A wonderful discussion. Opens my mind and heart to a "different" viewpoint. But the comments regarding martyrdom are humbling and thrilling. God is in charge. Indeed.

Breath of fresh air! It is an act of biblical integrity to read a text truthfully. Most of what we've been taught are someone's reading of the text, maybe, based on their prejudices, biases, denomination or particular preference, not the document as an objective truth. Sometimes what some may have said was the "word of God" was their interpretation. How do you read Revelation and look for Antichrist and beasts outside the first century first, to whom it was written (as a pastoral consolation for the sufferings they were enduring) before you look elsewhere? Each text must be read on its own merits, not on the interpretation of some Millenialist, Amillenialist, Post-millenialist, etc. Because of that Hitler, Saddam, and many others were thought to be the Antichrist. Where are our brains?

Excellent presentation, ans in line from other videos and books I am reading. Revelation was written primarily for the early church in the first century or so. The Beast was Rome, i.e. the emperors.
I also found interesting, the concept of ignoring chapter and verse numbers, and reading the Bible as we read other literature, not pulling out a single verse here and there.
Thank you for this video. I would like other videos on Revelation! Praise God!

He is commenting from a preterist point of view. We are all welcome to agree or disagree or partially agree or disagree. What is absurd is the references about his age.

Dr. Fee has some good points to make on how to read the Bible, by ignoring those distracting chapter & verse numbers, and he is quite right that the Revelation is very subversive for the Roman Empire and that God is in charge. However, it is very sad to see an old man of his age completely lacking in basic understanding of God's unfulfilled purposes for the nation of Israel, of the the theme of OT prophecy esp Daniel, of the reason why there must still be a Tribulation period unlike anything the world has ever seen or will see, of the revival of the Roman Empire (as per Dan 2) which was never defeated but fragmented into the Western nations we know today...he doesn't even give our Lord Jesus Christ credit for The Revelation but instead attributes it to some intertestimental writing of John!

Jesus told Christians to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's Kingdom is a heavenly government ruled by Jesus Christ as King. Soon Jesus as King of kings will bring beautiful changes to the earth. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow on earth, Revelation 21:4,5. No more wickedness on earth, Psalms 37:9-11; Matthew 5:5; Proverbs 2:21,22. Jesus will do on a grand scale what he did when he walked the earth including raising those who are asleep in death, John 5:28,29. The earth will be cultivated into a Paradise like God intended in the beginning, Genesis 1:28; Isaiah 55:11. Jesus said that this good news of the Kingdom would be preached about in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come, Matthew 24:14. We must worship the Father with spirit and truth in order to receive everlasting life and the blessings that God has promised, John 4:22-24; John 17:3; Isaiah 42:8. Soon Jesus will make sure that God's Will is done on earth as it is in heaven, Matthew 6:9,10.

Sorry, im a man who reads Fee often and i like his take in bible interpretation generally, but his implicit preterist approach to the book of Revelation is just poor. There are insurrmountable problems with anything other than a futurist approach to the book of Revelation. The judgements (trumpers and bowls of wrath) upon the earth dwellers has never. been fulfilled for a start. I did a semester class on Revelation with a professor who did a doctorate in Bible interpretation from Fuller Seminary.. we observed the details of the book inductively to establish an overall picture. Arch charts... from the parts to the whole.I think he did a better job of it than Fee. Fee is better as a biblucal exegete and theologian (spirit and law is fantastic) than in hermenuetics. Even though his book on reading the bible has popular apeal.

So the question is where did the new Jerusalem landed, and where is the saints kings & priest leading the nations, & why is Satan still loose, this means that the old man is wrong, the Revelation of Jesus Christ is for the future, that old man is a false prophet.
