What a throwback video. It's been so long since I've seen you look like this. Mikey. When relearning how to crochet you were one of the first people that I came across on UA-cam. Thank you thank you thank you
thank you for the excellent explanation of filet crochet. I have had such a awfully hard time getting simple info on how to do this and your simplicity is refreshing! thanks again!!!
Was looking for instructions to try to make a piece of lace to cover a mar on my daughter's new table and look who i found!!! Is this the first video? Gosh i have been watching you for years and what a fun surprise to find an early video
I love to watch you and learn. You think of all of us a beginners also you teach to all of our needs. Thank you. Look forward to watching all of your videos.
I Love this video I got it!!! but my question is where can I get the filet crochet graphic so I can make my own name or either other design can you please help me?? THANKS!!!!!
We actually have a piece that was filet crocheted. I never realised it was crochet until I was told so the other day and I took a closer look at it. Indeed, I could see the treble (or double, for you US folks) crochets and chains. It was filet crochet and I didn't realise because I had only ever seen it from afar - the stitches were tiny. I worked out how to do it myself from that, but nice to finally know what it's called. It was made by my grandmother - she used a spacing of two stitches between the bars, though. (So the length would be #squares * 3 + 1 instead of #squares * 4 + 1)
the 2nd link you are clicking on was for Mikey's old website and is no longer available...I removed the link ....sorry for the confusion Cathy @ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)
I like to start a birthday project for my son on crochet letter wordings... I really need yr guides..my question..can you help me start this project specifically on how many chains to start off?
I prefer a ch 2 between the blocks. For a tighter square. So, if I have 27 blocks for my first row, would I chain 27x4+3+2 Then dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch 2, sk2, dc in next ch and repeat?
I would love to know how to use 2 colors across a row when working filet crochet. I know I don't want to drop one color and later pick it up because it leaves floaters in the back. Also, placing the yarn that you're not currently working with across the top and working it in seems to show through. What is the best method to use for 2 or more colors in a row? Thank you for any suggestions you may offer.
Could you send me the way to make a small pillow cover with the same thread that you are using in this video? With a letter in the center of it. And also if you could a list of the letters both in upper and lower case? I am wanting to make some pillows with a Satan background and then attach the crotched design with the letter in the center. I also want to make a banner with the name to frame and put it on the wall for my new grandbaby once I find out its name and gender. If you could help me out with these I would be so grateful and happy and excited about it. I hope you can understand what I am looking for. Thank you for your instructions and your videos. Have a wonderful day. Laurie W.
Is there a way to change colors without having to carry the 'resting' yarn? Im making a small curtain for my mom's kitchen and the colors i want to use are brown (background) red (chili pepper and letters) and green (stem and border). Also...im left handed....do i still work right to left?
Hey Mikey..l have 120 blocks lengthy, open blocks on foundation. Need your instruction how will l start my foundation chain....?? I like to work on the length side
Mikey helpppp...well to start off your AMAZING... now my son is getting married 8-6-16 and i would love to make a wall hanging i can frame (doesnt have to be big ) 8x10 is great anyways i cant come up with how to do the lettering i want josh -n- irene 8-6-16 can you PLEASE help me make the graph for it like you did above? please please please help if you can thank you again and your the best your the one that taught me how to crochet by the way...
I have done letters on top of crochet, maybe i can help you. obviously if you wanted, you could just do color changing as you go, following a graph. i is WAY easier to just embroider or surface crochet right in top. you should use either single crochet or half double crochet as the surface you want to embroider on because they are the closest to actual squares. my favorite though, is Tunisian simple stitch or Tunisian knit stitch, because the stitches line up perfectly. for the simple stitch, I would cross stitch the pattern, one "x" for each square. if you don't have a graph yet, just do a Google search for either alphabet cross stitch graph, or alphabet pixel art images, and I guarantee you will find what you need. then copy to graph paper. Tunisian knit stitch is my absolute favorite, what I would do is "duplicate stitch" my design. it looks amazing, and you can't even tell that the underneath stitch is even there. because the knit stitch is taller than it is wide, it may be a bit distorted. I've heard people say to double the amount of stitches across, meaning that each block of your pattern will need 2 stitches instead of one.
Champa Gopalakrishna Yes, filet is usually used for making tablecloths. Check out Joanna Stawniak here on UA-cam. She's got a lot of Beautiful tutorials. Hopefully this helps.
I want to make hat with letters of a UA-cam Channel actually just the abbreviation of the name which is UGUE an I don't like how the embroidery lettering I want it to look more professional

I’m not sure. I would have to chart it out sometime to know for sure. Go with your gut instinct.
