Absolutely! Before I moved to Shanghai, I studied Mandarin. And when I got there, I paid a lot to take classes and immerse myself more in the language and culture. Now, I’m level 3 of Mandarin and always studying and practicing it.

I visited Seoul last year and trust me, it shits all over Sydney. Our lockout laws are a joke.
And best of all restaurants/eateries were open until 3/4a.m, so you can have a decent feed after all that partying.

i would love to live in Taiwan for a couple months w/ the purpose of getting to know Taiwan and all its regions and mountain ranges, not just visit family.

Fellow Taiwanese American here! There is a Mandarin language institute at one of the universities open to all adults who want to spend a month or 2 learning about Taiwan and the Mandarin Chinese language. You may want to check it out. Looks like the "love boat" program has ended.

We had our vacation in Seoul in Summer of 2018 and fell in love with the place. We’re supposed to visit again in Summer of 2019, but due to Covid 19 we had to cancel out flight. Wish we could visit again.

Yes, definitely essential for Asian Americans to learn more about their own culture and history, and hopefully pass it down to the next generation. I went to a predominantly Asian populated high school in California but in history class, we did not learn a thing about Asian American history. After taking Asian American studies in college, I finally learned about how Asians played a role in building America. Other than that, I asked my older family members about my own Asian history and culture. I’m Chinese, Dutch, and Indonesian. How did my Chinese grandfather meet my Dutch grandmother?
