You’ve got the patience of saint 😅😅 And damn fine commentating! - This has come up a lot recently and your vid kinda crystallized a thought: I think in general people need to leave more space. Everyone - unless one has the exact same ping as every single other car they are near it’s almost impossible to avoid collisions (when pushing). I’d go as far to say any time there is no contact I’d argue is more up to chance than skill. As a rule of thumb at speed 80ping is 1 car length or 4.5m, that means even 20 ping is still more than a meter and we all (it’s so hard not to) want to use that meter. (Btw It’s the difference in ping that matters so one driver with 20 and the other with 40 - both great connections, still have 1-1.5 meters discrepancy’s between their perception of where they are on track. Enough to just clip someone by accident) The game looks soooo good and feels so real that we forget all the other cars are from around the world it’s easy to fall for the illusion but the limitations of physics are still there -. It’s just a meter or two though - if we all left that, things would go a lot smoother - Cheers man, awesome vids!
Really good points. I think sometimes I subconsciously do leave extra space for ping, particularly in iRacing where it’s a lot more of an issue than in the other sims (for me, at least). I always used to race very cautiously to try and protect myself from any contact, but lately I’ve been trying to race a bit harder and closer with people. It’s not working 🤣
When a ghost car teleports backwards 100m to quickly punt you out before instantly jetting back to the future, you know it’s not your day! Like we always say, making a video of the catastrophe is the only consolation we can get on these occasions!
I've pretty much given up with online racing nowadays. I just don't have the time, like yourself, to be bombed out every time I'm on track. You're a bigger man than I am Chris. I'd have jacked it in and put the coffee pot on 😅 Yeah, I've dialled in the A.I. settings on iRacing to match my pace and aggression and I have some amazing races with 30-40 cars all within a second of each other. It's worth doing. People have said I'm crazy to pay for an offline service in iRacing but is it that crazy? I'm having 2-4 close races per week and really enjoying my racing again. Tough luck though Chris. Better luck next week and great content as always matey 😊
Nothing wrong with going down the AI route, it means you’re much more likely to have an enjoyable experience that won’t be ended early. I used to really like the F1 games for that, the AI racing was always top notch. Actually been thinking about getting it again, for those times when online racing frustration gets a bit much.
That ping issue is extremely annoying. I usually drive at 8 pm central in the us server and there’s always someone having ping issues teleporting around me
I can’t remember ever seeing a ping issue like this on ACC before. It’s a regular occurrence on iRacing, there’s always a car bouncing and blinking somewhere. But this was quite rare for me in ACC… and pretty much summed up my luck. Shame it’s a bigger issue over your side of the pond… no bigger immersion-killer than ping problems. Really frustrating.
I got out of Rookies yesterday into bronze and in the 2 races I did in bronze, I saw more dirty racers then 12 races since starting lfm and rookie rank. Very frustrating when you try your hardest to dodge people or lose positions to play safe but people just dont care and ram you and you are the one penalised for it. Its frustrating.
I feel your pain. It’s usually the people who cause it who seem to get away with it too. Like the driver who caused the big wreck in race 2… so careless to drive into the back of two cars in front, but he just keeps it flat out the entire time, drives straight through us, and goes on to finish in the top 10. No justice 🤣
Yeah definitely. I’m quite pleased it’s the end of the season. There’s a two-week break now, so I’ll be refreshed and a bit more enthusiastic by the time a week 1 of the new season rolls around.
Today I had a bad day, some guys crashed on me and sometimes I crashed on other drivers, yeh it is difficult but let´s agree we always talk about how we wish people to join our world and race together and whatnot, then people join and we get mad, honestly speaking how many of us did not have a bad day? how many of us did not rear end someone that braked a bit too early? I guess we should all cool down and go to the next race.
Yeah, I bear no grudges against anyone in the races. Like you say, we’ve all done it. I just couldn’t believe how much bad luck you can get in one go. When a car teleports back 100m to punt you off, then promptly returns to the future, you know it’s not your day 🤣
Thank you John, yeah the pace really improved during my lonely race 1 run. Definitely would have challenged for the top five if I’d survived the first few turns, so plenty to be positive about. Cheers mate 😃
Bit of advice for you looking at your tyres. Stay in the setup screen on your tyre page right until the 25 seconds. This will keep the tyres warmer and make the car alittle bit less slippy for when the lights go green. I've took some time out of LFM at the minute as it's recently bad an influx of drivers that are lacking race craft and don't seem to have any concept of overtaking.
Ahh thanks, someone mentioned that to me ages ago and I’d completely forgotten it! I’ll definitely do that. I always click ‘Drive’ with 30secs to go, so I’m sat there on the grid all that time. Yeah it wasn’t fun today… hopefully the new season will bring some more luck!
@@chrisrogerssimracing your tire temps start falling the moment you leave the setup screen. So if you adjust your fuel then leave the setup screen with a minute left that’s a full minute of the tires getting cold before you start.
@@ryanvalentine4151 Oh wow, I didn’t realise it was like that! I usually do my fuel while qualifying is still finishing, so I’ve been letting them cool down for the maximum time there is 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks for letting me know, I’ll definitely hang around in setup next season 👍
I was doing few races with these people, we had to miss eachother. Generally when I am in the lower splits, it's safier - people are so slow that you can quickly just run. But because newcomers start with 1500 elo, their first 10 races are progresively putting them in lower splits, and in the process - they ruin a lot of long-term medicore (like me) players who sit in the middle splits. I was earning some elo and then throwing it in spa like a gambler, so I always end up in the mid-bottom split. Actually today I witnessed a moment where I passed a mclaren (he had setup issues - we later talked a bit because we had an incident) - his pace was quite good, but low elo legends with few races felt the blood after our fight and just wrecked him in the next turn. After the race we agreed that those people should start with at most 800 elo, or even lower - if you are good, it's just a matter of few races to reach ~1000 and end up in the higher split. And don't even start me with the low experienced players trying to win a race in the first turn with their cold tires x_x
That’s a really good point. 1500 is a very high rating to start a newbie on. I think it’s similar in iRacing too. I’m fairly experienced now, but I can’t get near a 1500 rating after 2 years. I don’t really race LFM enough to worry about ELO or what split I’m in, as long as the racing is fun. Usually, it is. Today, it wasn’t! 🤣
Yes, I don’t know why they start people at 1500, it makes no sense to me. My iRacing is back up to 1300 now after a year but it tanked at he start, quite rightly. And I have hated my first few ACC races on LFM precisely because I’m at too high an ELO and am racing against much faster people.
It was definitely a lively grid Bill! My line near the end summed it up perfectly… I felt like a punchbag! I’d like to think I’m due some good luck in upcoming races now!

Funnily enough, I said exactly the same yesterday. No matter what the car or sim, Imola always seems to end in a massive disaster. Must be the narrow track and tight corners that bring out the impatience in drivers.
No live stewarding, but LFM does have a very good reporting system. Not only do they hand out punishments, but they explain why and offer advice to the driver over how to do things differently. It’s really good. Either the Merc or I probably need to report the Porsche!
Most of these problems are caused by inexperienced people, it can't be that in the first chicane at the start you step on the brake, it's not that you are driving faster, it's that the slower driver doesn't know the track.
Damn Chris, some of those guys have 0 regard for other drivers! Very unfortunate that you were constantly on the receiving end of it, mate. Best thing about a shit day of sim racing is that the next can only get better! Onwards!
