Every time I see animals like these, that were once abandoned, my mind goes back to a parrot that I used to have. I'm always thinking how I was taking care of her. It was a Small Wavy Parrot, and her name was, after translation, Snowflake. She lived, but I only years later realised how badly I took care of her, and seeing animals like these is doubly painful for me.
Bearded Dragon is my dream pet, but every time I think about it, my head eventually goes back to Snowflake, and I suddenly find myself too scared to even imagine having any pets, let alone actually getting one.
I hope one day I will get over this phobia of mine - I really want to give a Beardie a good home to live in.
Sorry for venting like this. I had to get this of my chest.
I am charmed with the way you take care of your pets, Animal1 Guy. I look up to you, and I hope you can continue taking such a good care of the little guys.

I know that feeling. I had multiple different pets (chipmunks, ferrets, bunnies) as a child and only as an adult and learning much more of their needs I realise what I have done to them and I feel so guilty and ashamed. It was before the internet and the only infomation you could get was through books or what the breeder told you. I wish I could travel back in time and undo the wrong. But I simply can't.
Gray Scale, first you need to learn how to forgive yourself. You can't change the past but can change the future. What has helped me is identifying what my problem was. It was doing other things before taking care of my pet first and clean up ;) I have no issues with my chamleoen but I still have problems with all the food insects. I have 8 different kinds for her and I really hate removing the dead ones, putting them in a different box, washing their boxes (Yuck!) preparing their food. When I am done it's always, well, that wasn't too bad. But it's just a task I hate with all my heart ;) Hope you can overcome your phobia and give a beardie a wonderful live.

I kinda relate to this. I’ve had a beardie for about 4 years now and i only realized in the past 6 months how badly i was taking care of her in the past. I’m thankful i have a job now because i recently was able to buy her a huge new open from tank and a bunch of new stuff. The open front tank makes it so much easier to bond with her and she’s already getting really comfortable with me like never before

I remember when I took in my turtle he hadn't eaten in a month, had a respiratory infection, and had a piece of his beak missing from a fight with a big turtle and for the first few months even after he started eating I knew he could just be dead one morning. He made it and I'm so rooting for this girl to also make it.

i thought water in tank can cause too much humidity for bearded drago, maybe mist ur drago a few times a day? I def tub my dragos *once a day to poo, my dragos poo in tub and dooty goes down the drain(*when theyre not burmating/drago hibernating) and they can drink hopefully in tub, and def get water from misting them with spray water bottle and from their greens, esp when u rinse the greens before feeding. much drago luv. jaz, mum to 2💛💛 beardies, 1💚 chinese waterdragon, 2 cats💜💙 and 1 teenson💖

    • @SohiHien
      @SohiHien 3 роки тому

@@ubetchaslots I would definitely not spray them multiple times a day, spraying in a tank raises humidity too and they don't need to drink constantly like that. They are a more desert species, they are designed to get their water from their food, Taking baths and getting sprayed are not normal for them, neither is seeing still water and knowing to drink (not a lot of puddles in the outback) Beardies should not have daily baths, that is too much. I know of beardies that have gotten respiratory infections from bathing too often since they inhale water into their lungs. Beardies also don't poop daily, my adult poops every couple of days. Daily baths are not good.

I’m a new beardie owner...my girl is 1 year and 3 months. Her Vet said she looks great but I still worry bc she hasn’t eaten in like 2 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️. I thought it was brumation but she switches from side to side of her tank. I’m so confused.
Fecal checked 2 weeks ago and she’s actually perfectly clear. I don’t know what to do. I need help 😔😫

They dont just sleep in brumation, they are just lazy.

I wish I could help you, but I know nothing about reptiles (I don't have one, don't worry, I am a bird person, with four happy cockatiels). However, I just wanted to say that your Videos are absolutely amazing. The story of this bearded dragon sounds like a horrorstory, but she is doing better in your hands, which is truely amazing. I hope she will survive. Good luck

I’ll bet no one has ever cared for her like that before. Sadly you were forced to and she’s a little spooked. Time and patience. We all know this but I know it’s heartbreaking when this happens. I bought two adorable baby boas. Already tame and just beautiful. (One is an albino and one is a charcoal and black motley) after 3 days the motley started striking. I was devastated. But once again, time and patience. It will be ok. Thank you for not giving up on her. Apparently no one has ever done that either. You’re her guardian angel and she’ll know that very soon.

I hope she makes it, poor girl. I am 68, and if I was younger, I would get a reptile. I’m impressed by your knowledge and attentive to her body language.

Hi. A wee tip I could maybe pass on if thsts OK. Rather than holding her up in your hands when you're scrubbing her belly and vent area with the toothbrush? Leave her in the water and brush her while she's still in there. Much much less stressful for her, plus the water moving along with the bristles helps get her cleaner quicker.
I do this with my dragons when they swim in their poop if they go in the viv when I'm out or working.
No, you can't see exactly where you're brushing, but you already know where it's dirty from looking at it.
I hate seeing your rescues stressing and in pain, but I love watching you do your magic. You've such a gentle way with them.
All the best of luck with this princess and her recovery x 🐲🦎🐉🦎🐲

Ohh poor dear. I see what you mean now about her not really having weight as much as she's flattening herself out. I think I still stand by the idea of this being a kid's pet- there's a good chance they tried to handle her a lot and she's not a fan of it so now she's a little extra defensive.
You may know better than I do, but do you suppose adding a splash of Pedialyte or something to a smaller soak would help her with her dehydration? I'm sure once you get her more on track with that, she'll be feeling tons better! It's probably contributing as well as her hunger to any constipation and maybe even the dirty vent. Get her to go once or twice and it might help get things going?
Also also this is a little random but! Well, I'm someone who enjoys crocheting and I wanna say I might be good enough to come up with some smaller patterns on my own for different things. If you ever need anything made up for one of your rescues, feel free to reach out to me! I can't quite help financially to be on patreon, but I've got plenty of extra yarn! If any of your guys likes softer things... Or like with Ripley, if you need a special sling with leg access or the like! (Dunno why I didn't think of it then or I'd have offered! Welp...) Y'know! :D
