    Don't complain.
    Don't complain.
    Don't complain.
    Whenever I even hint at a complaint to my husband, he says to me "remember that last paycheck?" LOL. I know there's a difference between getting worked and unsafe. I'm totally on-board with you about knowing the culture and being accommodating and NOT complaining!!
    I work with a travel nurse who says "I'm getting paid for this" EVERY time things get a little uncomfortable 🙂 I agree. There's a reason they need you and you're getting paid-- just do the damn thing as long as it's safe and within your scope! Thanks for the video Grey Hoddie!! Beautiful skin BTW

    I love all of your VDOs. Very informative 👏. I want you to give some tips about computer charting. How do you learn different charting systems? I only know Cerner and I think a lot of hospitals use Epic or Meditech. As a new traveler, do you recommend us choosing only the computer system that we are familiar?

      My best advice that I tell everyone - just start on night shift. Although Night Shift is sometimes a busy we do have a lot more downtime than dayshift and if you’re learning a new charting system then start on Night Shift so that you can really familiarize with yourself with it. The reason why I recommend Night Shift is because there’s not so many orders that are time sensitive that are coming in so it is not as much pressure and there is less of a possibility that you will miss something. But to be honest for me personally, it just took some getting used to. Although I have worked on all types of charting systems the concepts are pretty much the same and you know what you should be looking for. I always ask where the orders are, where do I go to acknowledge the orders, and other things that I kno that I need to be looking for. So it’s just a matter of figuring out where things are.

      Thanks for this question and I’m glad she answered because I am planning to travel next month and I use cerner as well. I wonder if there is somewhere online where I can learn epic before I start a new job.

    Hi 👋 I just started looking into traveling
    nurse contracts, I already have the experience in Medsurg Neuro/Tele but my reluctance to make the jump is my hospital didn't equip me to skill up on my IV start and blood draw skills. Is it going to be an issue if I start travel nursing with poor skill in IV starts? Or do I take the plunge and learn along the way?

    • @beebeeberlucern2464
      @beebeeberlucern2464  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there’
      It’s only gonna be an issue if the hospital that you go to experts that you start your own IVs. Luckily for you most hospitals policy nowadays say that as long as the patient has a working IV don’t have to change it out every few days. Also some hospitals have an IV team that you can call for assistance if you are unable to get an IV. As far as drying blood, most hospitals do not require you to draw blood. They have phlebotomist. I will just be honest with your recruiter and do your due diligence to make sure that the expectations on your unit are that that you can uphold
