@secretlyadragon4723 Two things. First, just because something has poor audience reviews doesn't automatically mean it will fail to find an audience. this is very similar to giving a friend a gift that YOU like, not what your friend likes. Imagine you friend loves Star Wars but you love Twilight and you decide to gift them a Twilight T shirt. Do you think that person would enjoy it?
How do win over the fans, make a show with likable characters, have them flawed but with good intentions, have them struggle to grow into themselves and their powers, have a huge and believable lightsaber fight, the hero can even lose and be saved by their master who shows more power than their padawan, maybe the master sacrifices themselves to save them. Boom you win.
Oh please, the show was just bad in every aspect. The lesbian witches were in it for like 2 minutes then they were killed off. If the two leads had a straight couple as parents, the show would have failed just as much. But now people can complain on the woke side that they canceled it because of homophobia. Which is ridicolous.
So the creators of rhe acolyte thought star wars was sexist and racist because.... reasons so they made their own that was ACTUALLY racist and sexist, then called the fans racist and sexist for calling out their bs. How did they not expect this to get cancelled?

About 07:45 _"They canceled 'The Acolyte' because they can't stand two hot people of colour holding hands."_ Total BS. Critics who are demonised as "far right" don't mind 'Star Trek: TOS' having not only a female black officer but also her kissing with the captain.

I've seen people blame racism for Star Trek fans hating their new slop too, which is rich because classic Star Trek has made history for its diversity. The original series was massively controversial because it had a black woman as a competent and respected officer, MLK Jr was a huge fan! Voyager has a female captain, a Native American first officer, a Latina chief engineer, a black Vulcan, and a Korean ensign. And guess what? WE LOVE IT
Anyone who watches UA-cam knows the audience is key to being successful. To completely talk shit about your audience and straying away from content your audience likes is a recipe for a downward spiral
I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but I actually really like your end message with the last ''bye'' on the end. I love the bye. Thank you for making, I enjoy your videos.
When the message becomes the focal point of the story it overshadows the actual content. The problem with Disney is they’re trying to force the audience on thinking a certain way through a propaganda type of narratives. If you ask most people they want diversity in races, backgrounds, gender, and sexual orientations. However, it must be done organically where it’s built around the actual narrative, not the other way around. When it feels forced and unnatural you’re going to get pushback from your audience.
Honestly, they didn't even go for it though. If Osha and Jecki were actually gay lovers, and then she got full of dark side rage when her lover was killed, that actually might of been interesting. I mean the witches 'might' of been gay but it was entirely in the background and didn't effect anything at all.
Agreed. I like the way My Adventures with Superman does it. There's gay people, but it's not a super focus, nor do they draw extra attention to it. I'm not a supporter of the woke agenda, but THAT'S the way to make it work. Clark is kind of a simp, but he always was. Lois is a girlboss, but she always was (at least from the 90s cartoon). Plus, her background story makes her toughness make sense.
There was actually *four* characters in The Acolyte that we all recognize apart from the one you mentioned. All the other three were shoehorn-ish cameos, the first of which came across as a retcon: Ki-Adi-Mundi, Yoda, and Darth Plageius.
Me and a friend of mine at work yesterday were talking about how gen Z grew up when Disney was in a great spot. Great shows, fantastic movies, and it was fun to turn on the TV and watch Disney’s stuff because it was always entertaining. I wish I could go back to those days, Disney’s become the opposite of what they were before.
Didn't Leslye Headland come out and say that she didn't want people to like her show ? 🤔 So whats the point of wasting $180 Mill on a show no one is going to pay to watch?
Excuse me but didn't Disney have a female "Star Wars" star that the fans liked, Gina Carano, & they fired her? If I remember the reporting, she had a popular "Star Wars" series, "The Mandalorian", & Disney begged her to return. Carano wound up suing Disney & how is that law suit going?
"What happened? I sensed a great disturbance in the force, and suddenly millions of voices cried out in relief". "yes you did, Star Wars fans. Yes, you did." -- Hishe, Phantom Menace.
I was actually surprised because this isn't the first time a show has underperformed and Disney has since continued making content like this, so it wasn't obvious to me that they would change their plans for a Season 2.
The moment Mae approached Trinity at that bar, with "Attack me, with all your strength" I knew it was over for that show. I turned it off and never came back to it.
@@TheChampCave Learned their lesson? No! Disney at this point is like a bratty child that has fallen into a cult. Disney will NEVER learn their lesson. I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a little kid in the 80s. I have never experience any negativity in the fandom until Disney took over the franchise. They are the bully they are complaining about. (Disney, the call is coming from inside the house)
Most people hated the prequels and thought they were awful. George Lucas butchered them, and because of the backlash she decided to sell Star wars. Ironically most of this could have been avoided had he just listened to some of his other writers.
@@MrHanderson91 When I referred to "negativity' I wasn't referring the quality of the films. I was referring to the discourse around the films and the fandom. The likelihood of being attacked based on an opinion about a fictional universe went up when Disney started customizing Star Wars content to checking boxes instead of focusing story lines. The supposed 'toxic fandom' was something fostered by Disney's choices within Star Wars as an IP rather something that existed organically since the original trilogy.

I went to the 25th anniversary re-release of The Phantom Menace back in April. It was so good to see that wonderful movie on the big screen again. Me and my friend stayed in our seats as the credits rolled to completion, basking in the glory of John Williams' excellent soundtrack. As soon as the credits were done, they started playing a teaser for The Acolyte, at which point me and my friend promptly left the theater because we knew better than to give Disney+ an ounce of interest or attention. I have no regrets.
As someone that owns a High Republic era book (Defy the Storm by Tessa Gratton & Justina Ireland), I don't think the High Republic era is bad. And once again, theres a difference between having a show with gay characters, about gay characters, and about characters being gay. If they ever want to do a show like this again, just have a show with a good plot. Have the main feature of the show BE the plot. Then have gay characters in the show, but don't make the show about them being gay. You can easily have the main character be gay, just DO NOT make it about them being gay. Real gays (not the marketed ones) generally want to be treated the same as everyone else, not as a circus attraction.
The show was definitely not about anyone being gay. The main character is a straight woman who was into the main male villain, and it was actually kind of creepy and poorly established. this is very similar to giving a friend a gift that YOU like, not what your friend likes.
So the hero's journey? 😂

A show about lesbian space witches was bound to fail.

The Acolyte not going to inspire millions of people to create their own stormtrooper outfits, lightsabers, style their hair, or build remote control R2-D2s. These are not the droids you're looking for.

Total BS. Critics who are demonised as "far right" don't mind 'Star Trek: TOS' having not only a female black officer but also her kissing with the captain.

He does.
Or not, because now the Prequels look masterpieces compare to this piece of ****. XD
Don't forget Lucas is a sellout just like Metallica...
I mean, at the very least, he's proved Star Wars' underlying message to be true with selling it off to Disney and having Kathleen Kennedy take it on.

It’s such a slap in the face for them to continue to blame racism on all fans when it’s just terrible writing and bad acting.
WE LOVE IT
It’s a cheap way to not admit to their own faults
Projecting. Both sides project their own shortcomings upon their opponents. But more so the left on the right.
If Disney doesn't start learning from its mistakes soon it's going to go out of business.
Anyone who watches UA-cam knows the audience is key to being successful. To completely talk shit about your audience and straying away from content your audience likes is a recipe for a downward spiral
My brain at 2:37 in the video
'YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THE SITH, NOT JOIN THEM!!!!!!!''
The crazy people at Disney have not learned anything. I don’t think they care if the company goes broke.
Writing was subpar and the acting was c tier. The show had no feelings, no soul. I felt no connection to any of the characters ,I felt nothing.

Idk what happened with Disney, but its absolutely pathetic, how they do this with every single show.
Its fine to have diversity here and there, but what they are doing is feeding people with that stuff, acting like not being gay isnt normal anymore.

Now the shill "journalists" are gaslighting Star Wars fans that "fans" are angry at Lucasfilm for cancelling this stunning and brave (sh*t) show.
I'm telling you. All daily wire editors are made of gold. These edits are so funny😂.
As someone that owns a High Republic era book (Defy the Storm by Tessa Gratton & Justina Ireland), I don't think the High Republic era is bad. I personally think, if given a better writer who actually cared about what Star Wars fans want, a High Republic era themed TV show could be fun.
But now here we are, getting blamed for something that for once wasn't our fault. I simply didn't watched the Acolyte on Disney+ and just watched it through the reviews by fellow Star Wars UA-camr, Star Wars Explained.
The Acolyte got canceled? Ermahgerd i am shocketh
They also just canceled a new theme park land that was “definitely coming”. It was supposed to take over Tom Sayer Island in Magic Kigndom, and people were so mad and the backlash was so great that Disney decided against it

Honestly the only gay thing in the entire show is that it is sort of implied the all female coven of witches might be slightly gay. That was it.
@@Lilitha11Thats somehow worse. Every single thing I've heard advertised about this show can be summed up as: "THIS SHIT IS GAY YA'LL COME WATCH". You are the first and only person to tell me that isn't what its about.
