Sorry about the wonky audio once again! This was filmed before we switched everything over to a new setup. We've already edited several episodes of season 4 of Fix or Flop! More to come! Thanks for the support.
Might be worth picking up a motherboard speaker, nearly every mobo have the pinouts for them and at least could point you in the direction of issues to start troubleshooting these fix or flops that wont post.
@@FRAC7UR3 Came here to say the same, probably could have saved some of the guessing just by connecting a cheap speaker from an older PC. Apart from that it was a great and instructive video as usual.
I just want to say be careful with the Hyper 212 CPU cooler. The design is really shitty and the nuts don't always stay in place so when threading can turn and dig into the PCB. I accidentally killed an old motherboard years ago doing nothing more than replacing my thermal paste.
he mounted the cpu fan wrong so he went ahead and added a top fan to the aio water pump cooling header to give it a real tinnyness to how cheap his builds.
While I do agree. Cpu temps may have been reporting cool in the BIOS. If paste was bad or none at all as suggested above, Im sure alarm bells would be ringing
The CPU cooler mounting bracket on the back of the motherboard is mounted backwards. The anti shorting/protective film is facing the side panel and not the motherboard. Keep up the great work Greg!
Series is so underrated. it gave me the confidence to do my own build. Every video I learn something new and store it in the back of my mind for if my pc or a friends pc ever has problems.
Glad to see FoF back. One thought I had was since the CPU cooler was already loose, it might have been prudent to remove the cooler and check the condition of the thermal paste, if any at all.
Am I seeing things or what, at ~10:25 where you show the memory sticks, the contact patches (or whatever the gold bits are called, I'm drawing a blank atm), they are really uneven. Looks like someone took a file to it and removed large chunks of it. Could that be the reason they just fail?
I love how under every single episode NOBODY tells anyone in the comments what the actual issue was , it makes this so much more interesting and make you watch the whole video to figure it out
I'm happy to see a new season of Fix or Flop. These are my favorite of your videos. I've learned the hard way to not purchase RAM used. There isn't enough of a savings to make it worth my while, and I've wasted countless hours troubleshooting bad RAM that has no warranty.
I'm so happy you didn't keep the old intro. Sure it's nice for new viewers to hear the full description of what this series is, but after the 50-60th time, I could basically quote you word for word. lol
Its been month since your season finale and you did other type of video. I really thought you somewhat ended this series already. I'm so glad it is back. This Series is really helpful for me and other to troubleshoot our problem. Thank you Greg
Greg, your channel is honestly one of the best I’ve found in a long time. I appreciate the methodology and troubleshooting steps you take to try and solve the issues with these computers. I’ve even learned a thing or two as I’m a hardware tech. Thanks for all you do!
when you said : i bet this gonna work right away, i felt the pressure and the fear from you for a brief second and the relief that when the gpu posted gave you, you got anxious for those moment, and i would have been too even more :)
Thank you for the videos. Appreciate the clear and concise information, and the Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the background (the Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon often amused me).
Your recent videos have motivated me to visit my closest Micro Center(Chicago). I left paying over 1000 dollars. I did two 3 in 1 bundles and got some other stuff. I SUPER happy with the prices!! Thanks for showing me the way!
I enjoy this series simply for the knowledge it helps put out for new builders with not the latest hardware trying to find a current solution to their problems.
When you said it power up but no post, first thing i could think of is dead GPU i had that problem with my first pc everything turns on even Radeon gpu fan spinning but No post. Glad its only ram this time and multiple parts. Geart job once again!!
Happy to see another season in progress. Got up to date a couple of weeks or so ago, glad I did. I had a problem with my new build and this series got me to a fix very quickly. Thanks Greg.
I love watching this process. The memory must not be compatible for some reason, I would not think both would be bad. I built my first server and had so much more confidence in selecting components it booted right after it was completed and now I have a 120 Tb unraid server which will replace my 4-bay and 2-bay TerraMasters. Great video.
Slammin` 🦈 Greg helps people out & we get entertainment & knowledge. Been out of the tech scene for about a decade just maintain my own & family jazz now. But I started when Windows 3.1 was still a thing. These videos help me feel like I'm still in the 'loop'. Cheers.
This series is going to help me out a lot this wed.someone bought a pc off facebook marketplace for 900.00 (USD) and no post, front fan turns on i heard (HEAR SAY) but that is it, be diving into it soon. not my first rodeo with this kinda stuff but even i can forget to try something...
found your channel on accident hooked finally caught up watching all vids enjoying them so much shame your not in the uk i learn small things from you great work!!!
I have the RGB version of that same brand of sag bracket. I bought 3 of them, one for my PC, one for my sons PC at my house, and one for his PC at his moms house. At the time they were only like $18 a piece. But I love them! For some reason on the Z590 board I have in my sons PC here, it will only light up as orange. But on my x570 and the B550 board he has at his moms house, they work just fine and are addressable.
This comment is not to be mean I've seen your show a lot. But I've worked on systems that are older than you are and you have to get down to the chip and circuit board level. To fix them without manuals or test software. But it is fun to watch you in the modern person work on trouble fixing things. Give you an idea I had to hand wire my own modem chip by chip. This befor the 8080.
Do you stresstest or benchmark the PC's before sending them back out? Would be interesting to see more of a 'payoff' at the end of the episodes. Either way always love these episodes. Keep fighting the good fight!
I had the mounting pressure issue with my AM4 rig. It was also a b550 board with a cooler master AIO, so it may just be an AIO mount issue. I solved the issue when the pump died in the original AIO, and I replaced it with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II which uses a different mount. Since then, I've upgraded to AM5 with no issues other than the typical AM5 not liking RAM. Had to do single stick learn cycles with each stick in each slot before I got a consistent boot 😅
Love watching these videos, I watched tons of them around a year ago and then your channel slipped my mind and after I found you again I made sure to subscribe! Super fun to watch and helpful for whenever I run into these issues with future builds or when I’m trying to help people in my area.
i love fix or flop and your cleaning and budget build and even buying pre built pc but your. but the pc that you build that 99% of us that can't build they do not get watched.
Greg, you made my day. Great work! I love this Fix or Flop videos so much. You´re just so good to explain every step you do, so that everyone can follow you along the whole troublshoot proces. Keep up the good work. Can´t await the next episode.
Could be that 1Rx16 memory is not supported on that Z270 platform. Those are the same chips used in 32GB DDR4 DIMMs which are not supported by most motherboards from that time.
@Greg I was curious if you double checked the thermal paste before just tightening the CPU cooler. With how everything looked I wouldn't be surprised the owner did not have appropriate spreading with a loose cooler. Glad to see the fix or flop back again :D
Hey King of Fix or Flop, great to have the series back. Always a pleasure to see PC's brought back to life rather than go to E-waste. Look forward to many more
I'd think that if the CPU cooler wasn't screwed in all the way and was so loose, that would have caused some real issues down the road with cooling. Thanks for making these videos for us 😋

The long awaited comeback of fix or flop, thanks Greg!
Glad it was a simple fix. Surprised you didnt decide to remove the cooler and redo the thermal paste since the 1 screw was already loose.
Indeed i would have checked if there even is any.
While I do agree. Cpu temps may have been reporting cool in the BIOS. If paste was bad or none at all as suggested above, Im sure alarm bells would be ringing
@@AusDaniel still if the cooler has been loose like that and its been used the paste will be bad.
@@j.p.h.8126 Or dust may have gotten its way into the paste/cooler in the time it was inoperable.
@@j.p.h.8126you can feel it when it turns. There’s resistance with paste, without it’s just a metal on metal feeling with barely any resistance.

Man I missed these more than you know. Needed this today as my head is in a billion different places.
Thanks Greg
Omg. How many times I have forgotten to plug in the video cable and thought something was wrong. Love the videos. Thank you for all the great content.
Greg gets an automatic like, every time. Seems like a hella good dude and as a fellow Floridian I gotta support
8:25 yes this is a thing to watch out for, easy to freak out at this if you don’t know to look for it
"I think thats our problem" Greg says 7 minutes in, on a 15 minute video. Oh boy.
No curveballs. What a surprise
Michigan here.. another great fix or flop video.. always amazing how bad memory or non compatible memory can crash a pc in so many ways.
