In Annie's autobiography she said that Aretha didn't like her and refused to even speak to her. She thought she was a lesbian. When I watch that video now I see how Annie looks at and sings toward Aretha but Aretha never looks at her. I think that whole interaction has colored my opinion of that song, or maybe my opinion of Aretha because I love Annie first and foremost!

My husband - we're separated - is half Irish, half Scottish, born in Nigeria - long story.
Anyway he lived next to Annie and her mother, for years, in his, and her, early 30's. Annie's mother used to make stews for him and the guys he shared the house with. Very lovely of her, but, I suspect she wanted to keep an eye on them. It was the early 90's. Anyway, my ex never, ever lost at pooll. I have sat and waited for 18 hours, in many pubs and countries bored to death. Annie used to come to the only local pub, she knew everybody, they knew her, with a bodyguard. Very strange. He told ne - and I believe him - that she loved pool, and since he was the champion, and didn't care who she was. She wanted to play him, even asked him out. He's very charming, as only a narcissist psychopath can be. He delighted in saying no. I left him, obviously. But, I believe certain things that he has told me because I know him. I agree with you, this woman has had, and probably still has problems. Only a severely damaged soul, would pick my husband. I do not say this lightly. She's one of my favourite artists. Thank God that she didn't end up with my husband. You give amazing reviews. Astounding how you picked up on the fact that she was majorly hurting. Bless you sweetheart xxxxxi

I was, and still am, a fan of Annie Lennox and The Eurythmics from the start. I had tickets to an outdoor festival in 1986 to see them, but I never did. That was the night I realized Some thing was very wrong in my marriage. He decided not to go to the show and go golfing then dinner with his friends instead. He then told me ''you're not going there alone'', put both tickets in his pocket... and left the house. I cried like a baby all night because I would't be seeing them...then I cried even more realizing what my husband had done... to me? This song hits me hard and deep... but I used it it was my first step to get out of what became an abusive situation. I finally got to see Annie perform in 2003, when she turned 50 on her new world tour ! I was gifted a ticket, a tee-shirt of my choice and refreshments. The concert was... WOW ! Since it was a premier concert, the press were outside... and I was interviewed for the late evening news ! If I ever find that clip... I'll send it over. ;)

How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey, this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
    Falling from your mouth
    Falling from your mouth
    Tell me
    Why
    Why
    I may be mad
    I may be blind
    I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard it said too many times
    That you'd be better off
    Besides
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
    Tell me
    Why
    Tell me
    Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
    These are the tears
    The tears we shed
    This is the fear
    This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'Cause I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
You don't know what I feel

One of the most powerful vocalists to have come out of the UK.
I respected her as an artist even more when a "rave" outfit called Utah Saints used a Eurythmics sample in their track "What Can You Do For Me?" The track charted in the UK and Dave Stewart tried to sue them. Lennox disagreed with him stating she thought it was great and creative. The case, I believe, was subsequently dropped - then the Utah Saints went on to do legitimate remix work for Lennox. Legend!

Closing credits, on LOTR, her singing “Into the west “ kept everyone in their chairs instead of dashing to the exits. 😊

    I. ADORE. ANNIE... She is a POWERHOUSE💕 When the DIVA album first came out, I was OBSESSED with it: I literally played it over-and-over at work, every day (in rotation with 3 other albums: George Michael's Listen Without Prejudice; Sting's Ten Summoner's Tales; and the live recording of the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert)😅
