- Periphery's instrumental rendition of "Ji", off of the 2012 album Periphery II: This Time It's Personal.
8 string track. This one and Masamune came out very clean, even by today's standards.

1:46 DARA DUM DARA DUM DUM DARA DUM DARA DUM DARA DUM DARA DUM DUM DUM
Just the way that you can know how the chorus goes without hearing it just shows Spencer's talent in songwriting with the lyrics. He knows how to make a catchy, memorable, and well-thought-out chorus, as well as well-timed verses. I see in some of the documentaries from the band in PIV that I've seen that Spencer tracks the vocals and Matt tracks the drums after the guys make the guitar parts. That's neat to think about that Spencer will create a melody after listening to the guitars and strategically put vocals where it needs to be. Even though he overwhelms himself with a lot of vocal lines that are close together (at times,) I can't change that and to be honest I don't mind it in studio but I can't help but ask myself "can he pull off all of this live?" And don't get me wrong, he can do it sometimes, and sometimes they sound like studio but of course it's impossible with some songs (and that's where Jake and the backup tracks are helpful.)
In all, listening to the instrumentals makes me appreciate Periphery so much because I can hear what each member contributes and it helps me as a listener to pay attention to those details. And with that knowledge I can apply it to any other music I listen to. Listening to prog made me realize that the musicians are just as important as the vocalist. Of course, Periphery would not be *anything* without Mark, Misha, Matt, Nolly, Jake, or Spencer. I don't even want to think about it any other way. That's why I don't really like the arguments about Spencer's voice. Like, I can defend my stance but that doesn't mean that I don't care abt the rest of them. Anyways that's my Ted Talk have a good day happy listening 😁
I had a hyper realistic dream where I air guitared the solo part of this song and played this exact video in the car driving (All in the dream) So weird...
>no ch-ch at 1:35
song ruined
LoL.
3:02 OH BOI, THE HELLPERN DOES IT AGAIN
Dude he's so good. and this was YEARS ago when he recorded it. He just so tasteful with his grooves. The drum face also helps.
A request, if you may.
Please, oh please, for the love Nolly's Nolliness, can we please have a "Make Total Destroy Instrumental (Naught a Change/Default Mix)"?!
P.S: On an unrelated note, love your work, mate.
From the sun into the deep we go leaving 😍😍
You’re doing gods work but where is ragnarok????
the production still stands out even by today's standard. Taylor Larson is a beast, although he could have done better with the bass tone, obv (not as grindy as P1 somehow).
The chorus sounds really akward without lyrics :D
For that exact purpose I've also created versions absent of the backing track. Any left over vocals in this is actually from the backing track -- not the b-vocals. Unfortunately what that also means is that if you remove the backing track, elements such as ambience and synth are lost as well. In my books, that's reason to keep the backing track in.
However I do understand the other side of this as well, which is why I'll be releasing the non-backing track + non b-vocals mixes relatively soon.
I predominately mean the guitar sounds really odd.. you are never able to hear it like this ..
"Hheeeyyyy" 🤣
