffy or even fondant or modelling chocolate :) And my nail colour is OPI Mod About You, just in case you were wondering and I'm Australian! Glad you like the accent, it's pretty standard and boring where I am but I always love to hear exotic accents form all around the world! xx Elise

They are mini Oreos - most places should have them, but if not you could use some fondant or modelling chocolate, and just make the compact halves the day before you want to join them so there is enough time fir them to dry a bit before you try to stick them together ;)
Hi! No, I dont use tempered chocolate in any of my videos - it adds a whole other element of explaining and theres really no need. Just regular compound or cooking chocolate - usually Nestle :)

Hmm - I hadn't thought to but I'm sure I could. I'll add it to my "ideas list" and see what I can come up with :)
It sure does! And it on top of a cupcake - whats not to love about this combination! xx
It would! I'd love to see a video response of makeup cupcake, being eaten by girls wearing makeup, at a party selling makeup! Super cute!
I've seen those but they don't sell them all the time here- feel free to use them though - definitely easier! xx
They will be so impressed! I can feel a promotion coming on! lol
Great Idea! Little scissors would be so cute! Glad you like them - you will definitely have some good uses for these over the next few years :)
